For those complaining about tactic style combat, I didn't care for it, but enjoyed the combat anyway because they provided tools to get around that who didn't want to micro-manage their companions. It was the tactics and Behaviors that were in the game. I set each companion up to compliment each other and make up for my characters weaknesses. It may have taken some time to do in the start, but it was worth it as I never had to worry about them dying and actually helping instead of being nothing more than meat-shields as they were in DAI. I fear that that type of system is not possible with frostbite which is why we got the terrible combat design in DAI. I thought it was terrible anyway.
I think DA2 was the best combat design of the series, but I understand I'm probably in the minority.

I enjoyed the combat in DAO and I had a really fun time with the combat in DA2.
I tried so hard to like the combat in DAI and I think some things like archers was improved. But it was challenging in the wrong ways for me. The tactical camera only gave me frustration and motion sickness which was unfotunate as it was the only way to still move with clicking on the ground like in the older games. I found it a complete pain trying to control anything but ranged fighters. I missed the tactics menu and being able to use all abilities, mages were less fun (less variety) and I think barriers was boring compared to healing.
But at the same time I thought the combat was a lot easier so I had to set challenges for myself like not using the crafting or some of the more OP abilites. But in the end I gave up and just accepted I didn't like it and it was just better to get the combat over with as quickly as possible.
But if the DAI combat return I can handle that. I certainly hope for improvements, auto attack, a higher level cap and a return of healing and blood magic for roleplay variety as well.
What I absolutely don't want is something like MEA with no pause, even fewer active abilities, no classes and companions reduced to banter and banging.

Total active abilities or active abilities that you can use at one time (hotbar)? Also fwiw, I am very pro healing as a combat concept (both players and enemies). What I'm not a fan of is making healing a necessity for success.

All combat should require use of the PS4 motion controls.
If you play on PC or other consoles, you just can't move at all.
