Yesh, I definitely recall defensively shooting one Traci. I think the second one was optional? The short haired Traci was charging at me when I got the opton to shoot her. The blue haired Traci commited suicide after that for me.

Crap. Dunno how to role-play this.
Being a nice fresh Connor, very stable.
Then he chased Simon and probed. And then his instability went way way up and he's visibly upset. Now I don't know if I'm allowed o play him roboty or deviant in denial. I feel like he's been infected

oh gawd. So I trick Simon into showing me Jericho. Then Connor hits up Jericho and isn't even allowed to become deviant. End up playing Connor as trying to kill Marcus, but end up using MArcus to shoot Connor. That was Connor's second death, first was Hank shooting him.
Then Hank kills himself and the howling Sumo makes me mourn Hank's death on a deeper level. I don't cry. But I feel like the worst piece of scum ever. That Connor, barely deviant Connor, also looks mighty disturbed makes me pleased in a mad way.
At this point, I really have no idea what's going to happen with Connor. I'm not doing great at the Violent Revolution. Then Connor tries to snipe him, but fails due to interference.
Kara gets sent to the Recycling Center (my first time seeing it) and the scene where they make them undress and de skin smacks so hard of holocaust camps it creeps me out.
Sucking at Violent Revolution leads to North Sacrificing herself for Marcus to continue. At this point, this psycho woman finally redeems herself as I give into the Tragic romance feels and tear up a bit. North dies, her "heart beating" strong in Marcus's chest.
Connor meets MArcus on the battle field. And the game gives me the choice of who to control! I choose Marcus.
As every time Marcus punches/kicks/stabs/shoots Connor I'm yelling, "You son of a bitch, you let Hank die! you don't deserve to live!" and "I can't let North's sacrifice go to waste!" And Connor dies. obviously. Mission Failed for Connor.
The Revolution succeeds. Kara, Alice, and Luther are liberated from the Recycling Camp.
And I am left with the sad sad Hank feels. I am now super diving into youtube videos and seeing even more things I never saw! like how Connor can die TEN TIMES. How you can fight and possibly kill Gavin! And it makes me want to immediately play a Super Emotional Hank Loving Deviant Connor who shoots all the assholes, and happy endings for everyone. There is apparently even some sort of Chicken Feed Hank and Connor Post Credits Scene you get if Hank lives to the end! This game is great.

The mid credit scene between Hank and Connor I got with my play through (really simple and beautiful) made me cry. Definitely one of my all time favorite games. I just read about that! See, for some reason I just thought that the Revolution would only work if Connor brought more droids. So I sacrificed Hank twice on my first and second PT thinking it was necessary. And I was sad Hank died, but he died saying he was going to be happy to see his son again. But now that I know I can have success without killing him, My Perfect Fourth PT will net me the scene you reference I did one robo Connor playthrough and with everything happening to Hank I’m not sure I have it in me to do another, Nah. Once was enough. It's just sadness and despair. I've played an Evil Hawke before, but they don't make you see the consequences of that as clearly as Hank telling you that you reminded him of his late son and that you were his last hope for humanity. Instead, you crushed it and Robo Connor sucks anyway. Hank and Connor forever. PS: I really really don't like North. That moment when she's prowling on the edge of the group as Marcus decides whether or not to shoot the cops in revenge looks like she's looking on with baited anticipation. I did her romance this time, and I don't regret it because I got that sacrifice scene, but I just don't see her with a peaceful Markus at all.

I really, really like Hank. I do. But I've never been able to get the Hank/Connor hug scene during the credits. There's two things that must happen in any of my playthroughs of this game. First, Markus must die. Doesn't matter if he's peaceful or violent. I have Connor kill him no matter what. Only thing that changes is how Connor kills him. Secondly, Connor must always stay an android. I've just never connected with the deviants rising up against the humans. I'm human so I always want to see humanity win and keeping Connor as a loyal deviant hunter helps with that. Besides, I like Connor best as the deviant hunter who doesn't let anyone stop him from completing his mission. Unfortunately, all of that keeps the hug scene from happening.
Luckily, if I play my cards right I can gain the ending I like best without sacrificing any of my preferred choices or characters I like. Connor stays android but has a high enough friendship with Hank that he's able to walk away from Hank instead of killing him and they part on 'friendly' terms. Markus leads a peaceful march and achieves temporary (Not complete) freedom for his kind before being assassinated by Connor who's watching Markus' speech from the crowd. There's no mid credits scene in this version so there's no confirmation that Connor's going to be replaced. Hank lives, Connor lives, the androids gain some kind of freedom and Markus dies. My perfect ending. Kara, Alice and Luther make it to Canada of course.

North is very bloodthirsty, but I still had her and Markus in love at the end. She has every reason to feel as she does, since being a sexbot, she was essentially kept as in sexual slavery. I kind of like to think that Markus' example helps to redeem her, and their love helps to heal her heart. Just my imaginings.

And apparently Marcus is scripted to feel bad about killing people (looking at his bloodied hands, can verbalize regret about killing the cops) and she just doesn't pick up on it or comforts him about his regrets. I think because they had to make her dialogue work for either kind of Marcus but it's not in me to give her the benefit of the doubt when she has this cat with the canary look as Marcus is about to decide the fate of the cops.

Welp, just finished the game last night and my 3 endings were: Markus: Dies in a fiery sacrifice along with his people to become martyrs and convince the president and public to rethink their stance on whether androids are alive or not. I wanted him to live, but I'm ok with this ending. I think where I screwed up was not taking the android at the warehouse, where you went to steel the blue blood, with me when I left and thus had to choose disperse or violence after the first march (you survive the sacrifice option if you had saved this guy beforehand). So I had to choose violence for just that one time and I think it effed over my approval rating with the public even though they were "supportive" by the end game.
Kara: Made it across the border with both Alice and Luther and started a new life as a happy family.
Conner: Stayed a machine cop and continued his mission to stop the deviants, only died once to markus during their fight on the ship. Received "mission successful" even though he chose not to snipe markus due to his "friendship" with hank. He walks by the charred corpse after it's all over and receives the mission successful. No meeting with Amanda and it's not implied or shown that he will be destroyed. I'd love to play it again to try different choices and endings but I borrowed from a friend who had it via gamefly, so I had to give it back. lol Anyway, it was a great game! Very intense at moments, I loved it.

In one my second playthrough: Alice and Luther died trying to cross the border after missing the bus. Someone then started cutting onions beside me. I've played almost all of Quantic Dream's games except for Omikron and in my opinion this game is definitely at the top. Indigo Prophecy and Beyond Two Souls took some weird directions in their stories that took away from them. This and Heavy Rain are awesome. There was one thing in Kara's story that I didn't really care for but it didn't take anything away from it and is kind of a nitpick anyway.

That's pretty spot on and sums up nicely why I can't get into this game, or shows like Westworld either. Those aren't androids or robots in these settings, those are just humans playing metal-face. Also, the extremely shallow allegory for slavery and racism is juvenile as well; one of the more low-brow approaches to the depiction of AI in fiction really. Appropriation of real world racism and slavery aside, the fact that all these settings have androids appear as exact replicas of humans is wildly inefficient from a practical point of view; and is one of my bigger gripes with such creations. At least Westworld has the excuse that they are making the robots appear life-like for the purposes of a next-generation animatronic theme park, but in something like Detroit: Become Human? You want a machine to wash your dishes and clean your clothes? We have those in the real world, they don't look anything like we do, and do their jobs a heck of lot more effectively than we ever could. Need something to watch your kids while you're out and about? Humans in previous centuries would sometimes use something as simple as dogs (Rottweilers and Boxers make excellent nannies btw). The idea that the people in these settings need to make all the robots look human in order to carry out human-assigned tasks is just laughable when viewing it in any sort of practical light. Not to mention why a sapient AI would even view such human concepts of 'freedom' or 'love' to be goals to aspire to. Think about it, these machines are designed to preform a task. Cleaning to a Roomba could very well be the equivalent of breathing and, if that being the case, then why would it's AI ever want to overthrow humanity, or discover the works of Bach or Beethoven as opposed to just preforming it's assigned tasks?

Vortex13I very much agree, but sci fi is often predicated in this sort of nonsensical, impossible premises. Like mass effect fields, or Altered Carbon and Westworld’s bizarre conviction that making a digital copy of a human mind is the same as immortality, or at all possible to begin with.

Vortex13 I very much agree, but sci fi is often predicated in this sort of nonsensical, impossible premises. Like mass effect fields, or Altered Carbon and Westworld’s bizarre conviction that making a digital copy of a human mind is the same as immortality, or at all possible to begin with. Oh I get that, what I don't understand is why everyone is seemly just stuck on the teen melodrama equivalent of such concepts. No one is trying to explore the nature of AI as it would relate to humanity; in terms that a purely digital and logical construct would in these settings. Instead its all about 'robots as slaves', 'robots as f**k buddies', 'robots that just wanna be real boys', etc. ME 2's take on the Geth came close, but then that was quickly jettisoned out the airlock in favor of Pinocchio-bots in game 3.

That YT video person used a lot of convoluted talking to get to his main point is that he personally thinks David Cage should never have made a video game, and not just this one, but any of them. (the speaker is finally honest at 15:15) I feel that way about his ridiculously long video. I guess I just don't agree with most fancy pants critics. The game was good, too bad he didn't like it. His diatribe doesn't make me enjoy the three PTs any less, and I still want to play it one more time.

Well, the more I think about it I kinda would have preferred a story that kept the Revolution stuff as a background element, with more focus given to the buddy cop stuff and sans the Alice reveal. This guy had some opinions I liked:
