No sex scenes and the dad just tries beat on things when he’s angry. Ah ok I guess there must have been somebody on the design team this time who was able to convince David Cage that including that scene would be a bad idea. The deadbeat dad seems like a pretty shallow depiction of the worst person in the world who you are supposed to hate so I thought it would probably also be implied that he uses the Kara model as a sex robot as well. Considered how unhealthy and angry he is, don't think he could get it up

so, my impression of this game includes the idea that there are other drastically different endings. I mean, most of the flow charts implied as such. But if the different endings are there, then I give this a 9.6 / 10.
Some points off for the permadeath and some points off for the Dialogue choices being way off from what I was picking. Some points off for quicktime events being made up of8 single options and handful of combos not to get beat up.
Otherwise, amazing. Amazing, and one of the endings is a twist ending. Maybe all of them. No idea. played 14 hours today, want to play another 14 hours again.

The dialogue choices not meaning what they are reminds me of ME1; freaking h*ll, that's not what I meant! Addictive, isn't it?

Playing it again 2nd time, except this time on Casual. I want to not fail abysmally this time. Last game: Kara and Alice and Marcus and all of Jericho died. Connor was informed it was all according to plan and I attempted suicide with him, which the game didn't confirm.
and then I let my Android Hostess leave, so she doesn't even grace my Login/Waiting Screen anymore I put it on Casual though. Want my happy endings now instead of the frustration and death

How is Detroit compared to Heavy Rain in terms of story, narrative (emotional impact) and gameplay?
Getting the good ending in Heavy Rain was super easy even for somebody like me who failed half of the button prompts.
Does Detroit have as many drawn out QTEs as HR? I hope NOT. But I can put up with it if the story is engaging which I assume will be the case again.

One of the different endings lasted over two hours and it’s completely different, all the endings are. It’s also incredibly heartbreaking to choose something out of the norm, I tried that my second play just to try something else and it killed me, broke me to tears, it’s unbelievable.

Getting the good ending in Heavy Rain was super easy even for somebody like me who failed half of the button promp I never played his other games, so I can't comment on that. NOT SPOILERS: But this game let's you fail. I failed hardcore my first time playing. It wasn't so bad at first, but halfway through, I killed two people I couldn't get back, and one of them was the third playable protaganist. I didn't get to play that protag for the rest of the game. Then towards the end, I ended up with 2/3 protaganists dead and the 3rd was a big question mark. I still "Finished" the game, but the game pretty much told me I had failed at my objectives.

Is this an exclusive? Bummer if it is because I watched half an hour on Christopher Odd's channell and I'm fairly engaged. The voice acting and visuals are top notch and I like the way the game is constantly asking the player to make decisions.

Well, I’ve just started my “Ruthless” playthrough... and I can already tell I’m going to be fighting my instincts the whole way. This was the worst one for me, cause usually I don’t mind playing renegade or evil, I prefer it in fact but in this case it broke my heart, I was crying. Maybe because they all look so damn real idk, I also laughed a bit cause it had some funny moments but damn it wasn’t easy I tell ya.

Holy sh!t So, I went after Todd with a gun but failed too many QTE’s, so the gun got kicked away.
Then, Alice picked up the gun and shot him right through the heart as he was beating on Kara

Heimdallactually, that outcome was spoiled for me on some of the trailer/game vids before it came out. So I was surprised when: My Kara got the gun herself, struggled a lot, and then sort of accidentally shot Todd in self defense. Thought it would have been cool for Alice to have shot Todd.

One thing about Kara's story that I'm unsure how I feel about; Whether the reveal that Alice is secretly an Android ruins what was interesting about Kara's story (Android becomes surrogate mother to human child) in the first place? Was Alice programmed to be unaware of her true nature, did she know but pretended for Kara's sake, or had she become deviant prior to the game? Actually, that ties into another minor criticism; Aside from Rose and the implication an underground railroad exists, we don't see any indication there exists any human advocacy groups for Androids in this world, which you'd think realistically there would be?
Even if Jericho refused to allow humans to join their ranks for fear they might be spies or saboteurs, it'd have been nice to have at least heard of Android Rights Groups on the news that were supporting or condemning Markus, depending on what path his revolution took.
I know the focus is meant to be on the Androids, so having humans helping them might deflate their sense of agency in fighting for their freedom, but it feels unrealistic not for any humans to be shown on their side. After all, the point of the pacifist run is to gain public support, so seeing that reflected in the game would have been nice.

Was Alice programmed to be unaware of her true nature, did she know but pretended for Kara's sake, or had she become deviant prior to the game? Alice just sat at Rose's house and tole my Kara she was keeping a secret. And that she didn't want to tell Kara because Kara wouldn't love her any more. So that tells me that Alice knows about herself.
What I dont get is how Alice could have been running a fever. I get that these android children supposed to be a very realistic, but why would any owner/parent want the kid to be sick?
Also, I do think Alice must be deviant. Two things support my reasoning: 1, Alice CAN shoot Todd. Even though she didn't in my play through 2 she is quiet, depressed, withdrawn, fearful. I know they probably programmed these kids to have more outward seeming emotion but these all point to a child made deviant by it's parent/owner. But then again, I haven't see ALL of Kara's story, so maybe the answers lie in the story later.

I do have a complaint to lodge with the game, concerning a bit of the Kara storyline. The first time I played, Kara and Alice arrive downtown. I Analyze a couple of places and figure asking a question at the 24/7 convenience store would get me more information. I mean, the hotel requires money, so bad idea. And squatting/parking lot don't sound ideal. So, off we went. And then the guy at the Cash register lacks the same empathy for children that the bus driver has (still shocks me a bit) and tells us to shoo or buy something. The game then implies that I could rob from the convenience store as I walk around. I had already decided not to when I finally see the Cameras and thank my stars I didn't.
Then we explore the parking lot and find wire cutters, and then spend the night with Ralph. The next time we play as Connor, we see that he and the others got information from the cameras/employee that Kara and Alice had been there. And that's how Connor gets the idea to check that house--- it's directly across from the convenience store where we'd been sighted.
So when I pull up my 2nd PT, I go straight to the parking lot, then straight to Ralph/squatting. And think, AHA! I've blocked Connor's auto deductions. Clever me. I wonder how (also me) Connor will handle this!
and the game has him on the side of the road with Hank, saying "No witnesses other than the bus driver. She stayed at the end of the line because she didn't have a plan." Looks at the squater home with a "hunch" look, then auto puts him on the squatter home porch.
WTF So I guess I'm seeing some of the "branching narrative" glitter fall off at this point.

The more I think about it, the more I think Kara surrogate mothering a human child was the more compelling story here. I’m kinda disappointed now. I don't know. I was kinda pondering the possibility of Alice not even being real. Like, how would that change the events of the story so far? The bus driver, the 24/7 Cashier, the cameras all don't see Alice. In the report about Kara at the police department, no mention is made of Alice in 2 PTs. Alice's room could still have existed because Todd had been married with a child. All the words directed at Alice could have been directed at Kara. if Luther is also a figment of false programing, Luther talking about Alice could be fake too. Maybe Luther is Kara's original programming trying to tell her that Alice isn't real. But then I guess Rose touching Alice and bringing her spaghetti kinda throws that theory out. But it was interesting for a while.

So I just played "Meeting Kamski" 3 times in a row. I wish I'd shot Chloe the first time I played, because then I would have been wracked with guilt wondering if I'd done the right thing. Now that shooting her is the only way to see other content, it sort of took the edge off significantly. Also, Kamski is a liar. He straight up says if you shoot Chloe, he'll tell you everything you want to know. So Connor shoots her. And he lets you ask exactly one question. That's changing the terms of the agreement, you ass. So I ask about rA9 first, and he says it's some sort of random blip in the program he had no part in. Bull shit. RELOAD Ask about the deviancy being spread, if it's a true virus. He says it's a copy error he had no part in. Bull Shit. RELOAD ASk him where Jericho is. He straight up gives you the info. I go out after Hank and get emotionally punched in the gut with the consequences of what I just did Hank! don't leave me!! But also. Guys, guys. Why does Connor even know the word Jericho? I KNOW IT, because I'm the player. But I've not read the word Jericho written anywhere where Connor can read it. He also never connects with anyone who knows it. Murderer in the attic? he doesn't know. Lesbian Androids? they don't know. Operations Android at the News Tower? He knows, but he doesn't mention it until you break into the Evidence locker and trick him into speaking. sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?

Just finished my 2nd PT of Detroit Become Human. Amazeballs ride! I got a whole branch of narrative I hadn't seen before with keeping Kara alive. And then I made the choice to stay peaceful and got an entirely different ending that had me cheering! because everyone's alive! So many moments were powerful, two moments that were new to me was the decision to sing and the Canadian Border Patrol guy letting us pass through. I got choked up.
I cried a little both times when John from Spare Parts sacrifices himself for MArcus as well as when Hank dies. What's so crazy about Hank dying is it's like...the first time we see him not angry. Almost relaxed. Now I'm going to totally spoil myself pn the internet and see what kind of extreme stuff I can get away with!

So I've managed to slueth that Program instability actually matters Conner can't choose to become Deviant and avoid shooting Marcus unless he has some unstable programming somewhere But I have yet to figure out if we the players care if Amanda likes Conner. I also got conflicting responses from her. I felt like she liked Connor being cold, indifferent, and even Android murderous which increased Stability (or at least, didn't decrease it). But then she also liked it when I had Conner tell her that he "may have been compromised, and perhaps should be replaced." Considering her end goal, of course she'd respond with reassurance as this is the path she wants him to go down. But then why did she like the cold, confident, yet sometimes indifferent responses? :/
