Pretty much - Odyssey is my first AC game. I get that the modern day stuff is a big deal for the story, but I was just bored. Would've preferred cutscenes, rather than it being playable. This is what I wrestle with, even after playing a bunch of AC games now. Yeah, the modern day elements - Assassins, Templars, Abstergo, the Animus, etc. are core to the franchise. And yet none of the AC games I've played felt like they were improved for having them. I'd burn Abstergo Entertainment to the ground if it meant I never had to hack another computer! See this is why I shrug at the whole Layla drama. I'm just not invested enough in it. I think you have to play from the Ezio games when Desmond was the modern day character to fully get it and get engaged with it.

CIA Archaeologists sounds like a cool idea, but if they only exist as playable wrap-ups on a chapter in the historical story then I think I'd rather just be able to skip a cutscene

The game that had the best MD is without a doubt AC3. That game had full on modern day missions.

That would be a definite buy for me if they did the A1 and all the Ezio games, especially if they updated the game play as well as the graphics. Have to be a bit of a KB gymnast for the Ezio trilogy some thing I am definitely not.

They were proper missions to. They were generally trying to find modern day Isu artifacts, stealing them from Abstergo or finding new ones.

Gotcha. Her under-reaction to what she did is pretty damning already. Can't wait to see how much worse she gets O.o How many of the past games have you played? That’ll determine how much the other thing many don’t like will affect you. I've only played this one and Syndicate so far. Kassandra just got to Atlantis and spoke to Poseidon and Atlas. It's so pretty there I might die from eye candy overconsumption. 1. What happened to Hades at the end of episode 2 with the golden circles (or glyphs)? I thought I would get to ask Poseidon, but no. So I guess it was supposed to be obvious? 2. Do people hate Layla because she... ...murdered Victoria and then didn't seem too beat up about it? ...or is there more coming from her? Did you not have to fight Hades? I did. He survived, and just as Kassandra was about to deliver the fatal(?) blow, Poseidon showed up to break up the fight. He opened a portal for him and Kassandra to go through, and these golden glyph circles started appearing in the battle arena. Hades was immediately afraid of them, and when one appeared beneath him, he disintegrated. Poseidon didn't look too worried about it, so I assumed he'd done it, but did he kill Hades? Send him back to Tartaros? Something else? I feel like I missed something really obvious here.

Worth having in a game, at the least. The Layla stuff in Odyssey was just a waste of time. I didn’t care about any of the stuff she did because all I wanted to do was skip ALL of it.

Today might be the push I need to stop playing Odyssey. The one weekly took nearly two hours to complete unlike other ones, but I hate the ship aspects of Odyssey with a burning passion so it just makes a situation I don't like worse.
So for those that are interested:
Weekly #1 - Destroy a named Pirate Ship (Fine)
Weekly #2 - 5) Athenian Penteconters 5) Athenian Trimeres 15) Athenian Soldiers (Sailors don't count)

Oikos items this week: Celestial crown set piece and Athens owl figurehead
I got pretty lucky and finished the ship bounty in 30 min because Lokris, boetia, and euboea were under Athens. So there's like 4 pents and 3 tris SW of eoboea and then fast travel away and back to respawn. Still took a while because there were pirates too.

I feel like every errand I do for other people in Atlantis is just going to piss off Poseidon. Or, well...fake Poseidon, anyway. I keep reminding myself that none of this matters even in-universe, and then I stop feeling remorse for all the random soldiers I've killed.

I think its how ship combat works in the game. It feels awkward and overly cumbersome when I am doing it and it feels a lot more about luck then anything else while at the same time it feels like I am moving in mud. Then odd things happen regularly (which is semi-common in AC games, but in this combat it feels a lot more lethal) as an example today when fighting four ships and was getting close to death I was trying to get a ship to the point of boarding so I could regenerate health and tried to use my archers, but for some reason the game flipped what side of my ship I was aiming towards and I still don't understand how that happened.

Yeah, I am pretty sure ancient Greece didn't have a plague named Kassandra with the amount of people I killed would have put a pretty big dent in the population at the time.

Meanwhile mine I think has killed less than 300 people, most of which were through unavoidable means such as the required Conquest or Naval battles.

Have you played AC3 or Black Flag? I remember when I first played AC 3 and had to do ship combat it was like WTF, because all you really have to do is look in the correct direction and hold down RMB to aim and LMB to fire and it was almost too intuitive and there is no prompt except in the tutorial. When I started playing ACOD I had to ask again because I had forgotten after 4 years or whatever it was. The real key is to to take charge of the first engagement and concentrate solely one ship if you can. I wait till the other ships give me a clear line at the target ship and then use Travel Speed till I get to within 300 to 250 metres then row at full speed and ram the target as close to centre as I can. Using fire arrows and javelins really helps after ramming and having Lieutenants with extra armor for the ship or extra health (or both ATM I have +60 or 90% armour and +30% Health) is a bonus as well. Once it's down I board it then high tail it out of there using Travel Speed as soon as you can unless I am after resources. With the targeting flipping you must have looked away from 90 degrees that is either straight right or left of the Adrestia.

I was the leader of my region (Australia, NZ and a few other places) in kills and ships sunk when I played AC:BF. I killed IIRC over 140,000 enemies and sunk over 19,000 ships. Gotten less competitive and a bit soft these days. Only 35,965 kills and 966 ships sunk. Mmmmm must round those numbers up it bugs me

I know I played those games, but at that era looking back they all have a tendency of blurring together. Normally I will take out the entire group of enemies because I will focus burn on the weaker ships first to build up my flames and reduce damage I am taking. So with the weekly its the non-elites first then the elite. I really don't have any idea why it bounced because I was firing towards the one ship and then it just bounced to the other side, it just got frustrating for me because it was the first ship of the pack. With the currently weekly I think what increased my aggravation was going out to find the different ships. I pretty much was sailing around groups of islands and then fast travelling to a new location to see if there were others around different Athenian areas. Not to mention after clearing a few ships my other nemesis of the Mercenary Bar required to be purged so I had to travel and Ghost Arrow the bounty givers. I think it really boils down to just adding more and more to the system and making making the systems clunkier. It was the same problem I was having with some of the AC games around AC4. They were trying to do so much with the characters that the control of them became a bit of a fight to get exactly what you were wanting so using the right item felt like I was trying to climb one of the walls in the game, trying to go in a window and did a complete circle around it before getting the right prompt to enter if I was lucky not to be noticed. While also feeling like the sailing speed is on the slower side of what I would want.

Mmmmm must round those numbers up it bugs me You must have a direct lineage to the first settlers. Carrying on some proud traditions I am joking, joking, I swear!
