Just left the Theater after Spider-Man: No Way Home 9/10 Probably my favorite Comic book flick after LOGAN & Infinity War I won't spoil the film itself. However the 2nd post-credit scene, which is after the complete credits, was incredible. It is an extended peek at Dr. Strange 2!! Oh my, Mordo is some kind of anti-hero, Wanda is sought out by Strange in some idyllic farmhouse setting to help with multiverse threats. Wong is crucified, and here's the best part; Mordo says this; "Steven, I know we haven't always agreed on everything, but we need to work together. The biggest threat to our Universe is... You." That's right, Evil Strange is the Villain! Saw it last night. Loved it. I was actually a little annoyed by the second post credits. Don't get me wrong - it was a fantastic teaser, but I'd rather just catch that sort of thing on Youtube.

Hawkeye Ep6 Great seeing D'Onofrio's Kingpin again. I liked that he sniffed out Maya and ran with it, let her go, then dealt with it. Up til then he was just sort of "the boss" but in this show he lacked substance. That helped bring back why he's Kingpin. Also pulling the car door off. He's not dead if it's off-screen. (I also don't think they'd bring him back just to off him.)
***
I made one of those pictures you can hear. *** Wouldn't've guessed Jack would go the helpful route when we first met him. Like I said before, he was growing in me. Still is. He was committed to his role, not just the actor, the character portraying the role as well. (Which he portrayed well.) This is a case of an actor doing a lot with very little.
*** Hanging from a Christmas Tree, "we're all gonna die." *** Maya. This is one aspect I'm not digging at all. She's worse than one-dimensional. Her characterization is a collection of disabilities, daddy issues, and resting-bitch face. She never stops being bitchy, it's one emotion the entire time.
*** SHIELD #19. Guess you were right DKR! ***
A partnership. Best scenario when paired with retirement. I can live with it. *** The musical gets a bit sassy near the end. "we lived through the 80's and this too shall pass"... "If the city's trashed when you take your bow we'll blame you then but you're good for now."

I have a new favourite Marvel show. WandaVision was great until the final episode/episode and a half. Hawkeye was good for 5 episodes but pulled off a hell of a superhero landing for the finale. Kingpin brought a menace that every other antagonist had been missing (because, as we discovered, they just didn’t fully understand the situation).
The speech from Kate about seeing Clint in the battle of New York was great.
Basically everything about the final battle was awesome, but special mention to step Dad swordsman.
Kate and Yelena’s fightversation was the highlight, though, for me. I really hope they stick around. I really like their energy together.

Don’t know much about the character but would happily see him as the primary antagonist of a future Hawkeye film. Yeah, Maya was a plot device in the end, which was a little disappointing, but they were keeping their powder dry for Kingpin, so I guess something had to give. Well…my mate was right. But I’ll claim credit in his name! I would pay real money right now to watch that musical. And I could watch it all daaAAAAAAYYYY!

I assume Maya will get more development in her own show, which Kingpin should be back for. No way they brought D'Onofrio back for twenty minutes of screen time before killing him off.
In the comics storyline their last confrontation is referencing, she doesn't even try to kill him - she blinds him. (Somewhere out in the MCU Matt Murdock is laughing his head off and doesn't even know why.)

I liked Hawkeye overall, but the final episode was hella cheesy
KingPin has a Kevlar Hawaiian shirt? How could little Kate possibly survive a brawl with him? Yelena is cool, but she isn't as good at her job as her sister.
Also she hit Clint in the HEAD about 7 times with a steel baton. He would be dead
Sorry, too much stupid plot armor for me. I liked the finale to Wandavision & Loki better

That's on-par with what they did with the Terminator franchise making John Connor the "evil Big Bad" right from the start. Those idiots messed with James Cameron's masterpieces of 1 and 2, re-wrote stuff, then retconned it all and in a completely nonsensical and convoluted manner made Jon Connor to be the bad guy all along, which totally didn't make any sense whatsofeckingever! Of course if we are talking an evil doppelganger of sorta from a mirror planet in a parallel universe.....That is understandable. I just don't want to see the 'actual' Dr Strange be made out to be the evil one from the start.

@ Energizer Bunny 211: Why would they need to make the actual Strange a villain ??? They don't. But writers/directors often love to screw things up just because (look at TLJ and how Rian JOhnson said "screw you and screw this" to JJ Abrams and everything he laid down in TFU, only to go comepletely half-cocked and be the rebel without a clue....simply because he could. He basically even said as much in the Special Features of The Last Jedi: "I am going to undo everything that has come before, I am going to subvert the expectations of both critics and fans, and make the movie that I want to make.....Simply because I can." OR look at the writers (post James Cameron 1 and 2) of the Terminator franchise....How they re-wrote and retconned and shoe-horned things in and somehow made John Connor out to be the franchise's Ultimate Big Bad for no reason that made any kind of sense. And Dark Fate is equally bad (or so I have heard). In my mind, the Terminator franchise does not extend past Judgement Day. There are plenty of other movies where sequels fly in the face of the previous installment and seem to re-write or undo whatever it laid down and established. All I'm saying is....there is a trend in Hollywood movie-making for this to happen even though it is absolutely asinine and unnecessary.

Finished Hawkeye last night. And honestly, I think it's the best of the MCU series so far. It wasn't particularly woke. Kate Bishop was a powerful without being a Mary Sue. She was overconfident and inexperienced, but learned and grew from her missteps. Clint was a reluctant mentor but actually HELPED AND TAUGHT HER despite the past that still haunted him! They had great buddy-cop chemistry. The only real flaw I had with the show was Maya/Echo. She really wasn't given enough to do but be angry. Even with extended flashback scenes, I thought her character was rather flat and two dimensional. In fact, I'm not even certain they really demonstrated her power She has muscle-mimicry powers similar to Taskmaster. Maybe they're saving "The good stuff" for her own show. And speaking of: No way in hell did she kill Fisk in the last episode. I'm predicting right now he's back for the echo show.
And speaking of, it looks like this version of Kingpin is closer to his comic book version than the Daredevil one. He had tech hidden about on his outfit, was inhumanly strong (tossing Kate about like a rag doll, tearing a car door off its hinges, etc.) and seemed more in control of himself than the unstable rageaholic that Matt Murdock was fighting.

But I don't think that Maya killed Kingpin. Sure she is point the gun at his face....but you only hear the shot, you don't see anything. Could be that that is where she dies, and her series (like the blackwidow movie) only tells her backstory and how she got to where she was in the hawkeye series up to that point of facing Kingpin. They left that part very ambiguous. the shot wa heard but no visual confirmation.
I am very intersted in her series though, mostly because both the actress and the character are Culturally Deaf.

Given you-know-who popping up at the end of Hawkeye I decided to rewatch Daredevil. I really enjoyed it again, first season reminded me a bit of Angel S1. Deknight directed, so it makes sense. I noticed a few more hokey "90's" shots in S1 this time around that I also attribute to him. Weird thing is it's not Daredevil himself that's the big draw for me. He's good enough but I'm there for the surrounding cast. Kingpin, Foggy, Foggy's bitchy GF, the reporter and the editor, and I liked the development of Deborah Ann Woll's character. (I also find her ridiculously attractive.)
Watched DD S1/2, just finishing up Defenders now. Hadn't watched that since it came out. Not great but not terrible. Sadly not enough to build their franchise. I liked Sigourney, her acting is great. Going to pass on Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fuckup this time 'round though. If there's one thing the Defenders did right it was keeping their continuity portraying their iteration of the Iron Fist as a useless twat. If he's going to be that stupid at least they could double down on it. And they did...
"You have one job. Don't use your power." "I USE MY POWER!" Going to rewatch Punisher S1 next, then DD S3, then Punisher S2. Loved the Punisher seasons, been a bit since I've rewatched em. I don't even remember that much about S2 anymore.
I like Ben Barnes as an actor. He steals a lot of scenes he's in and chooses to play, in general, interesting characters. Wasn't super impressed with this character when I first watched it but we'll see. Might pick up on things I didn't before.

Watched Eternals last night as it became available on Disney+. While Thor:TDW is still probably the 'worst' MCU movie, it is no longer the most boring. The characters were cool. Very little else about it worked for me, though. The only excitement came in the post-credit scene (the very end one, not the mid credits one) and only because I recognised the off-camera voice.

I actually really like The Dark World......Where the THOR movies really fell off for me was Ragnarok. It was too much of a forced 'buddy-buddy Comedy' with dialogue that was aimless and jokes/humour that weren't funny. There were glimpses of a THOR movie that I could be interested in (the more darker tones and aspects of the Mythology, the destruction of Aasgaard for example, or the creation of Thor's axe after Hela crushed his Hammer) that I really felt "okay...now this thread, if they stick with this for just a bit longer and flesh it out....this could get interesting".....But then it would go right back to the not-funny-at-all banter between Hulk, Thor and Taika Waititi's character. It was just not a movie that I enjoyed at all. I was intrigued by the opening where THOR is in chains......I was intrigued again when Hela crushed Thor's Hammer.....I was intrigued a third time at the destruction of Asgaard.......But each time I was immediately let down afterwards because those threds which are very significant to the actual mythology weren't given the space or time on screen that they needed. It was all in favour of turning Thor and Hulk into this comedic duo with a not-funny comedy routine. And they're giving the reins back to Taika Waititi to direct THOR 4: Love & Thunder??? Yeah, no thanks. I also really don't like that they actually made "Fat Thor" a thing. It was funny as a small part of Infinity War, or as a Gag or a Blooper or Marvel One Shot Short.....But to have actually made in "canon" in the MCU is a complete disservice to the character. And one looming question I have about Infinity War an END Game is.......If Hela CRUSHED Thor's Hammer (seemingly destroying it for good).....How in END Game did he suddenly get it back, and why just at that exact moment? He extended his arm (as he always had)....and *WHAMMO* out of nowhere his Hammer appears! How did that happen? Why did that happen? And IF that was all it took for his Hammer to return.....Why did Thor wait till that exact moment in End Game to retrieve it? Why also, throw the whole pity-party of " Ooooh! Waaaaah! My Hammer is gone! It's destroyed! Gone for Good! I'll never use my hammer again and I'm nothing without my hammer!" Oh well, I can make new weapons. Better Weapons. Hmmmm....What weapon can I make this time? I know, an axe! That, to me, made no sense. Of course, I've only seen the Infinity movies once each....so maybe I'll have to re-watch them to get a better understanding or pick up on something I missed.
