Good luck dragontartare and a couple of tips, leveling up your gear takes lots of resources so collect as much as you can whenever you can. The stat changes on the gear happen at intervals, so unless you are struggling there really is no need to upgrade early and really you should only upgrade stuff every 10 levels or so, as a rule of thumb. You do get a lot of weapons and gear thrown at you, and upgrading all of the time is very cost prohibitive.

There was nothing great in the weekly selection, so I tried my luck with the random boxes and managed to score... a pretty good mount.

That is all very helpful, thank you! I have picked up some iron, gems, and leather, but I don't think I've picked up any wood aside from the evidence for that old woman's shipment in town. I do hope to play stealthily, so I'll make sure I keep an eye on the adrenaline.

Anyone have advice for what to do about the level 5 mercenary currently hunting me? Is it best to wait until I'm level 5 too and then confront him? Or is it possible to catch him by surprise while at a lower level and assassinate him? Kassandra is level 3 right now, and this dude is hanging out really close to where I need to turn in a quest.

There are trees, thin olive tree saplings that should have a white triangle above them that you can hit "E" to loot, plus you'll get it as a reward for doing some missions. If you hold down "V" Kass will do a short range scan that will make a noise and a white line will shoot out towards it showing it detected a resource or loot. It is fast and can be hard to see, but if it detects something like a resource a white or coloured triangle will show above the resource.

You may need to invest a point in the ability before it works (I can't remember), you can eventually invest 3 to make the range greater.

Re the mercenary, kill him.   Mercenaries are hard and they are going to be the bane of your life for a while. Try to get he first attack in via stealth but it is unfortunately one you are going to have to melee it out with him in my experience. Did you invest in Heroic Strike yet? SPACE is to dodge and to parry "Q" and you just need to get the timing right but you can also spam it if you are having trouble as soon as you see an enemy about to start an attack.

Any mercenary 5 levels or higher will be tough to start off, don't be afraid to use the run away tactic or hit and run away shoot an arrow etc. 

EDIT: If you are attempting a Fort, it usually has a signal fire, Ikaros should spot it and you should disable it as one of your first priorities as it will make waves of enemies and mercenaries come if they light it. If you kill a leader, be prepared that lots of mercenaries may come all at once and you should get the hell out of dodge ASAP.

The skull is actually a part of the heavy bladed staff (Hades's Executioner). And I was just using that for the Heavy Bladed kills needed for the weekly. For the bow, I'm using just a really simple Hunter skin to match the peasant look. I leave the celestial gear for the demigod looks.

At high levels though, you'll be like... light the damn fire! I need 40 Spartan kills for the weekly!

Killing leaders in the forts is the best value as you are guaranteed at least two mercs sometimes 4 or 5!!!!!

Hey are you guys dabbling much in ACOD? Yesterday I kept getting a strange stutter in the game that I was like oh shit the games going to crash!!!!

Also the Merec's seemed to have adapted their behaviour since I have been killing literally dozens of them every day, one may be there when I attack but within seconds two or more appear even if I have no bounty and there are far more incidences of there being two together.

Ikaros is also going blind or the game has decided I am being too effective, I have on several occasions scanned a camp or a farm or whatever (not the big forts) and marked the guys, killed them and as I am leaving I have had several more guards/Bandits spawn out of nowhere and even wolves?????

I haven't played since the small update earlier this week/late last week, so can't say for sure; but I don't recall anything of the sort, sorry.

No but my game has been having a serious like 1 to 2 second stutter where it pauses and continues on.

Start an NG+ and then do the DLC's. It's much faster second time around especially NG+ and you can change to Alexios.

I did some digging and it looks like it's a known bug in the latest Nvidia drivers.

Thanks for the info.  Interesting that it has hit the Assassin's Creed franchise pretty hard.
