I've been learning the Jugg. After three respecs, I've settled on a 66464 build specced for damage, hurricane/talon incendiary. And I always failed until I learned adreniline III is mandatory.
Thing is, I notice the Jugg seems always seems to be the center of enemy attention, so staying in one place is poor tactics, hence the adreniline.
But when an escort is underway, especially in a late wave, the Jugg just draws bosses like flies on stink. Use a missle, and they just respawn right there. It overwhelms the team, unless they are really strong. Which they sometimes are NOT.
Wouldn't it be better for the Jugg to go elsewhere and draw them all off?

With the jugg, I throw the hex shield out behind us on an escort ... both for the jugg's and squadmates' benefit ... essentially cover our flank as opposed to what is ahead of us ... unless of course, it makes more sense to put it up front ... say for a Scion, Ravager or turret. Also use the geth turret ... mostly as a distraction, but also for shield replen of jugg/squadmates and reload cancel for high power/long animation weapon reloads for the jugg.
To make the jugg more tanky ... especially if you are going to draw agro away ... opt for the full evo on shields (hardened platform), so you end up with either 6/6/4/4/6 or 6/6/3/5/6 ... depending on whether you want evo 4 in turret or would rather have evo 5 in Geth jugg. With the hex shield, I opt for the offensive build and the smaller shield at evolution six ... increased weapon damage ... vice going with the very large hex shield. Mostly it seems the large shield is a hindrance to squadmates shooting stuff ... which offsets the benefit of increased protection. Evo six on small hex shield will restore 2/3 of the weapon damage you would otherwise lose for evo 6 on hardened platform (i.e. shields). Remember, that only works when the hex shield is deployed.
Conversely, I go the defensive route on the siege pulse, wrt damage reduction and numbers of pulses. Again, to make the jugg more tanky.
An example of a Jugg build.
Ya know, it kind of boils down to what works best for you and your playing style. The above is just one way that seems to work for me.

The rare occasions that I ever Jugg on gold, I'm actually hoping somebody kills what I've got locked down via melee.
I had a pretty crappy Jugg run with |inert| the other day, and I was appreciating whenever his KroSent blasted the shit out of whatever I was gripping. Batter up.
As a Jugg, I feel like I need to draw aggro. But when I'm there, I just get stuck in a melee rut...just to keep my shields up within the enemy swarm. Doesn't take very long to get shield juice back. Takes a LOT longer for the actual kill most of the time. So it ends up as: I'll draw the aggro, you deplete the wave budgets.

No, the best is to stay in the escort but to use constantly the turret and the Hex Shield to heal the team and block ennemies' fire. You'll likely die if you try to keep away the aggro by your own.

If you are playing in a team game, you must definitely help in escort, unless it's glaciar. Same is for hack objective. Nothing is more annoying than dead/away 3 teammates and you had to complete the objective in midst of ever spawning enemies on your ass.

If all four players are helping with the objective, the bosses are going to be swarming on the objective regardless of whether one of them is a juggy.
If the Juggy is well-played, they have among the highest potential to mitigate boss spam during an objective wave. Killing bosses quickly doesn't help when they're spawning right on top of you during an escort (London) but that Hex Shield and lockdown ability can both achieve a great deal.

you stay in there and suck it up ( no double entendre) . teammates will revive you with pleasure : it ensures you draw bosses to you instead of them, and they get medals. ( everybody likes a medal) . and ,hey, it's no worse than a drell stuck in a hack in the middle of London !

Generally speaking: if the full team together in the same area can't keep the escort clean, go down a difficulty level.
Everyone does the objectives, no debating.

A Jugg should be at the front/rear of the team instead of center to avoid drawing splash damage fire. Use hex shield, turret and one-second drain to keep yourself alive. In most cases you will be fine. In the others, the mission will fail anyway.

The way i work reegar jugger on plat in pugs is i help with the escort but if the rest are escorting too i have no trouble leaving the circle to proactively neutralize things that are easier to handle for me as a jugger then the other pugs.
I stop escorting to short heavy melee on host phantoms that are getting close to stun and kill them off with the reegar.
I always try to get the attention of banshees that are closing in... not meleeing but killing her fast with reegar or just getting agro over teammates by shooting her (I avoid banshee melee that shit does allot of dps and kills my reegar dps by stunlok spam. If i was dumb enough to stay in that range but if i got her agro after doing damage and she starts spamming warp balls it's good i go back to the escort she is no danger to teammates or me for some time because warpball damage is close to nothing for a jugger)
Close Prethorians i will leave the circle for because i will close to its melee range where it will stop spamming AOE beams messing up my team and will be killed fast without doing to much damage because reegar dps tends to stun and mess up their fire paterns, i try to avoid it's melee because it's stun lock hell and messes up my reegar dps.
