I did more conquests this PT than the last because it's such a blast to watch bodies flying. And I got more engravings every time a tier is completed. The next point in story is to go to three locations to find mom which I've not done yet. I chose to go after the mercenaries after completing the arena; I didn't do this in the first PT. I know what Skora wants and I'm not going to do that special fight. Anyway, Kass is now #1 mercenary. I got a surprise when she hit it. She got a Phobos skin. Would be freaking funny if NPCs see this coming at them and run away screaming. But of course they didn't. There was one instance where I was waiting for a group of soldiers to finish fighting some boars. There was a stream nearby. As Ikaros came to roost on Kass's arm, Phobos ran into the stream. Presumbly, he's thirsty and wanted a drink but his entire head was beneath the water. I saw a dog running around in the water on the way to the arena. I went hunting cultists that are not tied to the main story. One of them seemed to be a mercenary so I tracked him down. When I arrived at his location, I just stood by. Why? Because a squad of Spartans was attacking him. I stayed out of the way and waited. They killed him and I confirmed the kill after they left. I figure I'll take a break from AC OD after this PT and pick it up again once they add NG+. I'm hoping the devs would kindly straighten and flesh out the modern story for future DLCs; it's pretty threadbare. Of course, I'll also want more stories from Greece. What do you folks think should be carried over for NG+? Money? Ability points? Gear? Every sail and figureheads?

Poison+Fire is an explosion. Found that out a while back. I think I even commented on it somewhere in one of these threads. You can shoot a poison arrow in any fire source and get an explosion - campfires, burning tents, burning enemies, etc. Sort of a poor man's explosive arrow. Just like you can shoot a regular arrow through any fire (torch, etc) and get a fire arrow out of it.
Battlecry of Ares boosts arrow damage as far as I noticed. Right now with full Warrior build on Normal difficulty when I enable the battlecry my arrows destroy everything. They also benefit from my stacked Fire damage engravings and gear as well. I clear forts more quickly with my bow compared to my sword. I start to wonder if Warrior spec is even worth it Of course I use the Bow of Hades and the "40 % more bow damage when above target" plus the "40 % damage from behind" and "100% damage, 75 less Health" engravings . I just need to stack enemies together a bit and use Explosive arrow from above, or Fire arrow with Multishot. If enemies try to run out of range after that, my Fire DOTs usually can kill them anyway. One thing about Warrior build though - when I Overpower someone, he doesn't get up after. Well, he might on Hard difficulty if he is a Polemarch, but a couple of more slaps are enough even there.
Oh, and a tip - careful with Explosive arrows. Hit an enemy that's too close and you will blow yourself up as well. Very dangerous in Conquest when an enemy can jump in your face in the last second. I use explosive arrows in big melee fights now only after I do a maxed 7-meter Ring of Chaos.
I haven't seen any major bugs in the game in 140 hours. I got maybe 2-3 crashes, some slight and rare graphic glitches, one buggy cutscene, one horse flying up in the air (not Pegasus). Nothing like Mercenary multiplication and such. And I hunt Mercenaries on principle.
I’ve had much the same experiences. Bow of Hades was like a second primary weapon on my warrior. Fire was a blast. I’m finding poison less flashy, but just as good, on my Assassin (now Hunter). The debuffs from intoxication are really nice. I haven’t used the “+100% dmg/-75% health” engraving, but should probably use it on my Hunter. I almost never get damaged, so it’s almost a no-brained, I guess. I’m the guy who never any of the experiences bugs I read about online. It sucks that I’m experiencing a game-breaker now. I skim the AC official forums but rarely post. That place is full of idiots. There doesn’t seem to be a large awareness of this bug (crashing when using Ikaros in Elis) there; just one thread in which unhelpful input is offered. I hope Ubi is more aware and working to fix this. PS4 always has the largest player base in these games, so I imagine they’re seeing the reports. I’ve submitted almost 10 myself. 😖 I’d hate to drift away from this game because of being unable to progress. I’m just over 100 hours into this second PT. Mercenaries bounties are fun for me. I like how there’s no legal consequence for killing a bounty. If you attack someone in public sans bounty, all hell breaks loose. If there’s a bounty, people watch in shock, but don’t interfere. Obsidian Gryphon, I don’t recall anything shady at the Arena. You can safely complete those fights and collect your Arena Fighter set. For NG+, yes to all of those. All money, resources and collectibles should carry over. Character and spear levels, of course, should carry over. It will be a bit humorous to be a god instead of a scrub on Kephallonia, but will even out after that.

Kass said she would place Roxana's shield at the temple of Athena. I checked quest items and do not see a shield. It would be nice to do it; they should have put it in. I'll pop over to the temple later and see if it's possible. dazk , did you check back with the kid with clay friends? I did yesterday actually, no change she just sits there saying the rain came and now they are gone again.

I discovered the poison/fire exploding thing when I got the Fanged Bow. Throw torch at snakes, shoot poison arrow and bang. Hate the damn snakes.

I'm wary of that special fight; I suspect Kass would be fighting Skora. The way he talked, it seems that he wants to die and prefers to go out fighting in the arena. That being said, I wish the conquest battles and in some arena fights, had been a little more realistic than a FFA. I know, FFA allows the wheeee factor / demonstration' of the powers but breaking a formation apart with those powers would have been awesome and more challenging.

I know, FFA allows the wheeee factor / demonstration' of the powers but breaking a formation apart with those powers would have been awesome and more challenging. I figured you thought that. Skora was serious about retiring. He left. It’s just a random mercenary you’ll fight. I normally wouldn’t spoil this, but I didn’t want you to miss out on the rest of the Arena quest/Arena Fighter set. The combat in this game is silly. I did see a Spartan training his troops how to fight in formation, but no one ever does so. It’s every man for himself — very un-Spartan. The animals are still driving me crazy, too. Their behaviors couldn’t be more unrealistic, and their aggression levels are often laughable. I’m taking a meal break. I’m presently in Elis and haven’t had an Ikaros crash yet since returning. Some players said that coming here for the main quest allowed them to play without the bug; others said they still had the bug. I hoe my luck holds. I’m using the Bow of Eros now, having recovered it in Messenia. It’s such a good bow. With the Harpe of Perseus and the Club of Heracles, my assorted Hunter and bowshot damage is pretty crazy. Cooldown is reduced by 25%, and Adrenaline is constantly refilling via hits and headshots. Adding on the +100% dmg/-75% hp pushed it over the top. That damage doubling is universal, so it fixed my Hunter melee-mediocrity, as well as my weak Assassination damage. I’d been waiting for this particular bow all game. I’m not sure I want to grind this game again like this. I hope NG+ arrives in a reasonable amount of time.

Just took down some huge huntress (maybe daughters of Artemis?) encampment in Lamia for nothing. Must be quest related later on or something. Took down a cultist, killed a merc got another piece of the pilgrim set. I failed two quests today because wild animals were attacking the person I had to deliver to, I attacked the wolves with my sword and swear I didn't hit the guy I was delivering to and he just keeled over and died.

Element Zero , oh in that case, I'll do the special fight. I know right? It's like Troy and other dramatic battle movies. The only realistic army battles of the ancient world for games anyone would see is Total War. Not TW Rome II though. That one launched in the most farcical manner. After that boo boo, the TW devs did their homework. dazk , I always save before handing in any SQs. Such an incident happened to me too but I was able to reload and prevent the NPC from dying. P.S. Stupid board is acting up; I have to retype three times because the first two were dumped by the board for some reason. That special fight is as I thought. I killed Skoura. Repeating the five fights is just busy work. Anyway, I got the armour pieces and put them away in the ship chest.

I have a suspicion that your dialogue choices with Skoura at the arena decide what the last special fight will be after he tells you he retires. Because for me it wasn't a Merc fight. Oh, no. It was another bloody Greek tragedy.

So weird day playing today, had started Athens and doing the Perikles quests but was bore so decided to chase down Cultists. That led me a long merry dance over several regions but killed 3 and now have the full pirate set of Legendary gear plus 4 cultists tokens towards level 5 spear. Trying to decide now whether to switch to the Pirate gear or keep my Assassins breastplate which I love!!!!!!! Also killed 3 or more Merc's but got the hardest fight in Messara (SP?) fighting some Athenian guard captain Deokles who was beating up merchants for not paying taxes. Man I struggled and he did major damage with his mace. Didn't help that I just reset abilities and rearranged the melee bar as I tried some new abilities but eventually prevailed. Also killed The Iron Ketonian Bull Lots of sailing and now Adrestia is all epic or Legendary.

I saw the NPC getting attacked and shouted "Hold on, cavalry is here". Hit the Slow time, aimed real careful at the wolf attacking the NPC. And then, just like in some movies, I cried "NOOOOO" in slow motion. I forgot I just left a Conquest battle and never changed my Explosive arrow loadout. Remembered it just after I released the shot. So, wolf blown up, NPC blown up and Alexios just rode away trying to look as innocent as possible.

It was another bloody Greek tragedy. Really? Who was the other optional fighter? (Edit. oh. latter realisation of your statement. ) The NPCs are really funny. You go up to one with the quest icon over their head, they talk; either sadly, angrily, etc. After accepting the quest and the conversation was over, they gave a start and stared at the protag, as if they only then realised who they were talking to; a tall intimidating looking misthios. I noticed that most women and men were shorter than Kass but then, humans in the ancient world had smaller physiques and Kass was a hybrid. Sometimes their remarks when Kass passed by people sounded different; questioning, recognition, annoyance. Really wish to know what they were saying.

Obsidian Gryphon, I misinformed you! I always fought some random merc, or at least that’s what I thought. Maybe I’m so tired of fighting by that fight that I’ve twice killed Skoura without realizing it. 😆 I always leave after the first round of battles. I went back post-game to do them again and complete the armor set. There was no way I was fighting the same 5 or 6 people again with the quest’s story completed. I’ve had a few questgivers killed by wolves, one by lions, and a few by me because they were part of a mob and I didn’t care about the XP and drachmae. Kill em all! I also killed myself in a tomb tonight. I was carefully sniping snakes, since I have only 25% hp. I had forgotten to switch from poison to standard arrows. I fired while standing near a lit sconce and got caught in an explosion. I had to think about what happened for a second. dazk, it’s funny your trip to Athens ended up with you in Krete and fighting naval battles. I like Athens. New quests keep popping up as you complete the current batch. Krete is one of the most fun places in the game, in my opinion. It has humor, cultists and epic stuff. Lamia is basically a normal village, rather than a stronghold or fort. It’s inhabitants are just uber-aggressive. I recall my first finding it around level 20 or so and thinking, “I’ll come back later”. By the time I returned, I’d realized that these ladies just live there. I was planning to quit earlier tonight. Instead, I finished Elis, excepting the new quest. It’s undoubtedly the source of the bug on PS4. If I use Ikaros anywhere near Elis town the game crashes. I did a few quests without the bird and found it refreshing. I really prefer the game without that stupid mechanic. It’s so out of place and trivializes much of the challenge by tagging everyone. From Elis, I sailed out and terrorized merchant ships as part of a bounty. I attacked pirates, too, for another bounty. While in Elis, I kept getting quests from a scantily clad female athlete. They all involved persons creeping on her. Granted, it’s not her fault and it’s her choice, but maybe she’d consider more clothing? Kassandra won’t always be around to kill “shitty goats” and the like. Eventually, I arrived in Boeotia, met up with the Polemarch, and began to hunt the living champions of Boeotia. I lucked into most of these guys in my first PT. This time, I’d only killed one via chance meeting. This meant that I got to complete an interesting quest chain to discover and render vulnerable one of the champions. I helped Sparta secure Boeotia in the Conquest battle that followed, had some reunions, and rode south. I fulfilled a couple of bounties and parted ways with Artaxerxes in Megaris. Then, it was on to Arkadia to meet up with allies concerning the Archon. I saved just before that meeting. I think Hunter is probably the most efficient way of playing, followed by Assassin. Assassin feels the most like traditional AC. Warrior is the flashiest and makes you feel like an unstoppable war god. Each is pretty cool, and of course aren't mutually exclusive. I got the Atlantan Dagger, finally, and swapped it into my loadout in place of the Harpe of Perseus. HoP’s Cooldown perk wasn’t all that helpful, anyway, since Hunter skills don’t have cooldowns. This Dagger is hilarious in that it’s too large to serve even as a sword. It might make a good dagger for a Cyclops. It’s a shame, since the design is cool enough. It’s basically a glowing orange-obsidian version of the Flickering Blades from Origins, but double the size. I’m sure I’ll get an itch to go Warrior or Assassin again before too long. It’s fun, though, one-shotting Polemarches through walls and the like. I pretty much snipe any leader I notice, since his security detail is irrelevant. You can snipe those guys through buildings with no one the wiser, and no bounty accrued. Indiscriminate killing of leaders always seems to be on some bounty checklist I have queued.

Killing leaders works toward getting the "1-5% to All damage" engraving. You got to get a crapload of leaders to complete it. The last Tier of that engraving requires 25 leaders alone. It must suck to be an ancient Greek leader that lives near a Fast travel point 😂

It must suck to be an ancient Greek leader that lives near a Fast travel point 😂 Damn, that’s a lot of leaders. I’ll put in the work, slowly perhaps, in order to have everything unlocked for NG+ files. If the requirements are too crazy, I might stillbe working on some of these during my first NG+. Sometimes it’s fun to have a few things left to earn during NG+. I completely ignored the engraving goals during my first PT, just focusing on RP and story. I’ve paid slightly better attention this time. I’ve started mopping up all of the Ostrava puzzles to start. I’m well on my way toward most of the engravings, and have many maxed already. There are some I’ve barely touched, though.

I hunt all of the Ostrakas in my 2nd run, but I won't bother anymore in the next ones. I don't even use any of those engravings and the only possibly good ones are the crit chance and crit damage on Full/Low HP (for when I use and don't use the 75% health debuff).
Worst jobs in Ancient Greece - Leader, Polemarch, Mercenary, guy that cleans Forts 😀 I had a sort of a vicious cycle in Lokris. Fast travel point is right between the Leader house and the Fort. Kill Leader, kill Polemarch for a seal, loot fort, do the Conquest, repeat. The conquest battle is right in the salt fields and that seems to be the only place where my CPU gets to 90+% load. I got a 8086k CPU and if the game can put such a load even on it, I don't even want to know how my previous CPU would have fared.

Started on the find mom quests. Went to the sanctuary and a fight broke out at the olive tree. A mercenary showed up just as the fight ended. I wondered if he would start something but he just stood there, as if surveying the aftermath. Then he said; You call yourself a mercenary? And moved off. Wrong thing to say pal! I went after him and kicked him to hades. After that. went to hit on some bandits where the leader recognised Kass and asked; how did you do that, eagle bearer? during the fight. So I jumped off a sync point, landed and saw this... This reminds me of a time when Kass was trying to climb over a small pool at a tanner but slipped as her grip failed. She didn't land in the water but the game thought she did so she was swimming in midair around the pool.

Wow, so I’m on my way to the Ghost of Kosmos. Meanwhile, I earned my choice of two nut-punch endings. I did everything pretty much identically to my first PT, except in one scene. I recall one single line of dialogue that felt different and resulted in a facial expression that made me say, “Uh oh”. Fast forward to the end, and wow. I went ahead and reloaded the ending to see what changes might hinge upon that ending scene and was treated to the two variants of the nut-punch. I’m glad I saw both, as I now sort of feel like I’ve seen the most important endings. I didn't have to compromise morals to get them, either, since it all came down to similar, but slightly different, wording in a single scene. I was nervous going in, yet still surprised by what I got. Very cool. (There is one other difference I considered: Last time I confronted the Ghost first, then did the family conclusion. I’m not sure if that mattered.) saandrig , you’re a lifesaver with the trick at the blacksmith. It eliminates the pain and aggravation of shopping. Just in general, you’re all over this game’s mechanics. Thanks for all the good posts and info. Man, the game isn’t over but it certainly feels like it is, in a way. I have an errand to run before finishing. I think we get a new Alpha Ship to hunt tomorrow, as well as the Oikos update (and 80 orichalcum discount on the Store item). I’m not ready to quit playing Odyssey, but I sure do wish we had a NG+. EDIT: I wanted to add an observation regarding my build’s effectiveness in the final battle. The big bad had no freaking chance. I play on Hard, and the foe never got in an attack. Devastating Shot, Time Slow, three or four more DS and the enemy is toast. Poison was dripping from their dying form in the end. Badass. Hunters are unstoppable. I did finally get a cool, well matched Epic Hunter panoply. Every piece is optimized and looks good. It’s all realistic gear, too. None of it looks like VG nonsense.

Okay, I’ve finished the game 100% with each protagonist, have seen everything twice, etc... This is the post in which I stop being vague and get specific. I know this is the Spoiler thread, but most of you haven’t finished the game yet. I feel that everyone should experience something fresh and unspoiled. So, I encourage you to avert your eyes and resist the urge to open the spoiler block. Do you really want to ruin the game’s details and endings three times over? Of course not! Alright, down to business... This is a good game. Much to my surprise, each protagonist and each Deimos felt very different to me despite having identical lines. Lots of credit is due the voice directors and the voice actors. These two are more different than Male and Female Shepard, in my opinion, despite ME’s game being changed and customized by the choice of gender. I’m surprised and impressed.
First, my Alexios PT. He was a lot of fun. He felt kind for a professional killer, and came across as very passionate in his feelings and goals. (Michael Antonakos gets the credit for this.) His goal was to save his family and that’s what he did. He felt very convincing in his scenes with Deimos. He really believed he could save her, and it worked out. In the end, his parents, sister, and even the man-baby step-brother were united as a family. For her part, Kassandra as Deimos seemed very unbalanced, unsure, a bit unhinged, and maybe reachable. It wasn’t too out of place when she relented in her fight atop Taygetos.
Now, my Kassandra PT. Melissanthi Mahut made nearly every minute with her enjoyable. She has such a smooth, believable delivery. Kassandra seemed more level than Alexios in disposition. By this I mean that her personality in general seemed a bit more staid; and she didn’t sound as passionate as Alexios/Michael in those emotional moments. Alexios as Deimos was a ball of rage. Dude felt like he was full of malice. He didn’t really feel redeemable to me, and Kassandra never sounded to me as if she believed he could be saved. I made all the same decisions in each PT, but arrived at dramatically different outcomes.
My initial ending for Kassandra was one in which Alexios pretended to surrender, but then gleefully murdered his own mother. Damn, dude. Kassandra had to kill him, and then hold her mother as she died. Greek tragedy indeed.
I reloaded to see if and where things might change. The only difference achievable was for Kassandra to decide Alexios was unredeemable, day as much, and fight him to the death. It was a powerful scene, as Alexios was again thrown from Taygetos. In this scenario, though, Myrrhine rejects Kassandra as a killer she can’t bear to look at ever again. It’s even worse than watching the mother die. Honestly, I hope it doesn’t taint my feelings on Myrrhine. I have to remember that idiot asshole Myrrhine only exists in a game in which the pieces all fall this way. I wasn’t about to reload again, so this was the ending my Kassandra got. She had a pathetic, awkward dinner with the dad who threw her off a cliff and the step-bro who was still being aggressive in a barely passive way. Shitty end to it all, Kass.
These tragic endings felt very appropriate for Kassandra. She never seemed to believe in Deimos’ ability to change; and Alexios-Deimos seemed to be pretty much evil. It ended in the only way that made sense, in my view. I’m actually pleased, though feeling a bit meloncholy, that it ended this way. Other than killing Nicolaos and/or Stentor, I don’t see any substantial divergences from these endings. Certainly, I could make some different choices; but all paths lead to some form of a handful of endings, and I’ve seen the important ones.
I killed Aspasia in both PTs. The “cultist clue” at the top of her list says, “The Ghost is a liar”. She starts trying to manipulate the protagonist like a weak-willed fool. “You’ve thought for yourself your whole life. Let go and follow me.” Fuck you, bitch! I can’t see ever letting her live.
The final meeting with Sokrates in the graveyard was more bitter sweet with Kass’ family in shambles. I ended up liking those side NPCs more than I’d expected. Being buddies with Sokrates, Alkibiades, Hippocrates and Aristophanes is life than a bit Forrest Gump; yet it all felt okay in the end. I look forward to whatever comes next for Kassandra and Alexios via DLC or whatnot. I don’t have time to edit and check for typos, so I hope it’s not too messy. Posting from a phone can be tough.

That's true. I heard the hesitation and doubt in Kass's voice when she talked about Alexios with her mother. I went with the notion that she would want to try to reunite the family, despite the odds. She would give it her best shot so I got the happy ending for all. I'm unlikely to have Alexios make different choices when I get around to play him. I've a preference to effect a good ending if there is such an option in a game and I hardly RP really. I always choose the straight good road for game protags.
I'm never one for unhappy stuff which is why I couldn't finish FO3 because I find the game world depressing. After the first season of the Walking Dead game, I stopped after finishing it because it's so heart breaking. I've enough of the s*** in rl, I don't want the same in games.

Okay so a few frustrations with the game at the moment, Athens is doing its best to change my love to hate for this game.
How the hell does the Bounty system work? I did the mission for Perokles contact to steal a bag of votes for ostracising someone, no one saw me go in and no one saw me come out. Hand the stuff over to the dude then get into a conversation with Sokrates and some how he knows that it was me that tchanged the vote bag over!!!!!! Like f%#$ing how and my bounty suddenly goes up to Level two and two merc's instantly appear in Athens. So I think great I'll go kill the sponsor but he is in a completely separate region that I haven't even been to. Again WTF?????? So one merc is my level and I kill him with 4 arrows, no drama's the other is way too high for me to take on so I just avoid him. Annoyed I decide to pay off the bounty and move on and am now on almost zero drachmae having spent a shit tonne buying resources to finish upgrading the ship.
So walking along and accidentally walk into the armoury in Athens and a guard gets all excited so I just run away and hide. He and a mate are looking for ages and can't find me but a civilian who wasn't even present at the fort comes up to me in cover and starts attacking me with a sword and my bounty level jumps straight to 3?????? So I walk into a fort accidentally, leave with no one being killed or even attacked and without stealing anything and a civilian attacks me when I am stealthed and I now have a huge bounty on my head AGAIN and no money to pay it and a sponsor again miles away in another region.
So to prove a point I then made my way along the whole wall around Athens and killed every guard in stealth to get some money and shit to sell and not one change in bounty. Seriously annoyed to tell the truth, it was shit like this that ruined a lot of gameplay for me in Unity with crap line of sights and stuff.
Also I am not sure the 15% Assassin bonus for having the pirate set on is working. All the pieces have assassin stats whereas that wasn't the case with my old gear so that +15% I expected a big jump but my assassin stats only went up a miniscule amount. Am I just not understanding how it works?
Anyway enough of my rant back to kill more people.

dazk, I wouldn’t worry about bounties. Unless you’re about to do something that’s significantly easier w/o hunters, who cares? Let em hunt you. You can fight or hide as you see fit. The bounty eventually drops anyway as time passes. I’m going to load Alexios, I think, and start building the collection of Epic pieces he lacks. Kassandra’s collection would be much smaller if not for the storage aboard Adrestia. I’m glad they added it. I’m not sure why it always has to be patched in after release. Game Devs: Assume people want storage and NG+.

Am I just not understanding how it works? Anyway enough of my rant back to kill more people. Well, I think it has to do with your dialogue choices when speaking to Sokrates. Did you choose; I'm responsible? If I recall right, I didn't choose to admit it in the first PT and there was no bounty. I did get a bounty in this PT because I told the truth. Presumably, someone's ears were very long and reported it. It's pretty hard to figure out the causes of bounties. Maybe it has something to do with protag behaviour and the missions taken. There could be a hidden rep counter for each region and civvies would behave accordingly. It could be your protag has a bad rep in that region and civvies would get hostile more quickly if they see protag behaving suspiciously. Or it's just plain bad bean counter. I've been doing the mom quests and attacked Pharos which was under Athenian control. There's a mission to destroy the Athenian fleet which I did. I expected a bounty since Kass was attacking Athenians but when I went to Pharos to take out the bounty sponsors, they're Spartans. Doesn't make sense does it? Logically, the Athenians would put up the bounty during the battles but when Pharos control went to the Spartans, the bounty should have been removed. Ok, so it wasn't removed. I didn't care and just walked into the two military outposts. The mercenaries that came after Kass also met their end. Both dummy bounty sponsors were sleeping since it was night. I wish the manual saves allowed the player to name them because there's no way I can tell which save belonged to which char unless I keep notes.
