The point was to survive the invasion.
Not the upfront one, which is I believe the original posters point about this. There was no real upfront reason for the journey. In the game you find out the benefactor was concerned about the reapers, but upfront there wasn't a benefactor, and there wasn't a concrete thing to solve in going.
Exactly. This is a personal wishlist thread, so I just wanted to share, that I hope the next game starts with a better premise than MEA.

Well to me it was upfront enough. They left to explore beyond our galaxy. I was fine with that.

It's conceptually impossible for a distance to be easy for the settlers to cross without it also being easy for the government to impose control across that distance. You can go a difficult distance one easily in the not worth following you range, especially how little they hassled human colonies near the terminus system without a 600 year journey to another galaxy. But that's a different argument. The Citadel not caring about imposing control would make distance irrelevant, sure ..... as long as you trust the Citadel regime to maintain that policy forever.

Well to me it was upfront enough. They left to explore beyond our galaxy. I was fine with that. The primary concern (at conception of the AI) was to explore Andromeda. That isn't even in doubt. The MB came on board to get the AI out of the MW quickly because he/she/them knew an enormous threat was coming and wanted the major races of the galaxy to survive. That's also not in doubt. I'd say the MB was actually listening to Shepard. Someone had to. But that wasn't the original reason the AI was formed.

At least until the magic ODSY drives came out of nowhere...

Would be awesome if BioWare could get Chris Le'Toile back and then let him take the reins as either head writer or world building/setting director.

Bring back Jack Wall and Sam Hullick in the next ME. I had no problems with the new soundtrack but I did miss them.

I doubt he would give up the money that people outside the game industry make. A shame, since he was probably the only competent science fiction writer the team had. After he left, no one seemed interested in writing about intellectual ideas or in exploring more 'alien' concepts.

I doubt he would give up the money that people outside the game industry make. Besides, given the fickle nature of gaming industry and how it treats the workers, I doubt he would like to be used as property. IIRC, he has a chip over his shoulder over the higher ups for some of the writing parts (I.E Legion's N7 armour grafted into its platform)

IIRC, he has a chip over his shoulder over the higher ups for some of the writing parts (I.E Legion's N7 armour grafted into its platform) That, and how certain higher ups were wanting to 'dumb down' a lot of his more science fiction ideas. The N7 armor piece, and Legion's fanboying of Shepard was in an effort to humanize Legion from the 'alien' concept Le'Toile wanted for it and the Geth in general.
