Thanks for the info. Interesting that it has hit the Assassin's Creed franchise pretty hard. Something specific to the AnvilNext engine, then? Not specific to AnvilNext since Planetside uses a different engine, but I would say its more of an engine issue then to the games.

I actually did run into this once today. It just froze for about 10-15 sec. I thought it was going to crash, but then it recovered. And I don't recall running into that problem before. Okay, so it's not just me. Maybe it is the patch...? I did some digging and it looks like it's a known bug in the latest Nvidia drivers. Windows 10 & 451.67 WHQL driverSeveral games randomly freeze for a few seconds during gameplay. Affected games include Assassin's Creed Origins, Planetside 2, Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. [3038632] EDIT: A fix should be coming out soon. Soraif all goes well, the fix will be out in the coming week, among a number of others also fixed. I did wonder if maybe it was the last Nvidia update I did. Thanks Hrungr

Good luck dragontartare and a couple of tips, leveling up your gear takes lots of resources so collect as much as you can whenever you can. The stat changes on the gear happen at intervals, so unless you are struggling there really is no need to upgrade early and really you should only upgrade stuff every 10 levels or so, as a rule of thumb. You do get a lot of weapons and gear thrown at you, and upgrading all of the time is very cost prohibitive. I wasted so many resources early on and you are going to need them for leveling up your ship as well Information re abilities if you want to read it: If you are playing stealth obviously gear with assassin stats is important but adrenaline is important too so gear that gives you adrenaline on assassination or per hit is helpful as is melee resistance and chance to resist half damage . You also need to upgrade your spear which in the inventory has its own image and it goes up to level 5, level 3 gives you access yo much better stats on your abilities. So when you get a message to go to Andros Island you want to do that ASAP but watch out for the Wild Boar.
Best abilities early on are I think Rush Assassination, Heroic Strike, Shield Breaker and Ring of Chaos. That is all very helpful, thank you! I have picked up some iron, gems, and leather, but I don't think I've picked up any wood aside from the evidence for that old woman's shipment in town. I do hope to play stealthily, so I'll make sure I keep an eye on the adrenaline. Anyone have advice for what to do about the level 5 mercenary currently hunting me? Is it best to wait until I'm level 5 too and then confront him? Or is it possible to catch him by surprise while at a lower level and assassinate him? Kassandra is level 3 right now, and this dude is hanging out really close to where I need to turn in a quest. Hey Dragon another couple of things if you haven't figured them out for yourself yet, the Arrow Racks you can loot have resources in them as well as arrows. Holdig down "X" when you call the horse will make Kass auto-mount the horse and the war supply crates are lootable before you burn them. When you stand still and Ikaros lands on your arm if you press "E" he will feed or Kass will pat him.

I haven't needed to burn any crates yet, but I will keep that in mind for when I do. ----------------------- I didn't play much today, but Kassandra did steal obsidian from the cyclops and killed almost everyone in the compound, except for one guy kneeling in the courtyard inside who never gave me an assassinate prompt. I let him live. I guess I was supposed to, despite him having a level 4 label. I also tried to fight that level 5 mercenary that's been hunting me, which was a huge mistake I was only one level below him, but my gear was still level 1 and 2, and I really wasn't doing any damage. I see a blacksmith -- where I assume I go to upgrade my gear -- right in the village where the mercenary likes to hang out, so I guess I will try to sneak by him. I'd like a better bow, at least. I stole a better spear from the cyclops' guards. Here are a few screenshots I took.

The whale It was annoying, but not too bad for me with the torch. First thing was that I put on the crown from the "Underworld" which gives +100% torch damage and then I just fought Spartans at the arena. It did take almost two full rounds to get the ten kills so about 2.5 kills for 1 torch death, but since they were only level 50 versus my level 99+ it went fast.

I think that mercenary fight left a very sour taste for me during my first hours of the game for you really need to be level 5 and with how the mercenary system worked it was difficult to get to level 5 without them being nearby all the time. Its much easier later in the game to fight mercenaries that are a higher level because you will have combat experience, gear, and skills to overcome the level difference. Better gear might help a little, I think I had a level 5 weapon and everything else was below five when I fought them. It was over 200 game hours so its hard to recall exactly what happened with me.

It would be nice if Talos was locked behind something to make sure a level 2 new player wasn't being hunted to frustration. Even if the requirement was that you needed to reach level 5 first before he spawned.

An update for you all. I got tired of the freezing my game was doing so I uninstalled my nVidia drivers and did a clean install of the ones from the end of June. The majority of freezing went away the only time my game froze for a short time was just after starting the game and I did a quick turn so my guess is those assets weren't loaded yet. I was then able to do my daily and finish my two weekly quests without any additional freezing.

Just puttered around for a bit. Just stumbled across this Elite Lvl 99 Lion chilling out on the side of the road. It took so long for it to react to my presence, I thought it was a friendly. A Sparta Kick later though and it was a friendly. I don't have that horsey!!!!!! I have encountered that random Lion but damned if I remember where. Have also encountered a L99 bear running amok in a village and a wolf. The weirdest thing is when you come across some Leader just sitting or wandering along a road by themselves.

I've seen that too, but more when I was actively bringing down regions. If a region is weakened enough, the Leader will get exiled and left to wander on his own. The lion I found not far from the red salt pond.

Just out of curiosity has anyone else been having the game drop completely to 0fps and then recover? Normally my settings seem to be about 45fps, but now every few min I will drop instantly to 0fps and then after 30 to 60 seconds I will recover. This seems to have started with the last patch, I am also having the same thing with Origins, but I never played it until today so I have nothing to compare it to. No but my game has been having a serious like 1 to 2 second stutter where it pauses and continues on. I've been playing ACOD. I didn't notice any stutter. *touch wood* I don't want to get one by talking about it.

What video card do you have as it seems to have been linked to an Nvidia driver update It's Nvidia 1080 ti and I'm not in the habit of updating graphic drivers the moment there's a new one. If the games I play are running well, I do not see the point of jumping the gun. Don't rock the boat. It's not recommended to keep gpu drivers updated when everything is working fine.

I updated my driver maybe a week ago and AC Syndicate froze quite a few times. I assumed it was just the game because I was mainly doing DLC at that point, but maybe not. Odyssey froze twice today, briefly. Talos found me just as I finished my first cutscene with Elpenor. That "outsider" quest put me at level 5, so I equipped some of the new gear I'd just found, picked a new skill, and waited for him. Here's his corpse! Before that, I'm pretty sure I single-handedly helped spread a deadly plague through Kephallonia. I spared an infected family because I thought I'd get a quest to find a cure or something, but nope. Now I guess everyone is going to die. I suppose it's good that I'll be leaving the island soon? Because I'm an assassin now, but not an Assassin?

Also impersonated Hermes. I'm sure he won't mind. He never raises the question, so I am sure he doesn't.

If you are attempting a Fort, it usually has a signal fire, Ikaros should spot it and you should disable it as one of your first priorities as it will make waves of enemies and mercenaries come if they light it. This. So. Much. This. Especially early on. Later on you will be lighting the signal fire yourself! You might even play a tower defense game by Sparta kicking anyone that climbs up there to you.

some Leader just sitting or wandering along a road by themselves. That's usually because you killed all his friends, robbed his treasury and burned down his supplies. When you (or the game) lower the region power enough, the Leader is an easy picking somewhere on a lonely road.

I'm currently playing on nightmare with my invincible loadout with Kassandra. Only two problems. 1)Smoke bombs/grenades. When an enemy throws one with you right beside them, you will die even if your health is full. 2) The leaping enemies with a heavy weapon. If they hit you just right, you will die in one hit even if health is full. I find this to be very frustrating. I have no problem seeing when an enemy throws a fire bomb to get out of the way, but the smoke bomb I cannot avoid. What I started doing now when facing mercs is to use my bow for long range attacks. It may take a few seconds longer, but at least I don't die unexpectedly. The leaping enemies can come out of nowhere when facing x number of them at one time. So to counter that I run away where I can see them all, then deal with them.
When I say invincible, I mean I have my melee resistance at 105%, elemental at 90% and ranged at 91%.

LOL I discovered the Tower Defence Game early on in my first PT on Kephallonia. It's a damn good tactic for handling mobs as ladders are great choke points!!!!!!
