sgtreed24 , welcome to AC Odyssey. Use ikaros often to check for treasure chests, etc. They can be in buildings, ruins, pools / lakes, near shipwrecks. There is a chest that is easily missed in the starting area, near Kass's house, if you don't use Ikaros to look around. Thank You! Yeah, I've only used him the 1 time they told me to and 1 other time on accident when trying to use the blip ability that finds treasure or whatever. lol I'm not a big fan of using the bird so far as you can tell. I also have it on exploration mode so I probably should. Thanks for the tip, I haven't left the starter island yet, so I'll go back and find it. I recall getting smacked around as Leonidas like sgtreed24 just described. I kept trying to figure out how to parry, but didn’t guess correctly. Not including that in the tutorial is a daft oversight. During my second PT, Leonidas kicked everyone’s ass since they couldn’t touch him. Yeah, I just kept thinking, really? you aren't gonna tell me how to block or parry? I just have to dodge everything? lol I feel like they should have been a bit more in depth with the tutorial.

I feel that some SQs are a let down. Take A Life's Dedication for example. There're so many places to go to get items. Once everything is completed, the protag can see the Isu writings but not the NPC since he's not of 'divine' descent. There's no revelation here after all that work, you only choose to tell the NPC whether you see it or not.

I have a beef with Spartan children now! They were bored of hearing the same Perseus story over and over and I was tasked to do something about it. Alexios told them the Perseus's epic (made up on the spot) tale of love, betrayal, chases and even included Homer's (not Simpson) immortal written words "Release the Kraken!!!". And the little brats complained I didn't tell them the Perseus story as they have heard it for a thousand times. And kept trying to correct me... Ingrates!!! Well, kids, I hope when you grow up you are tasked as soldiers in a fort, guarding a treasure chest that uncle Misthios really wants to open...undisturbed 😈

I did a lot of stuff last night. - Ran across a burned down village and let the priest/soldiers kill the family to prevent the spread of the plague. (This was actually a really hard choice for me cause I didn't wanna just let them kill the kids but once the mother coughed and said "we aren't even that sick" that cemented it for me. That told me they had the plague and couldn't be allowed to spread it.) Then the game sends you on a guilt trip with that damn street urchin just popping up out of nowhere. *tear* - Snuck in to the cyclops' lair and stole his fake eye without being seen (only to go back later, mistakenly, and kill everyone there. lmao) - Fought the first bounty hunter who was level 5, while I was level 4 and that took me around 4 attempts. - Recovered penelope's hood for some shady bastard who now wants me to potentially assassinate my father, who also apparently threw me off a cliff. - Swam with the sharks and somehow was able to kill them to retrieve a necklace for some plebs. - Saved some dude with one eye from the bigger dude with one eye and made him my boat bitch. Did some other stuff too, as I cleared all the question marks and did all the quests on Kephallonia, and finished the prologue.

Rode to the northern tip of Attika. Got off the horse near the pier and scared a civilian so much he knocked into a standing torch, set himself on fire and died. While riding, came across two lynx. A bit further, a bear. Ok, guys, let's have a FFA. Come on now. I rode back and forth, trying to get the bear to jump on the lynxs. Back and forth, back and forth and finally, it latched on. While they were busy, I let off a power shot. Thanks for the hides. Did a bounty on Athenian soldiers. Several paces away was a herd of boars. Not wanting the critters to start marching up my back, I began shooting at them. They milled about in confusion and then latched on that the Athenian soldiers were responsible. Most of them headed for the soldiers, I took out the wandering strays. A power shot killed the melee between soldiers and boars. Did a bounty on Spartan soldiers in Boeotia. In the midst of drawing them out, I heard the warning that enemies have spotted Kass but I was too far away. The next thing I knew was a woman screaming; I have you now! A mercenary icon was above her head. What??? I didn't have a bounty! Then some guy came yelling. The minute I saw the the armor, I realised it's Cultists. Turned out the woman was Deianeira. Apparently she was out on the roads when she saw Kass and went on the attack. I took her out and confirmed the kill. Wait. Deianeira??? WTF? She's supposed to be part of a quest! What's going on? I checked the cultist list and sure enough, she's listed as dead. Then, whatever's going to happen to that quest? I read the note about her that said she's the symbol of Boeotia (held by Sparta). As long as she stood, nothing would fall. Well then, I'll make it true then, shouldn't I? You fell and thus Sparta shall lose control of this region. I went to do the conquest, fighting on the Athenian side.

Obsidian Gryphon , you’ll hear more about the four warriors of Boeotia later in the story. I’ve ysually killed two of them in random encounters long before the story advances so far. They’re actually fighting for the Delian League/Athens, with whom Boeotia is generally aligned. Sparta and Athens each have trouble holding the region for very long. I’m continuing to experience a game-crashing bug. Every time I activate Ikaros in the vicinity of a guarded zone the game crashes to desktop PS Menu. I’ve submitted probably 6 error reports with video by now. It’s more than a bit frustrating. The problems started with 1.05. I hope they iron out the bugs and rough edges. I like Odyssey a lot, but Origins remains the better, more polished game. I also hope we’ve seen the last of the Eagle mechanic (aka Far Cry Primal owl aka GR Aerial Drone). It’s a goofy addition to the game that never even receives an explanation of the course of two very long games. Why can we see through the eyes of this bird? Who cares! Just turn off your brain and use the drone... er, bird. EDIT: Muther$&@$$&&! Several minutes reporting and reloading the game just to have it immediately crash again! I hate this stupid ass bird mechanic even more with this bug. Reddit and the AC Forum suggests that the bug is worst in Elis, though I’ve experienced it all over the world. I guess I’ll leave Elis and hope it’s patched before I return. This sucks, since the story will send me (and Testikles!) back here in short order.

Sorry to hear about the bug Element Zero that really sucks. I have never been a big fan (as you may remember) of the Eagle and as you said above it just doesn't work in any practical sense unless the Isu sixth sense was able to read thoughts from birds and animals. I love the eagle itself but the use instead of the eagle vision pulse we used to use to identify guards made taking down forts etc a bit more exciting and you had to be a bit more adaptive.

dazk , this is another mechanic which Unity did best in my opinion. The sixth sense in that game was balanced, effective, usable on the move — it was basically ideal. Ubi threw out all of the great parts of Unity because of its poor reception. At least use the hard work of the teams and gameplay successes the game did have. Ugh. To assuage my poor mood, I sailed up to visit my man Sargon. Maybe Ubi saw my last report that cited 6 crashes and included censored profanity. 😂 I got the Vine Bow, the item I most wanted. I still want the spear Sauroter (so?) and maybe the Olympic Torch (because fire and laughs). I’d like some cosmetics, too. I like Reda’s drachmae (in-game, unrestricted) currency better, but Satgon’s been good to me. I might have the world’s best redemption rate at the moment. Anyway, this inspired me to swap some gear for a bit of Hunter optimization. I didn’t want to throw out Poison completely, so I kept it in lieu of additional pure damage op. I’ve not yet fought a single thing, but I expect great success. My plan now is to hit the last two legendary beasts (in Arkadia and Lakonia) and get the Artemis gear. Not only does it look good, but it’s a legendary set with a perk worth having. It looks a heck of a lot better than my currentky motley assortment of Hunter Epics.

I have been trending back to Epic's as well for aesthetic and stat reasons, I have only 2 legendary pieces equipped atm Atlantan Greaves and Amazon Tassets. I have not encountered the guy you are referring to yet Sarton/Sargon but I hope he is as kind to me as he has been to you. I am actually really happy with the kit I am running at the moment, Prometheus's Sikha with additional fire damage and the fire master perk is awesome. The Fanged Bow is great as it converts ordinary arrows to poison + 12% poison damage + 13% Assassin Damage + 20% to Devastating shot. Trying to progress to go to Athens today but am struggling playing with a head cold, makes it hard to concentrate. Is Athens good for killing cultists? I need to collect 9 more tokens to get the Level 5 Spear upgrade.

I don't think it's the game because I don't get any crashes at Elis, even when I use Ikaros. I've only experienced one crash in more than 200 hundred hours of play. I guess it's software conflict within the console mainframe that's the problem. Why can the protags see through the eyes of the birds? Because they're hybrids, not completely human. The devs have to use the bird mechanic because the game world is so large.

Obsidian Gryphon, the bug is being experienced only on PS4 Pro, so I’m confident that you’re right. dazk, I paired that sword (with “all damage is fire” engraving) with Hades’ Bow (another +fire engraving) in my first Warrior PT. In my second, I’ve run most of the game with the Fanged Bow. It gives Assassin Damage perks in addition to poison, so I built around that. Now, I’ve swapped gear into Hunter mode and switched to the Vine Bow (+ Hunter Damage perk). I remain optimized for poison damage, so I just added the “normal arrows are poison” engraving. I have to tag my man colfoley for this. He’s an archery fan and had asked about Hunter gameplay. With just a couple of hours under my belt, I can say that it’s really fun and effective. I don’t even have the very best Hunter armor set yet, and I’m destroying everything. It’s a lot of fun to snipe foes from afar, through walls/caves (with Ghost Arrow of Artemis), and to just shoot all comers in the face. I always used my bow a lot, and it worked out well because I had optimized elemental damage on it. Now, with Hunter optimization added, it’s insane. I’d say the bow is by far the best weapon in the game. My melee damage has never felt so mediocre, since it’s neither buffed nor elemental. This is fine, though, since I just shoot everything. You also mentioned minor annoyance regarding arrow crafting. They fixed the intrusive necessity of using the menu for crafting. Normal arrows can now be set to auto-replenish. If you run out but have materials (wood), your stock is automatically replenished. Pretty cool. Since I can’t play in Elis for now, I’m clearing up Arkadia before heading to eastern Lakonia to kill the legendary wolf. Killing the Kallisto Bear was trivially easy. I always favored bows versus these animals. Having done some optimization around the bow, now, the damage is overwhelming. The bear was dead very quickly. Once I complete that Daughters of Artemis quest, I think I’ll hunt down the Ostraka puzzles I hadn’t yet completed. I want some of the engravings they’ll unlock. I can likewise chase other goals for engravings, waiting for Elis to become eagle-friendly.

I was actually starting to think it might be possible to wittle down an opponent from range so if they survive to getting into melee range it won't matter if I don't have a lot of warrior damage. I just have to sit up and find a perch somewhere on these forts and snipe everyone I can get my hands on. Also your build sounds really nice.

Really. There's no way to save Roxana except that she must be romanced? That's really dumb as ass. Whatever. I killed her twice now. No regrets because devs, you write lousy 'romances' that can't even spark a flame.

Roxana is unique, from what I’ve heard, in that she will reappear later in the game. I really like her, particularly for Alexios, so she’s appeared in both of my PTs. I get the impression that no one appears in her place if she’s not in your crew, but that could be wrong.
I played far too long tonight, and completed all of Arkadia before heading south through eastern Lakonia. I’m enjoying this PT quite a bit because of the differences. Even just seeing things in full daylight or approaching from a totally opposite direction makes it feel a bit different. While in Arkadia, I pursued some bounties as far north as Achaia, before riding through the Pass of Warriors into Lakonia. Notably, I took a felucca across the sea between SE Lakonia and Kythera. I expected it to disintegrate, but I made it unscathed. Pretty cool. That was in pursuit of the daily orichalcum reward. (I keep spending all of mine on RNG, but I’ve been lucky, so no complaints.)
The Kallisto Bear and Lakonian Lykaon fell to Kassandra’s bow, and she headed to Chios to see Daphnae. The sequence of events was maybe more poignant this time (at least by this game’s standard) since I had two skins to turn in. There was flirting, sexy time and conversation before the final stage of the quest. As our protagonist humorously loves to say, “I always finish what I start,” and this quest was no different. My crew ditched their white hoods for Daughters of Artemis leathers and robes. We’ll see how long that lasts. I may like the fresh look, or I may miss my little hooded, sing-songy warriors.
I got the full Artemis set. It figures that, as I was claiming the reward, I finally got a few really cool Epic pieces. I’ll assess those, but have donned and engraved the Artemis set for now. I’m going to respec Kass’ skills. I removed the poison perk from my bow and will now use the poison skill for a while. I can always switch back if it’s not as effective. In its place, I added +25% Headshot damage. That moderate increase will turn many near kills into instakills. I think I might ditch Ring of Chaos, since I’m both never in melee and have Multishot as an AoE. I will try the Battle Cry of Ares, checking whether it’s +50% damage applies to Hunter/bow damage. I’m getting rid of Vanish, since I never use it. My elemental skills will replace it. I think I’m keeping SoNyx for now, but I still never use it. :/ I may drop it if I see something I like better tomorrow. I still love Shield Breaker, but I will presumably swap it out once I get the engraving that allows me to shoot through shields. (I am almost certain it’s in a mine in Messenia on another badass bow. That’s what I remember, at any rate.) Naturally, all damage boosting Passives are maxed, as are some utilitarian things.
So, my upcoming wheels should look like so, clockwise from the top:
Hunter: Predator Shot, Ghost Arrows of Artemis, Multishot and Devastating Shot
Melee 1: Poison Weapon, Rush Assassination, Shadow of Nyx, Slow Time
Melee 2: Battle Cry of Ares, Heroic Strike, Second Wind, Shield Breaker (replaced by fire weapons or something, eventually)
EDIT: I forgot to comment on a couple of things. Hunter has been the most fun I’ve had since my late game Warrior Alexios, and is much more effective mechanically. It has a fun tool for every situation. Ghost Arrows are great fun. Instakilling through temples, cave walls, etc... is great. I really like lining up a shot through two or three dudes and dropping the lot of them. It’s become my go-to for Leaders and Polemarches, too. A horde of bodyguards doesn’t help when invisible arrows fly through walls.
I noticed something I’ve been meaning to mention. If a target is on fire and I then shoot a poisoned arrow into him, there is a small explosion. I’m not sure if the poison is part of this or not, but I’ll find out tomorrow. Either way, it’s crazy to see some of the things NPCs do and have done to them in this game. Odyssey needed more creative trophies like Origins had. How is killing two or more foes with one GAoA not a trophy? “Two Birds, One Stone/Arrow/...” It names itself.

There's something a bit weird about the cultist level. One of them is listed as level 49 in the cultist list. To get him, Kass must fight on the Athenian side in Achaia. She's level 49. When he appeared on the field, he's 50. Took him out with power shots though I have to skip among the soldiers to get the required adrenaline up and he was like a yapping dog on the heels, shooting with his poison arrows. Element Zero, there's a special place for Roxana among the crew? Interesting. Still not going to romance her or any others. Putting the requirement that there must be a romance in order to save her is railroading. I'd prefer to persuade her as a friend. It would work if the writers had put in progress and development taking place throughout the game but they opted for fast track 'romances' and shallow char association that denied any opportunity to build any deeper friendship.

Like all non-mercenary Lieutenants, her stats suck. (Shame, considering her credentials.) This means I never actually equip her in the active roster. I wonder if and how her dialogue would change. I basically get, “Been a while. What you been up to?” “You know. Fighting, rowing.” “Cool. Cool. Make some romance?” It’s better written than that, but you get it. I wonder if she’d have something different to say if I’d not consigned her to whatever purgatory exists below deck. (I think I’ll check YouTube, since she’s never getting on deck with those stats.) I agree that it would’ve been cool if a friendly protagonist, and not just a romantic interest, could reach her. She and our misthios have some things in common. I think they’d get along fine without sex.

Aaaagghhh had the damn triple merged mercenary issue again. Why can't we just have one tool bar with 8 slots? Off to Athens today, woohooo. Unless I get distracted

So yes got distracted, had fun sinking ships on my way from Mykonnos to Athens and then stopped at the southern tip of Attika to synchronize a Fast Travel point and well while in Greece, took down some forts and then did the silver mine there - twice to be exact thanks to game stupidity. So I assassinate my way through th fort undetected and go into the mine, can't see most of the guards because Ikaros didn't mark them on his fly over so end up in open combat in a mine, miles from anything and suddenly my bounty starts going up and up and up and after killing 3 guards its at Level 3. So of course a mercenary comes but that's fine cause he's same level as I am BUT I cannot do any damage to him (literally) and he is taking 25% of my health every hit. Needless to say it was all over very quickly and then the game boots me back ages eliminating a heap of hunting I had done amongst other things. So I head back to the mine and clear it again same way and this time no bounties and no Merc's - WHY???? Landfall on Attika - pretty scenery Athens I am getting there I promise!!!!

Kass said she would place Roxana's shield at the temple of Athena. I checked quest items and do not see a shield. It would be nice to do it; they should have put it in. I'll pop over to the temple later and see if it's possible. dazk , did you check back with the kid with clay friends?

Athens looks very pretty dazk. It is kind of chuckle worthy and also worrying reading about all the bugs the game seems to be going through. I mean hell joraptor posted a video on youtube with Kass's voice coming out of Alexios's mouth. But the whole mine one sounds...bad. Lets hope I get a minimum of bad quest related bugs like that because they do drive me up the wall.

Lets hope I get a minimum of bad quest related bugs like that because they do drive me up the wall. Other than dazk running into multiplicative, body-splitting mercs, I don’t think this is necessarily a bug. Sometimes the crap just hits the fan. You only watch your wanted level rise if your crimes are seen by civilians or authorities. There are a lot of civvies in the mine, but they typically flee if they can. This means you have a chance of slaughtering 20 people with no ill rep, or killing just a few and bringing down a manhunt. I had a very similar experience in my first PT in this mine. I provoked a three-merc manhunt inside the tunnels, but I survived. There have been other times and places, of course, when I didn’t. Kassandra’s experience was far less lively. I easily sneaked in, looted and walked out without incident. I think it’s likely because I’m way better at assassination/quiet kills in this PT, due to both optimization and improved player execution. I’ve tinkered with my build and equipment as I suggested last night. I am making a conscious effort to use Shadow of Nyx more often. I actually hate unnecessary killing, and it’s been fun slipping in and out unseen, often right past the guards. That’s one of my main criticisms of the game: Most sites should not have “Kill X, Loot Y” as a requisite for completion. I understand the need to kill the leaders of a fort. Why, though, must I kill the head guard of the treasury I’ve looted? Why should I kill the most experienced Daughter of Artemis when I’ve already looted their camp and slipped away? I feel like it forces, or at least strongly incentivized, a certain playstyle. I prefer my trail of bodies be more discriminant and meaningful. Anyway, build! I’m wearing the Artemis gear and optimized for Hunter Damage. I sort of miss the elemental damage being an innate trait (technically engraving) on my bow. I hate the animation for poisoning/igniting the weapons. It’s so dramatic and immersion-breaking when done in hiding. I really want to keep the +25% Headshot Damage engraving on my bow, so I’ll cope. Soon, I’ll have a bow that has a 50% chance to not expend special arrows. That essentially doubles the quiver size for said arrows. I’ll be able to finally rely upon those arrows in my quiver for poison or fire, ditching the Poison active skill from my wheel. I’ll spend those points elsewhere. Other than Rush Assassination and the occasional Heroic Strike versus a very aggressive merc, I barely find myself using anything but my bow. (Tons of Critical Assassinations, but that’s not a “wheel power”.) With Sixth Sense at Level 3, the slo-mo delay between being discovered and the raising of the alarm is looong. It’s more than sufficient to pop several headshots into the discoverer, and the shots get bonus damage. Last PT, I was wishing I could add additional melee skills to my hunter wheel. This time, I’m wishing I could add Spreadshot (like a shotgun/AC Origins Warrior Bow) to my Warrior wheel. I guess I’d likely add the big Hunter AoE, too, for good measure. Never enough skill slots, just like DAI. Its not too bad, actually, but I’d gladly take an extra Hunter wheel all the same. I’ve also added Fury of Ares (?) to my primary combat wheel. It doesn’t play well with Slow Time (nothing does) and I’m not sure it even boosts bow damage, since I play without damage numbers. I guess I should enable them and run a test fight to see if it’s a wasted skill. It’s still beastly for the occasional melee Overpower, I guess.

Poison+Fire is an explosion. Found that out a while back. I think I even commented on it somewhere in one of these threads. You can shoot a poison arrow in any fire source and get an explosion - campfires, burning tents, burning enemies, etc. Sort of a poor man's explosive arrow. Just like you can shoot a regular arrow through any fire (torch, etc) and get a fire arrow out of it.
Battlecry of Ares boosts arrow damage as far as I noticed. Right now with full Warrior build on Normal difficulty when I enable the battlecry my arrows destroy everything. They also benefit from my stacked Fire damage engravings and gear as well. I clear forts more quickly with my bow compared to my sword. I start to wonder if Warrior spec is even worth it Of course I use the Bow of Hades and the "40 % more bow damage when above target" plus the "40 % damage from behind" and "100% damage, 75 less Health" engravings . I just need to stack enemies together a bit and use Explosive arrow from above, or Fire arrow with Multishot. If enemies try to run out of range after that, my Fire DOTs usually can kill them anyway. One thing about Warrior build though - when I Overpower someone, he doesn't get up after. Well, he might on Hard difficulty if he is a Polemarch, but a couple of more slaps are enough even there.
Oh, and a tip - careful with Explosive arrows. Hit an enemy that's too close and you will blow yourself up as well. Very dangerous in Conquest when an enemy can jump in your face in the last second. I use explosive arrows in big melee fights now only after I do a maxed 7-meter Ring of Chaos.
I haven't seen any major bugs in the game in 140 hours. I got maybe 2-3 crashes, some slight and rare graphic glitches, one buggy cutscene, one horse flying up in the air (not Pegasus). Nothing like Mercenary multiplication and such. And I hunt Mercenaries on principle.
