Gandalf the Fabulous Seems a bit harsh... I've seen not one ounce of sexual content in any of the trailers, even implied. And consider we have a bunch of "objects" that look like humans, it'd be easy to go this direction but there has been no signs of them going this direction.

I take people are forgetting this game is written by David Cage? I would rather wait for some proper reviews before making any purchasing choices. I enjoy following David Cage, not because I like his work but because his games are fucking horrible and he and his games are fun to laugh at, of course that does not mean I am going to buy and support the game, I learned my lesson with Heavy Rain. To be honest I am surprised there are still fans of his work, when Heavy Rain came out most of the people praising it were only praising it because of the Emperor's new clothes effect, the game was sold as this mature, emotional (David Cage's favorite word) story driven game for the mature gamer and if you did not agree you were an immature kiddie who only plays Call of Duty so of course the games media (and a handful of vocal toadies and pretentious dickheads) was all over the title talking about how stunning the emperor's clothes were, however after it had been out for a while and people with sense got their hands on it it was revealed that the emperor is in fact naked and by the time his next game came out (the one wot has Ellen Page in it) David Cage and his games were largely recognized as a joke. Surprised there are still people looking forward to Detroit as if they have forgotten what David Cage's work is actually like but I am sure when Detroit actually comes out there will be a new batch of awkward sex scenes and stupid writing to laugh at. Sooooo android sex? Preorder confirmed.

Merely going by Cage's previous work, besides if you haven't seen any signs that this could be a direction they are going then perhaps you should watch this. Kind of explicitly stated that these androids are not only for assisting around the house but are also sex bots, wouldn't be surprised to see Kara get used as a sex bot by that shallow caricature of a single deadbeat dad.

That is almost a certainty, also you will probably get a creepy attempted or implied rape scene as well.

I'm not surprised. considering that all of the Official Trailers for the Game thus far have no sexual content, I would not think it would be a focus. City Elf Origin in DAO is my favorite Origin. That fact that rape and attempted rape was in it was what made it so real to me that it tapped into my emotions easily. I'm not afraid of rape as game content. I guess it's kinda creepy if he keeps putting rape in all his games...but then, every Game Dev puts killing people with guns/swords in their games and I don't judge them for that.

I've actually never played any of the aforementioned games. I have no idea who this David person is (though apparently he is the writer of said games). I merely thought the idea of Detroit looked interesting. As always, when it comes out, I'll make up my own mind. I know I watched some of that Beyond Two Souls when it came out on a stream or something and it was so incredibly boring. I mean, there was no game play. It was like watching a movie and then sometimes they would push a button. If it's like that, I have no interest. ETA: My son did also warn me that he thinks this game will suck, but HE AIN'T THE BOSS OF ME!

I'd expect the same here, could just be me but quantic dream games are more cinematic/scenes over gameplay. You'll do some moving around and interacting with things in the environment, but it's pretty much a lot of character interaction for the most part.

I just finished watching the Heavy Rain video posted on this page and it looks like a bunch of QTE, which I'm also not a fan of. Detroit still seems interesting to me, but I may just watch a play through first to see if it's something I'd like.

That is pretty much all the game is, basically an interactive movie where you select certain actions and perform quicktime events not unlike a Telltale game, not personally my favorite genre but not entirely worthless provided the writing and the story are entertaining enough, unfortunately I don't think David Cage really has the writing skill to make such a game worthwhile unless of course your ultimate goal is to poke fun at it. Guy is like the Tommy Wiseau of Video Game developers.

I never intended to buy at release, as I only do that for a select few. But, I'll still check it out. Just not sure if it's something I would enjoy "playing".

I would think in this game, Choosing actions via dialogue lines is appropriate with their prior skill set. I mean, that's all you really see in the Trailers, except you also know there are 2-6 different ending options.
So if anything, this plays to their strength rather than detracts from it.

I'm sure they will add it to Playstation Now eventually, so technically you will be able to play it on pc. If you don't mind the monthly fee and own a controller ofcourse.

I like his bit about how videogames have the potential to be more than what movies offer, because it's true. It's the same reason why I often find myself looking forward to a series more than a film. A game allows the long format that lets many narratives and characters flesh out to a [hopefully] cohesive whole, on a level that no single film could ever capture, while being on top of the interactivity that makes it so engaging in the first place. It's part of the reason why I do not want a Mass Effect movie. Putting aside that history has established that movies based on games are typically terrible, I don't think it will capture anything of what I actually love about the MEU.

Yeah I don't always agree with Jim Sterling but he is spot on with this one, I feel the same way with video games having the potential to be the superior narrative platform, for me it is video games ability to put the player in the shoes of the protagonist instead of just being a passive observer giving the player a deeper understanding of what the protagonist is going through and what it means to be that character. Take for instance the first season of Telltale's the Walking Dead, The relationship between Clementine and Lee the player is constantly put in a position of whether they should take the role of the protective father protecting her from harm and protecting her innocence so she can be a child or to try and prepare Clementine so she is able to survive in this harsh world, I am sure it is a dilemma most parents go through on the one hand wanting to protect their child from any harm that might befall them but knowing that you cannot protect them for ever and that you need to prepare them to be able to survive on their own and that means they need to experience some not so pleasant situations, it makes the ending all the more heartbreaking because you reach a point where you can no longer protect Clementine and need to trust that you have done all that you can to prepare her to survive in this harsh new world Of course it is just a video game and nothing really matters in the end, season 2 turns out pretty much the same no matter what you pick in season 1 but if you were to watch the game as a movie and a passive observer I don't think that point would have come over quite as strong or even at all. It is why Naughty Dog games like Uncharted and the Last of Us piss me off so much, while the developer is arguably quite good at making gameplay look impressive and feel like a hollywood action sequence they completely squander the potential of a video game and had they been the movies they obviously wish they were I don't think their audience would be quite so forgiving nor would they be anywhere near as well received.

Demo released today. (first mission of the game, previously shown in the E3 2016 trailer) Much is said about the lack of choice and consequence in games; I enjoyed assessing the situation with real decisions to make and the clock ticking. And I saved the hostage, just sadly not myself... I like the look of this, I'm interested.
