I doubt I'll watch another season of Altered Carbon, after...
They killed off Poe, who was one of the only things I loved about the series.
I think killing off a character just for "shock value" or because it was the "logical conclusion" is becoming old at this point.

I really need to get started on American Gods. I liked the book. If you're fine with them adding and changing stuff, you'll probably like it. Depends on the stuff, I guess. I didn't love the book, but I think he's a good enough writer that the kind of...ominous quality of the immortal community needs to be well represented. The ending of the book also had a couple of really solid twists, imo.

It's the same with every book adaptation for me.

I sure didn't feel like Poe's story had reached a natural conclusion. There was so much left to potentially explore there, and most of it would be a lot more fun than Kovacs' depressing drudge of an origin story.

I didn't actually watch Altered Carbon. I'm just expressing my views on the popularity of having characters killed off. And in unsatisfying ways too. It just makes things kind of boring instead of "shocking."
Needless to say, it's getting dull.

Yeah that was pretty sad. *** I loved Stronghold Kovacs though and hope to see his return. The actor was great, the storyline intriguing. I'd be open to new characters moving in, hopefully with a refreshing chance at a new one I like just as much. ...but we'll see.

Very happy to see Brooklyn Nine Nine saved for a 6th season. I even managed to get my partner hooked and he generally hates American TV comedies.

Anyone else here watch the Three Kingdoms series? It's pretty good. What's that about? is it the China three Kingdoms? Yes. You may know about China's Three Kingdoms period from the Dynasty Warriors games or the new Total War game that's coming out. Here's the first episode. I think you can watch the entire series on YouTube if you wanted to.

I've, finally, been watching Arrow from the beginning. Pretty good show so far. Though a bit 'slow' right now but since I made it through about half way Season 4 the first time I know it picks up.

Yeah I started to "familiarize" with it after the 3K Total War announcement. I actually watched the 2 movies "Red Cliff" not so long ago. A bit on the high fantasy side, however taking that out they were not bad movies per se. What's the exact name of the series? can't quite find it on IMDB.

I dropped that one. I watched up to season 2 but it ended up being boring to me. I really like Willa Holland and the girl who plays as Sarah (for eye candy purposes) quite a lot, but I no longer watch series just because I fancy some actress/ses. And I'm really not into super hero type of stuff, that's why I don't care about Marvel in general. I had a different childhood, so the genre really doesn't mean anything to me.

The series is literally called "Three Kingdoms" or Sān Guó in Mandarin. It's the 2010 series. I think there was a previous one in the 90s. Here's the Wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Kingdoms_(TV_series)Again, you can watch it on YouTube right now.

Yes, it was, but... I found the suggestion of Maggie and certain others feeling the need to make Rick pay for his decision about Negan a bit much...
To be honest, I've been over Maggie's character since the fall of the prison. I understand that Glenn was her husband and she'd want to find him, but she could have perhaps tried to put that drive into trying to find Beth as well? I don't recall her even mentioning her sister until S5 (when they discover she's at the hospital), making it seem like Maggie assumed she was dead and gave up on finding her almost immediately. If she'd admitted that she'd thought Beth died at the prison, I would have bought why she's devastated to find Beth was killed moments before she arrived. But as it was, her sudden grief seemed like it came a season too late, because she'd barely seemed to remember her until then. I've felt that Maggie and Glenn have been pointless characters for a while.
It's why I wasn't really broken up when Glenn died, because he hadn't really done anything meaningful in seasons. It's why I found it incredulous in S6 when they revealed that Glenn hadn't actually killed anyone before, since they'd been through multiple engagements against human opponents at this point.
I can understand being uncomfortable taking lives, but he seriously went through two attacks on the Prison, Terminus and being hunted by Cannibals, without taking out a single person actively trying to murder (and eat) him, his friends and his wife? Yeah - very much. The reason I have no interest in Fear the Walking Dead is because - before it came out - I just assumed it would deal with this very subject. Then it premiered only to reveal it was "more of the same" just in a different part of the country. The only reason I'd watch a prequel show would be to discover things the "main" show didn't show or tell me. I have no idea why Fear keeps getting renewed, it's been consistently losing half it's viewership every season. And the show already wasted it's entire premise by the 4th episode of S1, when they did a pointless 9-day timeskip from "LA is in chaos" to "Everybody's dead, Dave". Because the fall of civilisation, the army moving in, sweeping and fortifying the neighbourhood, the characters first interactions with the soldiers, etc, wouldn't have been interesting in the slightest. It's not like when you sit down to watch a prequel set early in the zombie apocalypse, you hope to actually see the early zombie apocalypse... don't be daft.
But my biggest problem with Fear is it's stubborn insistence that the worst character in the show, is somehow supposed to be the main one. I have loathed Madison and wanted her to perish since the very first episode and it's mind-boggling how she keeps outliving far better characters.

Another show I'm liking at the moment is Life In Pieces. A sitcom about a family that is parcelled into 4 vignettes every episode. Great writing and cast - Tom Hank's son and Thanos' dad included Like most sitcoms the situations are over the top but they make it work. An easy half-hour of laughing.

I gave the first episode of Reverie a try. It has the potential to be quite good, if they don't fall into a "patient of the week" cycle. A little bit Total Recall, a little bit The Matrix. Saw the first episode, and it was really uninspiring. Definitely a strong candidate to get cancelled after the first season. Watching Handmaids Tale and American Gods. Handmaids is as depressing and awesome as Season 1. American Gods is....odd. And oddly addictive. Definitely hooked. Loved both of those. Didn't expect I'd get into Handmaid's Tale, but I somehow did. Still don't think it deserved the Emmy over Westworld last year though. BTW, if you guys are not aware, or perhaps heard about, but are not sure if watching or not: Counterpart. I highly recommend it. It's kind of "parallel universe" type of thing, but it's more so "parallel Planet Earth" . And I finished watching The Terror last weekend, it's really good (it also was very appropriate since it finally started to get some cold where I live). Although I don't see how a second season would work for this one, but we'll see. Plus if any of you watch GoT or watched Rome back then, you'll recognize a couple of people here. Counterpart was/is dope. Literally nobody knows about it though. I've, finally, been watching Arrow from the beginning. Pretty good show so far. Though a bit 'slow' right now but since I made it through about half way Season 4 the first time I know it picks up. The entire Arrowverse is lame at this point. Arrow started off well, but can't stand it right now. Flash was the same. Legends? I regret starting it. Didn't make that mistake with Supergirl though.

I really wish we had more kind of "historical" series and what not, that's why I'm patiently waiting for the next season of The Last Kingdom, and Vikings to finally finish the latest season. I gave Knightfall a go a few months back, gee I hated it. Boring AF, nothing really happens, not digging a single actor in that one. It gets a tiny wee better after episode 5 or so, but before that is just awful. Not even the high CGI first episode was that interesting to watch.

Really, I'll take any series that's based on historical events. I'm very picky with video quality myself, and YT shit re-encoding usually does not help. Vikings is probably my favorite pseudo historical series of the moment. And things are getting interesting, even more so, if they end up showing the invasion of the Normans (Rollo's France) and how the Caliphate kicked the vikings ass out of the Iberian peninsula once they invade. I liked Marco Polo too (it involved both China and the Mongols), but sadly that one got canceled after S2. The other pseudo historical series I watched was S1 Britannia. It has shit reviews on IMDB (actually the score raised a bit now), but I gave it a go nonetheless. It's about the second Roman invasion to the British Isles (first one failed miserably), not the best plot and some people may outright agree it sucks. And I do admit I have a bias towards Roman stuff, but for me the show was interesting enough, plus some of the characters, or the majority of them are hilarious in one way or another. The guy who worked in The Walking Dead as the "governor" is here as the roman general, and one of the chicks sounds familiar too.

Oh, I loved Marco Polo but that got cancelled and was (unfairly, in my view) panned by critics. Which is a pity because the place and time-period in which Marco Polo took place was interesting. And really, a lot of the criticisms that that show got could easily be attributed to Game of Thrones in my view. Such a pity what happened to it. I think I heard about Britannia. In fact, I think somebody I know was watching it, but I never really gave it a second thought. It looked interesting, but honestly, it seemed too much like Vikings.

Actually, it's nothing like it, the time period is way before, when the Isles were crowded by just tribal people, and we are talking about the Roman Republic, very old stuff. However if had to compare which show is better, I'll pick Vikings any time of the day.
