I kind of want to make my canon Seramance with a Cadash because I think it's cute AF, but I keep comparing her to Dagna because she's a redheaded magical dwarf lady. I need some other way to differentiate them!

Dagna's one of those potential romances that is both charming and terrifying. "handle with care"

I need some other way to differentiate them! Think of Cadash as a kindred spirit in the world of Red Jennies and criminal mischief! They can relate to each other because of similar backgrounds, beholden to no one but themselves and those they trust! Would your Cadash be a rogue or warrior?

BTW, Rapscallioness, is your sig line from Zora Neale Hurston? Yes, yes it is. "Their Eyes Were Watching God". The last line. Oh, and Sera. I didn't want to mention it, but when she says these things to my dwarf like, "Oh, aren't you adorable.." and some other stuff along those lines, Idk why, but it bothers me; it bothers my dwarves because they're like- I'm alot of things, but adorable and a little doll are not any of them.

Oh, I loved that book! I forgot that was the last line... Somewhere on the Library of Congress web site, there are recordings of her from her work collecting African American music during the 30s. My dwarves are put off by the "short" part of her flirtations more than the "adorable," but yeah, between them, she (unintentionally I assume) reduces a Cadash to a doll. Since I don't plan to play a human in DAI, I'll probably end up romancing her eventually with a qunari.

Yeah, everybody has something that bothers them. *shrug* I think that dialogue's precious and it endears me to her, but for other people it feels infantilizing. Just like some people are like "hnnng hot" over her reaction to qunari and others feel it's too fetishy. Can't please err'body.

That is adorable! I have to ask you all something. I have a problem doing romances with my dwarf because of the height thing. My Dwarven ladies in DAI never romance anybody because of that. I mean, I have quite the fleshed out head canon romance going on with Varric, but you know what I mean. How do you deal with that? Or do you just Deal With It. Eh, it was a problem for me in DAI, not because I mind a height difference, but I do mind a height difference animated poorly, etc. They took the time with IB's mostly, but that's not one I can bring myself to play. I tried, really, REALLY hard to play Blackwall's and I'll probably never finish the PT. Blackwall himself I like a lot. I just thought the romance itself felt poorly paced and incomplete, and they didn't take the time to do the animations with a dwarf correctly (I've used a mod for romancing Cullen with a f!Cadash, and it only has slightly more problems than Blackwall's that was supposedly animated for dwarves, IMO.) Not everyone is as bothered by it as I am, though. I prefer male romances, but I've played w|w romances (I really enjoyed romancing Leliana with a Tabris and a Surana in DAO.) Sera makes some comments at the beginning that make trying to romance her with a dwarf that I just can't imagine my dwarves getting past; I could probably romance her with a qunari or a human. Josie is adorable, but I haven't been able to bring myself to follow through on one with her. I'm not actually sure if there are many animation problems with either of those two. Ironically, it felt to me as if Blackwall's was the one they expected to be the default romance for f!dwarves, which is really depressing. My "canon" solution is Harding. But for at least one of my Cadash's I used a mod to play Cullen's, and it accidentally has some very cute moments. I had no problem romancing Alistair or Zevran with dwarves in DAO, though. When I get around to playing male dwarves, I've seen enough of Cass's to know I'll enjoy it. I haven't seen Dorian's with a male dwarf, so I'm not sure if the animations grate or not. I have to ask, how bad was the cullen romance mod with your cadash? I have this mod just for my cadash, but haven't quite been able to being myself to use it.

I have to ask, how bad was the cullen romance mod with your cadash? I have this mod just for my cadash, but haven't quite been able to being myself to use it. Surprisngly, not all that bad. I won't lie, the desk scene is a riot (Vetra vanished into the desk completely, you can see her hand sticking up here.) But it's only a second or two of that scene. The kisses themselves, you often have to kind of ignore. But a lot of the rest came across as pretty adorable. First kiss on the battlements, his hands on the IQ's waist? Short dwarf proves Cullen is a boob man (where Solas apparently likes a***s.) And the lake worked well. The forehead touch at the end of the big romance scene looks like he's kissing the top of her head. Honestly, I had so many animation problems with the Blackwall romance (merging bodies, indeterminate heights, and levitating boobs ahoy!) which was actually intended for a dwarf that these didn't seem that bad.

I might have to try that mod. The way I play dwarves, Cullen always seemed like a natural fit.
I'm curious: does anyone else play not-very dwarfish dwarves? Moreso even than my humans, the Broscas and Cadashes tend to be devout Andrastians and hate the Stone b/c of their untouchable status. Aeducans much less so, but since I prefer playing women, they were glad to be somewhere where their primary duty wasn't birthing more sword arms.

My Cadash is a devouted Andrastrian and he used to diss the Stone. My Brosca, not so much - he still believed in the Stone and while he tried to learn a bit about Andrastrianism, it was mostly for Leli's sake. My Aeducan was a 100% dwarfy-dwarf however.

One of my Broscas converted quickly because the Chantry seemed to offer a bit more acceptance than the Shaperate. Another held onto Orzammar culture a bit more. My Cadashes range from an exile to the surface who's fairly traditional to converts to the Chantry whose family has been surfacers only for centuries. A lot fall into the middle, some dwarven culture, some surfacer, not religious one way or another. My f!Aeducan remained a traditionalist, mostly, but I ran an m!Aeducan who was more radical. Never finished that PT though.

Honestly, my favourite thing about the Sera/Dagna romance isn't the dangerous SCIENCE! but the fact that they're both outcasts from their society (both like ladies while coming from cultures that priortise m/f relationships) and they both find each other. And when they're together they don't need to be everything that society expected of them.

The height weirdness in Blackwall's romance was so disappointing to me because I really wanted to romance him with a female Qunari, primarily for the whole tall-and-small thing. And then I saw the scenes on YT...siiiiiiggggh. Both my Brosca and Cadash (who I just finished Trespasser with, yay!) weren't very dwarfy. They weren't Andrastians but more indifferent to religion in general because neither treated them fairly.
