This is very weird. I just finished the Kyra questline and about to leave the island. When I went to talk to Barnabas, the woman who was illegally transporting the bear was at his side and I get the chance to recruit her. I'm very puzzled because how did this come about? I did nothing differently regarding her in the first PT and yet I did not get this extra conversation?

That woman was on Kos, if I recall correctly. What was she doing on Mykonos? I o kw people travel, but I didn’t expect that. Kind of cool, I guess. The first time I played I’d killed the bear before ever meeting her. She had a snarky response to the news and that was the extent of our interaction. This second PT, I made sure I spoke with her first. She copped to her role and I told her I’d not be turning her in to Kos’ uptight rulers. No option to recruit her was available, presumably because my crew was full, I assume her stats suck anyway like Roxana’s, but I kind of wanted to see. I really wish I could remove the UPlay crew from my save. They suck and limit my options. The rest of my crew are 5-Star Legendaries, Roxana, and Tekton (Who also cannot be fired).
After finishing up Krefeld today, I took a long ship voyage. We stopped in Kythera and solved all their ills. Then, I took the long trip north to Boeotia, winding west along the Peloponnese coast. I was Alpha hunting, and was rewarded with three Alphas. I’m still trying to recall where a few specific ones are. They must be in the northeast, where I’ve not yet taken Kassandra. I saved in Boeotia, with several irons on the fire. I’ve come here earlier than in my first PT, and I’m curious to see if it alters story progression down the road. From here, I’ll likely go to Achaia and work my way south toward Sparta. I’m sure I’ll get tired of being landlocked during such a long time inland. I can break it up by sailing toward the northern islands when the urge strikes. There is plenty up there that I’m looking forward to seeing.

When strategies go wrong!!!!! So I am on Paros and decide to take down the fortified marble quarry and it doesn't seem to present any unusual problems to any other of the quarries or forts I have taken down without a hitch. So I head to what looks like the easiest access and quickest route to the warning beacon to trap it and just as I am about to enter the quarry a guard pops into existence right in front of me. Damn I think and retreat to find another way in but there is literally nowhere to hide and the guard follows me and the quarry empties and most of them have shields which I am not great against. So here I am facing at least twenty soldiers (to start with) including several archers shooting fire and then the first mercenary arrives, then the 2nd, then a 3rd, then a 4th (all higher levels than me) and finally a 5th who is at least 5 levels higher than me. Fortunately he was really dumb and just wandered round the quarry instead of joining the battle I was waging. To make it worse new waves of soldiers kept coming from the quarry and I'd guess in total I took down between 50 and 60 soldiers plus the four merc's and I gained almost 1 whole level in experience during the process including clearing the quarry after everyone was dead. This whole thing took me 35 to 40 minutes. I was literally physically exhausted.

You feel like a boss after turning that into a win! I usually pop Rush Assassination if anyone surprises me while out of reach of a standard assassination. I had a big ass fight earlier. I was only taking the small military camp on the west coast of Krete. The guards died quickly. As I was leaving, I intentionally confronted a mercenary who was hunting me. I killed her easily, but some Athenians arrived at the camp at that exact moment and attacked. Killing them, and then their friends, all in front of civvies, escalated the bounty from 2 to 5. I killed 7 mercs and a dozen soldiers. I was fighting 5 mercs and the soldiers at once. Element attacks were dropping like bombs, and I had to kite them back and forth a bit. At one point I dove into the shallows and swam a few dozen yards along the coast. I wanted to setup a quadruple Rush Assassination, but was spotted too quickly. I ended up head-shotting everyone within 90 seconds. I definitely want to give a Hunter build a go on my next PT. My non-optimized archery is amazingly effective. I think it’s the crazy Crit Damage perks I’ve engraved. Headshots are crits, so enemies drop fast. I love my four Hunter actives: Predator Shot (ultimate sniper Crit monster), Devastating Shot (turns an arrow into a rocket), Multishot (my deck-sweeper, mob-killing favorite) and Ghost Arrows (it’s great when you need it, and always fun). Multishot with an elemental weapon is nuts. I can kill an animal pack, a dozen sharks, or clear a deck/battlefield in seconds. I have a ton of good hunter gear in storage. I will definitely go Hunter-heavy in a NG+, if not sooner. I watched JorRaptor’s newest vid to see the Underworld pack in action. The armor is crazy! If this were a fantasy game, I’d eagerly play a blackguard-type and rock that armor. It freakin’ drips molten metal/lava. It’s badass. The wraith-like crew are also cool. Like I said, if this were a fantasy game... As cool as it looks, it’s not what I want for this series. I hope they don’t go all-in on the fantasy stuff as they did with Origins. I’d like to have some setting-appropriate additions in the Oikos.

She wasn't supposed to be on Mykonos? Perhaps she was shifted there if the protag didn't get to meet her on Kos. Your mentioning killing the bear first reminded me that I went to the shipwreck first in the first PT and killed the bear. Then I met her later. This PT, I met her first and then killed the bear. Both times, I opted to keep her secret but she didn't appear at Barnabas's side in the first PT. So the timing of killing the bear is a factor in her recruitment. I didn't check her stats, I just popped her in the active lieutenant roster. I'll check it later and post it. Also, there seems not be a list of lieutenants available. I checked and every single site only said how to recruit them and a very short list of known lieutenants.

I checked and every single site only said how to recruit them and a very short list of known lieutenants. My lieutenants are all mercenaries. Use Ikaros to identify the legendaries with 5-star perks. Those are the ladies and gents to beat or shoot unconscious and then recruit. In the early hours, any legendary will do. By halfway through, though, I’m firing dudes with a single 4-star perk. Only the best for my Adrestia! I thought I’d tire of having an all-female crew during this PT, but I haven’t. I do prefer the male singers, but the ladies crew feels right for my Kassandra PT. My lieutenants comprise both men and women, with the best perks active. The rest of the crew, though, has been the “female assassin” crew from Phokis onward. I like the core concept of the crew. I hope we get a ship and another crack at this crew system in future installments. I’d like my recruiting to affect the ship more than the 4-person boarding party does. Maybe we don’t get the combat perks from everyone, but do let them appear on deck amongst the crew. That would be cool. I’d love to recruit warriors, archers, rowers, carpenters, etc... Hell, if we ever have a game that is truly inextricably a naval experience, as Black Flag was, I’d even like to recruit for actual ship positions. Spoiler incoming. I know this is the spoiler thread, but still.... I also hoped I’d get to see Roxana at the final dinner table. I thought she was a great match for Alexios, and her reappearing later in the game gave me optimistic feelings. I guess the one-night stands are a start, but they should’ve anticipated that players might’ve wanted to “lockdown” a particular NPC. I certainly don’t play AC for the romances, not even BioWare for that matter. It’s just a thought for the next game. I feel like Odyssey could’ve won a GotY in another year. There’s no way this year with RDR2. I feel like it’s substantially better than DAI was (accounting for the passage of time), and we see what that game did amongst a weak field of competitors. I hope they get both the credit they deserve and good feedback in regard to “what comes next”.

I’d like to have some setting-appropriate additions in the Oikos. I have developed some solid strategies actually now around stealth that I am happy with. I assassinate everything I can or pick a good location to use Leonidas spear and chain attack groups as well as using Devastating shot to pick off solitary guards on the walls etc. I just set up a murder field and took down another five merc's. Chased one merc and killed him and then another 4 as they just kept spawning. I had a good spot in cover and would hit them with devastating shot as many times as possible to get them to engage and then take them down with Leonidas throwing spear attack from cover and then heroic strike. I need to pay more attention to engraving, I have been basically adding Assassin damage or adding additional armour or just not caring The underworld pack sounds great, I gave in to temptation and bought the map with the Orichalcum locations and first civ sites (not that Oikos has given me anything useful yet) so I may have enough Helix credits left to get the underworld pack.

I really like the all female assassin crew, I have all legendry Lieutenant's now. I just wish the songs had subtitles when the crew sing so I could know what the hell they are singing. Oh and Element Zero you mentioned earlier how annoying it is having Herodotus and Barnabas standing next to you where you take command and accidentally talking to them. It drives me nuts accidentally hitting E to talk to them instead of taking command of the ship.

Ok, wait, does the game deliberately minus the health bar if the protag is higher level than the zone?
Kass is 35 and she just boosted the spear to level 5. I noticed that the hp bar which has four segments now has three segments red lined out. She's presently in the level 30 - 33 zones. That's no fun if so.

It depresses 75% of hp but guaranteed 100% dmg. Once I discovered the cause, I used another spear.

That spear engraving for 100% extra on all damage is pretty much my go to when I decide to be stealthy. It guarantees 1-hit kills with assassinations and arrows even if you are Warrior spec. Combined with engravings like 40% arrow damage when above target and 40% damage from behind... You can clear whole forts from a high vantage point in less than 2 minutes with multishot. Just alert the enemies so they all come close together to investigate and in view. Bonus points if you use Explosive arrows and have max fire damage perks.

The Falx of Olympos, the spear in question, is the ultimate glass cannon item (or more specifically the engraving creates such). I’ve thought about using it extensively to see how it changes my experience. I’m mostly a dodging wiz. I need to tighten up my parry game. It’s just so damn easy to dodge.
While hp penalties are not part of it, the game absolutely scales the regions up to keep every region relevant. By mid-game for me, every region is 48-50. No more arriving in an area 15 levels too high and just crushing everything, as in default Origins. That was so pointless, and I’m glad scaling is now a launch feature. I do think that level-gating in general is stupid. Just get rid of levels, or have the entire game scale along with the PC. It would be okay to put level restrictions on certain items, if they feel they must. Legendary enemies like the gorgons could be level 50 by design, etc... There’s really no need for level-gated regions, though. It feels so silly and artificial.

I have become a dodging wizard too, I love parrying but I find it hard to do both (uncoordinated old person ) and parry doesn't work when the NPC's use their charged powers (when they turn orange) so yeah dodge has become the easiest option. Does anyone recommend "shield breaker"as a skill cause I suck against guys with shields or does "Rush Assassination" work on shield guys? <iframe width="23.96" height="4.52000000000001" id="MoatPxIOPT0_14266006" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.52000000000001" id="MoatPxIOPT0_35581173" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.52000000000001" id="MoatPxIOPT0_83280806" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 166px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.52000000000001" id="MoatPxIOPT0_86977961" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 166px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe>

dazk , Shield Breaker is indespensible in my opinion. Rush Assassination works on everything, including animals, but it’s not a combat ability. Maybe you’re thinking of Heroic Strike? It does work on shielded enemies, too. It’s a great damage-dealer if you’re specialized for it. My four melee actives most of this PT have been Heroic Strike, Rush Assassination, Second Wind and Shield Breaker. I’m only now starting to fill the second melee wheel, adding Shadow of Nyx and Slow Time. There are definitely more good skills than there are skill points and slots for activating them. I parried more when I was playing a Warrior. It creates a small AoE stun and pushback, which is awesome. Dodging slows time and allows for repositioning and crits. Both are great.

dazk , Shield Breaker is indespensible in my opinion. I am using Heroic Strike, Leonidas Spear throw, Spartan Kick and second wind. I love Leonidas spear but I have to be in stealth to use and Spartan Kick is great for getting some free hits in or bringing ship boarding to a close quickly but think I'll swap one of them for Shield Breaker. When do you get the second melee wheel? My spear is at Level 4. Parry is great as yeah it gives you a window of attack and perfect dodge is great cause it slows your opponent down for a few seconds. I just can't work both at once in combat.

dazk , we seem to get the second wheel at Spear 5. I know reaching 50 didn’t unlock it, and I first noticed I had it immediately after reforging to Spear 5. You have to try Ring of Chaos when you get Spear 5. It’s freaking awesome. It has a huge, impressive AoE. Even more enjoyable, maybe, is the stunned disbelief of NPCs. It’s like they just had an unwanted religious experience. I miss it a lot during this assassin-focused PT. I’m already eager to play with a Hunter/archer focus next. I wish we already had NG+, so I could just start with the best bows. The game just becomes so much better from level 50 onward. That’s when I finally get to assemble my best gear, engravings, etc... and just enjoy the full offering of gameplay options. Same with Spear 5. Every skill is way more powerful at that level.

Second melee wheel should be unlocked at level 3 Spear. Look it up. It's in the spear description. The game really doesn't inform you well about it.
Ring of Chaos is a must. At level 3 it feels like it clears half the conquest field just for your personal use. It also applies elemental damage if you have it active. Setting everyone on fire in 7 meter radius - you got to try it. The skill is useful as AOE alone and has uses for every build.
I found a way to knock people down with fists even if you have 2 slotted weapons. Just pull out a torch and hit Overpower attack. It will trigger a fist flurry. On that note, if you invest in fire gear, but your fire skill is on cooldown? Torch out, slap an enemy and benefit from fire damage again. Turns out that if you build for fire damage, the torch can be a stronger weapon at lower levels (sub 30) than anything else. The game is meant to hinder you with a cooldown on fire skill, but with the torch you bypass it. Alexios - the "Torch bearer". Feared everywhere. How do you think the Olympic fire tradition started? Alexios torched his way to the Games!

saandrig, I thought it felt like it took forever to unlock this time. I kept testing it, trying to toggle it. I think I needed to highlight the wheel with the cursor before toggling. It worked out, since I didn’t need the second wheel until later in the game. My four active combat skills were sufficient to have fun while getting to Spear 5. For a while after I setup the dual wheels, I occasionally forget to swap between non-combat/utility skills and my combat skills. It’s annoying to see Kassandra just standing there while I’m trying to trigger Shield Break, or to have her leap from hiding with Heroic Strike when I’d wanted Rush Assassination. 😖 I eventually eliminate the error... almost. Good thinking with the torch. I’m really impressed with poison during this PT. I’m better optimized for it than when I first tried it. Its cleaner than fire and the debuffs are great. Both are fun to use. I can’t decide which I’ll favor on my Hunter PT.

I discovered it by accident today when I reset my abilities (level 33 Spear Level 4), and the screen showed it when assigning abilities. <iframe width="23.96" height="4.56" id="MoatPxIOPT0_9667690" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.56px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.56" id="MoatPxIOPT0_69049629" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.56px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.56" id="MoatPxIOPT0_17666520" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 167px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.56px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="4.56" id="MoatPxIOPT0_16204971" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 167px; width: 23.96px; height: 4.56px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> saandrig they definitely do not highlight this very well in game.

If by second wheel, you mean the second tier of bindable powers, I got it before spear went to level 5 which is at level 35 for Kass this present PT. I don't think it's the spear level but rather the level of the player that opens it. I think it could be around late 20s to 30s. I remember trying to bind more power skills to the second tier when I hit 20 but couldn't. I happen to know it's there because of the first PT where the tutorial came up. Shield breaker is a must. I got it as soon as possible after bull charge and spartan kick because I want the mobs to stop hiding behind their shields. Great idea with the torch saandrig , I never thought of that. I only use it for the snakes in the tombs. I did the quest of the priestess who's a cultist. In the first meeting, she's under attack. In this PT, I just stood by and watched. *yawn* kill her already. Presently, two Spartan soldiers came by and they did the job. After yadda yadda, I escorted her to the city. Again, she came under attack, I crossed my arms and tapped my foot. Spartan soldiers once again to the rescue! I was jolly glad to kill her later. I'm glad that dialogues cannot be interrupted, unlike some other games. I was in one and during the cutscene, I saw humps leaping behind Kass. Had to be pigs because I killed one earlier. True enough, after the cutscene ended, there were three pigs milling about in the ruin.

Well, let's see...
Just bought the game last night.
- Stabbed a bunch of dudes as King Leonidas. That was pretty fun but uh, I didn't feel like a badass because they only told me how to light attack, bullrush, and dodge. So I got hit, a lot. - Picked Kassandra as my character. - Beat up some cyclops minions and let them go only to get ambushed down the road (and kill them lol). - Found a water cave, dove for treasure. - Found a zeus temple and killed some wolves. - Rescued a street urchin from bandits and then fought some level 5 wolves on the beach while I was level 2 and won. (after dying twice lol) - Got a horse from my some shady dude who is apparently my friend. (Picked the far left horse) - Went to get my money from a merchant, but he whined a lot so I let him keep it and he gave me a shiny sword. - Found another cave and killed some bandits while apparently being the best rock climber ever to get shiny crafting materials.
And that's where I stopped for the night.

sgtreed24, welcome to AC Odyssey. Use ikaros often to check for treasure chests, etc. They can be in buildings, ruins, pools / lakes, near shipwrecks. There is a chest that is easily missed in the starting area, near Kass's house, if you don't use Ikaros to look around.

I recall getting smacked around as Leonidas like sgtreed24 just described. I kept trying to figure out how to parry, but didn’t guess correctly. Not including that in the tutorial is a daft oversight. During my second PT, Leonidas kicked everyone’s ass since they couldn’t touch him.
