I'm now at the point where I'm forced to do the scripted conquest battle and I can kill enough of the enemy to have that big brute "D" start smashing heads during the battle and come after me...thing is that I can't beat him with my hunter abilities because the setting won't allow it and I'm not good with the sword but also, I'm level 46 and my legendary snake gear is level 40 but I don't have enough items to level my gear up. Padawan, the best build for Conquest IS Hunter. Item A - maxed Multishot. Item B - Explosive arrows. Item C - KAmalakingBOOM. Gear 5-8 levels below you is fine. Your bow is the only thing you should try to keep within 5 levels of you. If you don't have Explosive arrows, Fire/Poison ones are also fine, especially if you have engravings for that type of elemental damage. I prefer fire. Your gear should have Hunter damage (obviously), elemental damage (helps alot), Adrenaline on hit/crit (to build it up quick enough for a barrage of Multishots). Other stuff is optional, nice to haves are headshot damage, elemental buildup, bow charge speed, chance to resist damage. As for other Conquest skills in a Hunter build besides the ultimate Multishot - Ring of Chaos (for CC purposes), Slow time (for taking that perfect shot and escaping a tight spot), Battlecry of Ares (extra damage) and an elemental skill if your bow doesn't have the engraving to turn regular arrows into elemental ones. With that build you can clear Conquest battles in about 3 minutes tops on Hard difficulty. Just make sure you don't hit someone near you with an Explosive arrow or you will blow yourself up too... (don't ask). And get the bow (just for the engraving) that Oikos offers this week for 100 Orichalcum. 25% Hunter damage for just 15% less armor? Where do I sign? I'm a 62 year old female RPG who knows nobody in real life who plays video games and you guys are my only help (along with googling like crazy). Thanks for all the help. I'm going to respec, because I haven't been using Ring of Chaos since I was doing things from too far away usually but I can see it'd be wonderful here. I do have explosive arrows and maxed multishot. Heck, I only have 20 Orichalcum right now...need more! I'll get this stinkin' battle done tonight, come hell or high water I just freeze up in situations like this, panic, fall apart, and start thinking I should have had kids so I would have grandkids who could play this part for me.

I usually don't even play games on easy, just normal (never hard) but really, it does make things more fun for me...I'm here for the story and characters not for getting my head crushed in. We didn't not have kids on purpose, it's just the way life worked out, but playing RPGs and getting in a hard spot is when I think it'd be nice to have some RPG kids or grandkids...or even neighbors who play. But we live in the middle of nowhere and no one knows I play games anyway.

So, once more I don't feel like I got very much done in the game last night. Even though I probably did. But hey I got to Athens and I was really curious to see if it was going to be a fully fledged city like Novigrad, or just a minor settlement...and holy cow I think I'm in love.
Anyways I also met with Perikles when he was dealing with Kleon, interesting overall...and the interesting thing to note is since he is the 'leader' for the Athens area I guess we can assassinate him to do a conquest battle. That was a bold stroke, if true, on the part of Ubisoft. Not that I am going to avail myself of the opprotunity unless it comes up for specific story reasons then I *might*. *cough*. Anyways he gave me three tasks and off I went.
I decided to do the Phidias branch first because he was the one I rememember most from the cult meeting. Seems a lot of bull crap was happening because the 'mob' wanted his head (ain't Democracy grand?). There was a guard on the door, option was to either bribe him or kill him...Alexios went with the latter considering I think he is the more blood thirsty and blunt of the two (really starting to delve into his character recently, and then maybe how my Kass will differ...when I get to her). After talking to him some guards popped up and they were all like 'you think you can attack us and get away with it', and so I engaged him to distract, more guards showed up, then civilians, so I picked up sticks and went to meet the guy at the docks.
So off to Seriphos island I went...and the naval combat is now a net negative for me and I think this makes the game worse then a lot of other recent games I've been playing, still great, still worthy of getting the DLC and doing a second PT...but man this was annoying. I got 'in combat' with a squadron of enemy ships and well I didn't want to, I wanted to focus on the story, but I couldn't dock since I was 'in combat' (even though no shots had been exchanged). A. while the combat itself isn't bad its almost impossible to avoid. B. I swore that every time you got health back it recharged your boat entirely, but it only seems to do it partially, which makes it bad when C. Seems like every combat is a pitched battle. It'd be fine if it were odds of one or two to one, but i was facing odds of at least five to one. All the while i wanted to do some GD story.
Anyways i also now n have all ability tiers unlocked, and GAoA, so going to make sure my Assassin passives are good to go and then fill out my second ability wheel.

A friend couldn't live down the fact that they could get stuck over simple movements. Back then, they were playing Quake II (I think), the first chapter. We were both playing it actually. We were talking over the phone and they mentioned they couldn't get onto a lift, this was right in the beginning of the chapter. I described what they ought to be doing, what keys to use. They came back a day or so later; they still couldn't get on the lift so I went over that weekend. I sat down at the keyboard, all prepared to lick the problem for them. My friend all eager to know what I did. Ok, exit out the door, look around the room, the lift at the far end. I moved the avatar towards that. The lift platform was just a foot above the floor so I did a run and a little jump. Got on the lift. My friend was struck dumb. What?!!! They did the same thing, why couldn't they get onto the lift? They sat down and tried it themselves. They got on the lift. I was ROTFLOL by that time and they were ready to kill me. Anyway, we figured it was just bad timing on the keys / judgement of distance that was the cause. And they admitted that FPS was probably not the thing for them.

There are two AC games that have one event in them each that I really hate. One is in AC3 the QTE in the fight between the two lumberjacks, I managed to do it first time I played but every time since I get my son to do it. The second is from AC Liberation, going for 100% there is a part on a boat and you have to make jumps without landing in the water but the last jump no matter what I did I always ended up in the water, never mind I had just done several jumps successfully. After about 6 attempts I got so cranky I rage quit and threw a bean bag which just happened to catch the light fitting on the ceiling and smashed it and the light bulb all over a carpeted floor. Vowed I'd never let a game do that to me again and so far have been successful but I also just stopped chasing achievements.

So, as compensation for a bug, anyone that reached level 70 before the next story update (most likely due in January) will receive an extra 30 ability points.
Ha, if there ever was a ploy to sell exp boosts... Anyway, hold my wine, Arena and Conquest, here I come!!! 😀

Expect I should hit L70 without even having played the new DLC yet.

Posted this in the other games thread thought I'd post it here too. So reached L68 in AC Odyssey yesterday, on 8,108 kills, and 99% completion and have travelled 1,500+km's. Still roaming the Greek world clearing Orichalcum sites and question marks I haven't revealed plus doing some story missions I missed. I found Myrinne ages ago but found two quests (black & gold markers) in Argolis relating to finding her. These are obviously not necessary as otherwise I would have not found her. Anyway impatiently finished these redundant quests only for one of them to be a trick by some guy to get me to clear his bathhouse of snakes. Tried to rage kill him afterwards but he had plot armour. I have only deliberately rage killed one other NPC in the game and that was cause she dissed my mum. Discovered that I also haven't finished Xenia's pirate missions but don't have any quests for her and don't remember seeing any quest markers for her so back to Keos (?) today. Also accidentally stumbled across Markos in jail in a fort on Kos which I had not ventured to before, those missions strained my patience a bit. Found an Orichalcum site that you cannot loot at Fort Arkys, its under water but the water isn't deep enough to be able to dive to loot it. saandrig I tried the exploding arrow trick on the signal fire yesterday and it sort of worked but didn't. Did you trap it first cause I didn't, the signal fire lit and all the guards became alert but that's all that happened. It was like the game didn't know what to do. Found the best "Alpha Animal" site yesterday as well, don't mess with the Alpha Rooster. All hail the Taurus's of the world: Game continues to impress me visually and not rushing so much at them moment lets me enjoy the scenery a whole lot more:

Really hope the Jan update comes with NG+. At present, I'm taking a break from AC Odyssey and currently playing POE II Deadfire. I'm dead sure the devs did some adjusting / add on to the dialogue because I'm seeing / hearing different stuff. Wonder if they fixed the Aloth romance. It's the hardest one to trigger.

Well this is now my third attempt to write this post about what I did a lot so I am going to be brief (it crashed twice wiping out the post).
So the most pertinent things was after going to a blacksmith with my new gear to get it upgraded and playing around with the visual customization stuff I discovered somewhere I came across a shroud that is good visually, but without the stats and something I wanted. Black but with a half mask covering Alexios's face. I really upgraded a lot of my gear last night too including actually spending the resources to get my Ashen bow up to the current level.
Secondly I have discovered that the politics of Athensare shit. Kind of want to assassinate Perikles and conquer Attika in the name of Sparta just so history can resume its proper course and wipe out all those vile people. Ick.

I've been avoiding this thread up till now so I wouldn't accidentally spoil myself. But now that I've finished the main quest, and all the secondary quests (just heading into the DLC now), I thought I'd finally poke my head in here. First up - great game. I have to say I enjoyed it every bit as much as Origins. (though I'm still salty they didn't have kittehs in Greece!) Played as Kassandra, and got the "good" ending. Of course, in games like these I like to... push against the boundaries and see what happens. I had a... somewhat surreal experience tonight, I thought I'd just post a few screenshots without comment. Serious end-of-game spoilers though, YHBW!

saandrig I tried the exploding arrow trick on the signal fire yesterday and it sort of worked but didn't. Did you trap it first cause I didn't, the signal fire lit and all the guards became alert but that's all that happened. It was like the game didn't know what to do. You need to light up the brazier. Works for me every time with a Fire arrow. The Explosive arrows have lower fire build up than the Fire ones and I am guessing they don't light up the brazier and the soldiers just get alert from the noise. I get reinforcements every time I use a Fire arrow, so that's the trick to use.
Alexios is now 70. Time to get from 50 to 70 with my Kass. I am itching to start a third playthrough with Kass again. Almost done with Origins and it's last DLC. I miss Odyssey's combat soooo much when I use Bayek. I doubt I'll ever do a 3rd run on Origins. Not with that combat and those quests. And the malaka grind for pelts and materials.

So lets see.
I rather enjoyed the rest of Perikles's party. That I now have three different leads in three different regions to pursue to find Alexios's mother. I was also plesently surprised to see that entire 'quest chain' did not involve a single bit of combat. I was honestly expecting the Cult to crash the party right then and there. So well played.
So with Attika's story basically done now off to do question marks and find the two cult members before I go off to do more side quests and then go onto the next bits of the story. (Rinse, Wash, Repeat?) First question mark with the military port of...something...in Athens though and boy was it the best assassining I have done in a while. Predatored one guard, then climbed up to Assassinate another and...well I had to keep on climbing up on this one area repeatedly to hide...finally I got it down to the single Captain of the area and he was looking around, so I dueled him and got through pretty much without raising a fuss...or my bounty level. But then a mercenary hunting me showed up regardless and I had to take care of him. *grumble*
The second one did not go too well. Salamis Quarry. I did manage to one shot Brison the Cultist with Predator shot which caused the guards to look around but it ended up with basically a huge two mercs versus me plus all the other guards battle. Maybe I was kind of rushing to hand it over to my fiancee though, and I did get through it. But I am getting so sick and tired of random civillians joining the frey against me. I mean I don't blame them on some level but for them to strike me I think when I kill a civvie causes the bounty to REALLY go up. But I mean its all "I don't want to hurt you!" *grumble*.
Anyways I am off to try and hunt down the second cultist in Attika. It says talk to a Polemarch or continue my Oddyssey so I am hoping its something I don't have to come back to, but in the meantime if I trigger a conquest battle in Attika...so much the better.

saandrig I tried the exploding arrow trick on the signal fire yesterday and it sort of worked but didn't.
Oh it definitely lit and smoked away like crazy, but I thought the intent was to destroy the thing. The guards became alert and a few looked around but their alertness didn't last as long and no merc's came. I am hoping to hit L70 with Kass today or tomorrow, still clearing the map of question marks and missed quests. Have a whole region in the North East and the Makedonian Lion to do as well.

*grumble* The second one did not go too well. I made the mistake of leaving Athens too early and had to go back and do quests that would have better fitted doing at the time. In particular do all the Sokrates and Alkibiades quests there as they unlock at least one cultist.

colfoley, to save you one particular trouble. One of Sokarates's quest has something to do with a horse thief. He'll say; go talk to the thief. The thief is smacked right in an area controlled by the military. You have two choices; bump the military. Or simply sneak close enough for the thief to see you. He'll take off like a bat to the street. He'll circle round the military held area so you don't really have to be at his heels.

I always triggered the guards no matter what I tried and that when I got taken out by a bear with one swipe cause I think I killed too many civilians who decided to join the fight.

I won't even pretend to comprehend how you managed that. In the first PT, I carefully removed the soldiers. Then when the little snot took off, I chased him. In the aftermath, I realised I was wasting my time killing soldiers / chasing him. In the next PT, I just crept into the warehouse, made sure the soldiers were nowhere near. There's one who's rather near but he's on the right with his back to me. I just inched forward until the little snot saw me. Away he went and away I leaped out of the window of the warehouse on my right, dropped down to the street and waited for the thief to come running into Kass's arms. In the present PT, I opted to run towards him. He couldn't brake fast enough.

Oh well got it done in the end by sneaking to him.
