I usually start up From Ashes as soon as Garrus is on my crew, do Leviathan as soon as possible, hold off on Omega until after Sanctuary so that it eases the frustration of not getting to retaliate against Cerberus, and I save Citadel for last as headcanon for after the end.

I usually do the Omega mission right before the Tucanka finale, wait until I have that Shepard's romance option for the squad before I start the Leviathan missions, (usually Tali, so after Priority: Rannoch) and use Citadel to cap off the adventure right before the point of no return.

I'm with you on getting rid of Omega ASAP. Honestly, my dislike comes solely from being separated from my squadmates.

What bothers me more is if I play the dlc after playing chess with Sam, I can't play chess with her again with the nice chessboard I received after completing Omega.

What bothers me more is if I play the dlc after playing chess with Sam, I can't play chess with her again with the nice chessboard I received after completing Omega. It's too bad we don't actually get to use that chessboard. It's exactly the kind Sam wants. That was a flaw but I guess that's what happens when DLC gives you something the main game wants. It would have been nice if the DLC made these minor changes to the main game. The chessboard is one and the knowledge gained from the Leviathan is the second. I would also have let the clone survive and always have us wonder if we had the real Shep or the clone running around. If Shep died on the Citadel at the end of the game, could clone Shep have taken over without anyone's knowledge? In fact, that sort of thing could play into another MW ME game which could avoid Shepard's state of existence at the end of the game. There was no body anyway so anything is possible.

For ME3, I do From the Ashes as soon as possible. (Which I believe is either immediately before or immediately after Palaven.) I do Leviathan around the mid-point of the game, usually soon after I recruit Tali. (Also, unpopular opinion, Leviathan is my favourite DLC in the entire trilogy.) I wait to do Citadel until the last possible moment/before you go to the Cerberus base, so it's kind of 'the calm before the storm'.
I also forgot Omega was even a DLC until I saw this thread. I think I usually do it near the end-game? I honestly can't remember it all to well, as I don't remember liking it too much. (I probably wouldn't even do it if it didn't help with the war assets.)

Ashes after Menae.
Omega sometime after Coup, usually a lot of fooling around then before Rannoch.
Leviathan after Coup.
Citadel after Rannoch.

From Ashes I play after Citadel coup to bring A/K on the mission. To get the most dialogue from Javik, play the dlc before heading to Menae. Leviathan after Thessia Citadel after Horizon Omega I usually play after Citadel coup You can do it before Menae? I usually do Menae first then From Ashes. Mostly because I like Javik. I used Gibbed to add Ash.

I liked the ambush mission and nothing else.

I do Pinnacle on occasion. I played it once when every squadmate got taken down at one time or other except Kaidan. Bizarre, tbh. Nothing like that ever happened again.

You can do it before Menae? Yes, you can do From Ashes before heading to Menae but Javik isn't available as a squadmate for the Menae mission.

In ME1 I usually do "Bring Down the Sky" after Noveria on my way to Therum. I pretend that we just happened to pick up the distress signal in between mass relay jumps. After Therum I go to Pinnacle Station and pretend that Shepard has Liara train there.
In ME2 I like to do Arrival shortly after Horizon. If you do it early in the game the Collector General appears rather than Harbinger. It gives the rest of the game a sense of doom and it serves as a more fitting intro the Collector General. The dialog changes a bit too. Gives the game an actual villain. I do Lair of the Shadow Broker a mission or two before the Suicide Mission. I like how the Shadow Broker threatens to give Shepard to the Collectors. Kind of makes him the "Dragon" to the "Final boss" as it were.
