Each game improves another part of the series, all we need is a game that takes the best parts of each and crafts the ultimate ME game. That's the dream, though what I think was the best part is likely different than yours which is the problem. Like I've seen many say this was the best combat in the series, I think ME2 was better in combat. Its flaws in combat were there but balance of cool downs, number of powers available, gun strength etc was the best of the series IMO. I think MEs nailed the movement side of things best enough weight without feeling weightless sliding across the ground in MEA. But most here seem to thing MEA nailed that aspect. You're right that there are elements that were better in other games. I think the physics of the combat in ME:A was the strongest its been, I wasn't a big fan of jetpacks in combat but on the whole I think the combat held up better. It would've been better if squadmate AI was stronger and if we had weapon/power wheels instead of the profiles.

Mmmmm Universal acclaim is a pretty big statement Blue, Green and Red is where I'll leave my opinion of "universal Acclaim" for MET. As for a fall from grace well that is your opinion, mine is that MEA was an improvement on all the MET games except ME3. Each game improves another part of the series, all we need is a game that takes the best parts of each and crafts the ultimate ME game. That was the goal for Mass Effect: Andromeda for they kept referring to the first three games, so be very careful what you ask developers for you might just get it. Edit: The comment I read was along the lines of this. "We wanted the exploration of Mass Effect 1, the companions of Mass Effect 2, and the combat of Mass Effect 3" which seems the be the majority of comments over the years were the best parts of those three games. Of course there are exceptions, but that seemed to be the majority.

Does a prison guard get a pass because the inmate initiated it? And the power imbalance is far past prison guard. It is not nazi but its dam close and I think intentionally. Its very days of future past mutant. Just because you lie to yourself that its love, doesn't make it so. I find her to be a horrific human being and I seriously believe if the sexes were reversed there would have been a very vocal outrage of this being rape. But, people seem to think men can't be coerced into rape like they are so strong they don't cave to these kinds of pressure. But, men are people too and they do what they need to do to survive even seemingly initiate relations with someone, because that is what they think that person wants and upsetting them may very well mean death. Probably not but I think what Bioware was going for was a Romeo and Juliet type situation, which in this case helps humanize her and adds complexity to her character...at least for me. I can see what you are saying about Romeo and Juliet with them being in different clans so to speak, but the parallels to mutants when in camps in the marvel universe are incredibly strong. It is very days of future past like at least prior ot the sentinels trying to take over all humans instead of just mutants, you round up people due to a quirk of their birth where they are enslaved or killed. You make the morality a bit more nebulous because you give them super powers which can threaten the lives of thousands and recorded history shows that a few actually have done that. But, if from the time you are 13 you are a prisoner/slave and are told and shown with numerous examples if those people get upset with you, they will kill or lobotomize you the dynamic goes way off from just rival families for me. I always assumed that marvel sentinels/mutants was the intent of the chantry/mage dynamic from the first game on. And in traditional bioware style they try to fake a binary of who is in the right or wrong so they try to humanize the chantry a bit.

Too be fair its a bioware gaming board, I'm not a fan of DAI but I still hop over there occasionally while browsing DA4 speculation it doesn't take much time. Usually only to take a dig at Casandra who i view as a rapist. But, I don't get the people who haven't liked the last 3 bioware games bothering, what are you here to discuss? More power to you and all, just don't get it. Wait what? The fandom is a deep, dark place my friend. Never be surprised, because it only gets worse.

Is it bad that I never got around to finishing TW3? It wasn't bad but, eh, my dating choices are limited. ME ruined other games for me. In any case, there's nothing on these boards I can't handle. Sad to say I know of a number of people driven away to other forums on basically the same thing.

Yeah no gay romance options as it’s not in the characters nature so I can see that.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. The game is so well made, and isn't poorly written, yet my motivation wanes quickly whenever I fire it up. I think part of it is that I'm just too green into this franchise to really give a nug's uncle what I'm questing for at the start, but also that I don't feel engaged by Geralt.

You aren't, in some ways its like how Andromeda is handled. The people online make their proclamations and then expect it to apply to everyone because they have the right opinion. I have purchased the game on Steam and attempted to play it multiple times and even restarted because it was so long since I last played, but I figure I have only made a couple of hours into it at most and even my trusted friends haven't completed it yet.

If you look at gamers data via critic sites, it would be correct to conclude that the response was mixed and polarizing, and that the game overall was 'average', or as OpenCritic describes it as: 'fair'. It ranks at 48% of their game assessments, not great, not awful, middle of the road.
I'd have more time for this argument if we weren't dealing with a sequel to what was a ground breaking trilogy that met with universal acclaim.
The fall from grace is staggering in retrospect.
I could say the same about Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Transformers, Battlestar Galactica, Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Babylon 5, Robotech, the various Marvel and DC media, and any other major franchises out right now.
It's always great when a franchise like Mass Effect was brand new, but when it's 4 games in (and with bunch of other media) and 10 years old, I'm sorry but cracks are bound to show, just like with all the examples I listed above.

The first game was made using BioWare Aurora engine, it's RTWP. It feels like an Aurora engine game. Still fun though. The other two are way better though. I like all three for different reasons but I really think playing the first one is imperative to understanding Geralt and being a Witcher. I played TW2 first and then played the first one and enjoyed it so much I played it again twice before going back to TW2 and then TW3. TW3 is beautiful but too big, its the sorta game where you need 3 or 4 hrs a day to really get through it at a pace that keeps you interested and engaged. I played it twice but stopped about a third of the way in on my 3rd attempt.

You should keep Robotech off that list, it was butchered right from the start. Although that's what happens when you try and combine three completely unrelated shows into a single, cohesive series
EDIT: Robotech combined the three series Macross, Genesis Climber Mospeada, and Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross into a hodgepodge mess because the dude in charge needed at least 65 episodes to get on TV and whoops, Macross only has like 36. Whatever will he do ...

IMHO it was OK but not great either it was just average although the CGI mecha from the original series sucked though, the new "original" mecha was OK.
They couldn't get the show in syndication in US without 65 episodes, that is why animated shows like Transformers look like crap most of the time they were done in about 4 months from script to screen and anime shows like Voltron: Defender of the Universe and Robotech were mash-ups of 2 or 3 different anime series respectfully done by the same studio in the same genre.
