From what I remember, Dorian seemed to be okay with Cole bringing those thoughts forward He was most upset when Cole recalled his memories about his father. He definitely asked him to stop then. However, this was the exchange I was referring to: Dorian: That little trick, Cole, when you dip into someone's mind and take a drink? Dorian: Do you choose what you're looking for, or is it random? Cole: It has to be hurt, or a way to help the hurt. That's what calls me. Cole: Rilienus, skin tan like fine whiskey, cheekbones shaded, lips curl when he smiles. Cole: He would have said yes. Dorian: I'll... thank you not to do that again, please. It doesn't sound like Dorian was okay with it and I wondered why it still hurt him because according to Cole he wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I think perhaps it was something totally random and they hadn't programmed it so it wasn't there if he was in a relationship with you but it is what it is. I haven't played DAI in years so I didn't recall the specifics. Honestly, I think this conversation was just a bit of character building on both sides and that's that. The demonstration of Cole's ability answered Dorian's question and also shows the player that despite his usual bravado, Dorian can be apprehensive when it comes to matters of the heart. To me, it sounds like Dorian was hurt because he assumed Rilienus, whether a friend or a fling, would reject his declaration of love due to Tevinter stuff, so bottled it inside til Cole was able to access this hurt with his powers.

could someone attach images of each companion to see how they look? because personality wise, seems like it's the typical modern real life teenage group that really has no charisma factor or anything whatsoever, so would be nice to have images to get refreshed on how they look, because seems like in this game i will either have to go full no life nerd, or it will be the first game with romance that i will simply not romance anybody. page 16 a group picture.

Now hopefully the bi men mention past male lovers cause thats something Bioware hasnt done yet with their bi men lol but I'M MARRYING DAVRIN WITH A DUDE SO IM BEYOND HAPPY HAHAHA Hate to rain on your parade but they haven't actually confirmed we can marry anyone. I was really fed up in Trespasser that the only PCs who got to marry were female, so I would like them to rectify that this time round but I'm not holding my breath on it. The nearest I've got is in DAO when Zevran gave me his ring. Then if you do the ultimate sacrifice it says he never loves again, so I take that to mean he gave you his undying devotion. Actually I didn't do the US but just reloaded and tried it to see what happened. After seeing Zevran's face at the funeral I was glad I let Alistair do it as he wished.

And i must admit that this confirmation change my view about how good the character balancing is. In short i change my mind about this. Sure 7 is still a weird number but think about DAO has two mages (Morrigan and Wynne), two rogues (Leliana and Zevran) and 5 warriors (Alistair / Loghain, Dog, Oghren, Shale and Sten) DA 2 has two mages (Anders and Merrill), three rogues (Isabela, Sebastian and Varric) and two warriors (Aveline and Fenris) plus at Act 1 / end / two DLCs one extra warrior / mage (Bethany and Carver) depending on which class Hawke had. DAI has for every class three options.
DAV now has three mages (Bellara, Emmerich, Neve), two rogues (Harding and Lucanis) and two warriors (Davrin and Taash)
Yeah i can live with that and comparing it with the previous companion lineups this is fine.
Maybe Bellara as veil jumper is even a pretty unique mage maybe similiar what Dog and Shale had been as DAO warrior type. The only thing i am bit sad about this lineup that i wish that there would have been one more known face from games. Calpernia would been great but i would totally fine with an other character. I kinda like DAI companion roster with 6 complete new companions and 3 established (Varric returning as companion, Cassandra who had been promoted from secondary character to companion and Cole from the other media aka the Asunder novel)

Maybe Bellara as veil jumper is even a pretty unique mage maybe similiar what Dog and Shale had been as DAO warrior type. I think she is something of a hybrid with her abilities because of her magic bow but that is fine by me because it makes for variety. The only thing i am bit sad about this lineup that i wish that there would have been one more known face from games. Based on how it worked in the game play reveal, there were times when an extra person joins the party to complete a quest. So, that could be the reason they cut us down to a 3 person party because they want to do more of that in the narrative going forward. So Varric isn't an official companion but Rook left the tavern with him to look for Harding and then Neve who are. We could run into, say Dorian, for some quests in Minrathous, or even down in Nevarra since it is confirmed we will be going there and he has connections among their elite. He may even know Emmrich. I really don't know why they were so determined to return Dorian to Tevinter instead of letting him stay happily in the south with us unless they were going to use him (although I realise he wasn't overly fond of the weather in the south) and according to Tevinter Nights he and Maevaris were still heavily into Tevinter politics, bearing in mind they are both Magisters. Perhaps we may even end up rescuing one of them with the other assisting. I wouldn't be surprised if Dagna turns up at the Lighthouse, unless they decided to bring back Sandal. I think there is still a good possibility that Calpernia could turn up in association with the Shadow Dragons. At the very least we may encounter some of her liberati who are now part of that organisation. There is a remote possibility we will see Cassandra again. I think she is off training Seekers in the Hunterhorn Mountains in most epilogues, even when she is Divine, the only exception I assume being if you told her not to rebuild them but without the Keep they can probably ignore that. That location is fairly close to the Anderfels so perhaps there could be an optional side quest that takes us there. Lastly there is Valta from the Descent. I'll be very surprised if we don't see her again.

No because i don´t like but if Bioware brings Cassandra especially if she Divine (which she is in most world states and most likely in the default setting) back they have to also bring back Leliana and Viviene too. Trespasser was more than enough so no thanks. Like the other DLC companion Tallis she should show up in some way.

Cole was reading Dorian's pain. He couldn't know that Rilienus would be receptive unless Dorian knew it too. Speculatively, I'd say the source of Dorian's pain is regret that he didn't pursue Rilienus when he could have. He held back for reasons, probably relating to expectations and obligations placed upon him, as per his companion quest.

I read that the people who saw the whole preview at SGF said that the default is Divine Leliana, but I haven't found any proper source for it.

It could be that different DAI companions will show up with the Inquisitor depending on the world state.

What? No, Bellara isn't a mage. It's just the BOW. Old elven trick. It's a common misunderstanding.

I'm sure these are valid explanations. My point was that the timing was off but that was just due to the random nature of those companion exchanges. As it was it came across like Dorian was still having regrets about Rilienus after we had embarked on a proper relationship, which made me feel a bit like second best so if it had been really natural what Cole was doing, he should have sensed my hurt and perhaps said something like, he's happy now though (meaning Dorian). The stuff with Dorian's memories of his father was definitely worse though and he was genuinely distressed when Cole started blurting it out, whilst I felt really awkward, as I say, like someone had just revealed a bit of personal information to me as gossip which they were told in confidence and I wish they hadn't. It really was one of those aspects of Cole that I didn't really like and so started leaving him behind in order to avoid it. Funnily enough it wasn't a problem on my first run because of the bug that meant you went for ages without any dialogue triggering. Then when they finally patched it and Cole started his monologues I began regretting I had complained about it.

"Neve and Bellara are both Mages, so they share two core Mage abilities between each other" CB "Huh?" The way I understood it is this example: Neve has 3 unique spells she's the only one to have and 2 core mage abilities that all mages can unlock.

Based purely on first impressions, I kinda imagine is how Lucanus and Emmrich are with each other.

Lets hope that we get soon more infos about Taash and especially Davrin. Speaking of Davrin well having a black elven companion is cool but i still prefer someone else than just Grey Warden. Why can´t Davrin not be Fog Warrior so we can still have a black elven companion. Or what about another male dwarf (doesn´t have to be black) because i love Harding as companion but her critics have a point that we don´t have that many male dwarven companions through the whole series. Its just two times Oghren and Varric for each main games (plus if you really count them the temp and DLC ones like Orson Haver, Tug, Frandlin Ivo, Gorim, Leske and most important dwarven companion of all time the scout )

Well, we got totally new companions, which I expected and prefer. Also Varric is back, albeit briefly, I believe. Also, cameos of past characters is no surprise, though some may be a bit more than cameos. This being the case, I'd like to see: -Morrigan... a past love but she moved on and don't know her anymore -Leliana... who doesn't want Leliana?... another past love -Casssandra Pentaghast.... A brief and unsatisfying love interest. DA did an injustice here. -Aveline... for the comedy romance. -Merril ... she's an Elf, why not? -Talis ... I liked her Sandal ... Deep Road surprise? Valta ... for the Deep Roads.

I mean Harding will be the first female dwarf companion if you don't count Awakening. Sure but besides been female she isn´t a new character and some folks want are fresh dwarven face i can´t blame them.
Kinda agree with you. I believe Bio was lazy here. Lace promoted just like whiner Cullen who was made into a counselor.... give me a break. Guess Bio was short of time and decided to use a ready made char ( I played no dlc).. It's a personal hangup. I keep a past char in my head and seeing same in a new game with a different personality (ie: Cullen for example) gets under my skin.

Rest assured that July will open Taash wide open.....
