When you finish the main arcs, can you play past that or does that cut you off from the rest of the game?

Thanks Obsidian Gryphon, I googled how to kill Chrysis. (had to do another side quest)then I was able to kill Aspasia. It still only shows 98% complete. What else is there to do to finish the main quest? There are a few very tiny islands in the eastern and southern Aegean. If you never set foot on them, they’ll show uncompleted. If you still haven't hit 100%, I’d recommend scrolling slowing across your map, looking for small islands that are still grey.

When you finish the main arcs, can you play past that or does that cut you off from the rest of the game? You can keep playing. They’ve been adding new free content, both quests and live events, since the beginning. It’s a “persistent world”, but you can eventually run out of cool stuff to do. Live events can only entertain for so long. Still, it’s a huge game and has great support planned well into 2019, most of it free.

So I'm doing my new fresh playthrough where hopefully the bugged quests are resolved. This time it'll be more of a 100% thing since I already know how to play and most of what's in the game. Doubt I'll keep updating here other than finding stuff i didn't find last time.

For me getting the Hermes Homie achievement was a small island south of Samos called Kradia Isle. I was starting to get angry when I landed there because the achievement didn't pop, was glad I decided to search it thoroughly because it popped when I reached the middle of it.

I see version 1.12 has been released. I might jump back in and switch things up by leaning Warrior. There are tons of good Mastery perks, but I’m thinking of continuing to pump each of the three basic damage types higher. This would theoretically allow me to gear up for one style while still being pretty kick ass in the other two. I’d already pushed each of the three categories over +10%. I’ll have to see how far those extra 32 skill points will get me before deciding.
I haven’t been boarding ships since I started playing as a Hunter. Boarding a ship is a needless risk when you get killed in 2 hits. (I use the Falx of Olympos perk on my Hunters.) I just cleave disabled ships and be done with it. Switching back to a Warrior would allow me to once more enjoy the Fiery Ring of Chaos on enemy ships. There’s no more enjoyable way to clear a deck; and I kind of miss the NPC reactions to that skill. Most importantly, I’ll be less likely to unfavorably compare Odyssey’s gameplay to HZD if I’m not focused on archery.
I’m glad we get to purchase tiers 6 and 7 for our engravings. Being capped at 5 was annoying me a little. I’ll master the new S2 Mercenary Tier before spending on training. No need to waste drachmae and resources, after all.
I’m glad this dev team had yet more tricks to lure me back into a game I’ve already played 3 times/+400 hours. I’m not looking to replay the entire story again anytime soon; but I’ll happily jump in to do the DLC, kill a dozen new mercs, etc... I’m a sucker for ship cosmetics, so any new Alpha ships always get me excited.

I'm wondering if they meant what they said about NG+. It's not coming with the Jan 15 update so are they going to include it with the last ep of the DLC? Which would come when? March?

I'm wondering if they meant what they said about NG+. It's not coming with the Jan 15 update so are they going to include it with the last ep of the DLC? Which would come when? March? The only thing I’ve ever read/heard about NG+ from the devs is that they definitely plan to add it, and have always intended to do so. Origins’ NG+ took a long time. Part of that can be attributed to its development being started post-release. Still, I have no real expectations for NG+ arrival time. I figured that LotFB would be concluded first, at the very least. That would work for me, as I’ve already replayed it enough for now. I felt that NG+ made Origins better in nearly every way, and I expect I’ll mostly feel the same about Odyssey. Odyssey’s gameplay is so much better from the mid-40s onward. Eliminating the slow climb to power is a positive, in my opinion. We’ll get more time with our favorite skills. Plus, we’ll get way more use out of some of those awesome weapons and perks that only arrive very late in the game. (Specifically, the Atlantean Blade; Bow of Paris; arrow penetration legendary perk, etc... If there’s only one Hunter-dagger or Assassin-bow, why do we have to wait 100+ hours to get them?) Leveled foes, areas, etc... in AC will never be something I like.

Well i visited at least eight more blacksmiths yesterday and they all had soft leather and only one had 246 soft leather. The others had way more soft leather from 460 to around the 560 so i also bought them all. Because i also found out that you cannot go over the 10.000.000 drachmae 9.999.999 is the limit and that sucks. So today I visited numerous Blacksmiths and of at least 15 only two di not have soft leather, one guy had 746 so something has definitely changed unless a few of us were experiencing a glitch that has been fixed. I haven't in 250+hrs ever experienced that many blacksmiths having leather. Yesterday i did the same again and so again i visited around 8 different merchants this time and now it was almost the other way around. So out of the 8 now only three had soft leather the highest amount was 670 soft leather that one merchant had. It's weird though they all should have soft leather they are merchants.

I missed the beginning of this discussion because I wasn’t around. Several of you are having a hard time finding leather? I’ve never experienced this. Do you upgrade gear very frequently? I’m pretty conservative, not upgrading much before approaching max level. I’ve always ended my PTs with 60K+ in wood and leather, and 15K+ in the “rare” materials.
I know it’s a small nitpick, but it’s sort of silly that blacksmiths are general merchants. Smiths are named after the materials with which they work. Blacksmiths definitely shouldn’t be selling general goods, working leathers, etc... It doesn’t impact my enjoyment, but it makes me scoff whenever I think of it. Earlier entries in this series did have different types of vendors/NPCs for different things. They’ve also always had things like “phantom blade refills”, poisoned blades, rope darts, etc... for sale in shops. 😆 There are always gameplay conveniences for which we look the other way.

They’ve also always had things like “phantom blade refills”, poisoned blades, rope darts, etc... for sale in shops. 😆 There are always gameplay conveniences for which we look the other way. Three or four of us were complaining how hard it is to find Blacksmiths that sell leather, like 2 out of 10 and that of those that did the quantities were stupidly low like 46 for example. I know you advocate the don't upgrade your gear regularly thing but for me even if I didn't need to its just a compulsion for me to do it. Anyway we were also discussing that it seems ridiculous the amount of leather needed to upgrade gear and @patricia calculated that to upgrade one set from level 66 to 70 would take between 15,000 and 20,000 soft leather, a helmet alone would tack 500. 500 leather is the leather from approximately 10 predatory animals like bears. Why does it take the skin of ten bears to upgrade a helmet? Using the 20,000 to upgrade four levels for a whole set would mean killing 300+ bears or Lions or 1,300+ Ibex. I am all for the reality of hunting for the goods to upgrade gear but the numbers are completely unrealistic and is either designed to bloat game hours but it also makes it into a grind. Anyway I created a post on the Ubi forums and subsequently, coincidentally or via a fix we started to find more leather in more shops but that has become hit or miss for some again. I get what your saying re Blacksmiths aren't general merchants but the are the only merchants in this game and it would seem reasonable that they ALL stock ALL materials necessary and in quantities that mean I you don't have to waste time fast travelling all over the map trying to find it or wasting hours on hunting. That being said I spent my whole 2.5hrs yesterday doing nothing but killing mercenaries, they are surprisingly a good source of crafting materials. I killed on S2 mercenary that I stumbled upon and hence my hunting mercenaries for hours but couldn't find another one. Any ideas on where to find the higher level ones?

I wonder if Lieutenants will be imported as well in NG+. I hope so. I think it makes sense for the nondescript randoms (that is to say not Iola, Roxana, etc...) If lieutenants appear in a future game, I hope they are reimagined. Random, unimportant mercs should not be more mechanically viable than NPCs with stories. Lieutenants should be fewer and more meaningful. They should have a means to level up and improve. It’s ridiculous that Deimos is something like my 19th best option because all of the mercs I’ve recruited have better stats. She was supposedly a “force of nature in human form”. Her lowly, 5-star stats don’t show it. How much cooler would it be for story NPCs like Roxana to actually be viable in play? dazk , I wasn’t suggesting that blacksmiths shouldn’t sell materials. I was saying that it’s humorous that they chose blacksmiths to be merchants at all. I’d have likely designed (an unrealistically stocked) merchant alongside blacksmiths. Either way, it’s not like either is realistic. They’re present as game mechanics, not representations of reality. I’ve never had any issues with materials, but playstyle is no doubt a factor, as I was suggesting. Upgrading from 66 to 70 should only be stupidly expensive if you’re hitting each increment between. I offer two counterpoints to the argument that it’s too expensive. First, the statistical difference between 66 and 70 is negligible. The perks are identical, so we’re looking at a couple hundred armor, tops. At level 70, that’s essentially irrelevant. It’s completely reasonable to not even worry about such an upgrade until you’re swimming in materials. Secondly, we’re talking about uber-high level gear. It’s pretty standard for that to be costly. This stuff is 20 levels higher than the god-tier stuff at 50. I don’t feel like it needs to be cheap. I know playstyle is completely personal and different for every player. I hit 66+ while in Attika, finishing up that region’s initial content. By then, I’ve completed Megaris, Phokis, and Thessalia (Malis and Lokris). I’ve also likely visited one or two islands along the way. That means I’ve nearly maxed my character with the vast bulk of the game still ahead. I have plenty of time to build wealth and hoard materials from that point. Another question: How many items are you guys upgrading? Not only do I only upgrade at 65+, but I also only upgrade items I intend to use extensively. This means that most of my inventory remains at whichever level it was initially collected. It would seem that the game economy rewards judicious, planned gear maintenance but arguably punishes (probably way too strong a word) players who like to exclusively use/frequently upgrade all of their legendaries. I don’t think it would hurt the game to make it a bit more generous. It’s not like being richer is going to make the game any easier for managers like myself. If it makes it more fun for others, that’s generally a good thing. Personally, I think the economy could, or maybe should, be linked to difficulty. I usually play on Hard (Nightmare is too hit-spongey). Many games limit resources on higher difficulties. To again name drop HZD, merchant prices are dramatically higher on Ultra Hard in order to limit an easy exploit. The Last of Us decreases resource availability as a key component of the challenge. If the Odyssey devs consider the economy a true part of the challenge, it might be wise to put a bit more thought into it and tie it to difficulty. That’s probably an idea best suited to a future game, of course, rather than one four months post-launch.

It wouldn't make some who have quests to show up as your Lieutenants, like Odessa wanting to go on her journey when she is already on your ship, so they might just not transfer them.

Well yesterday was both extremly odd and entirely awesome.
I was in a local fort for one of the quests with Neleus. Had cleaned everything out at that point, well more or less, and there was this treassure in a building obviously on the second floor...but no obvious way of getting in there. Circled the building, cimbed on the roof, scoured the inside, finally after a really long time I randomly looked up...and there was a hole in the ceiling. Also finished a quest with the Doctor (Doctor Who?) and Solon and he pointed me in the direction of Thasos, well I kept waiting for the next quest to trigger, a new exclamation point to pop up, nothing...finally checked my journal andI had forgotten...there was a whole nother quest.
So doing that quest led me to the estate of this one guy where Neleus was egged to be at, scouting it revealed...finally!...more cultist guards all in a circle just waiting to be shot. So I equipped explosive arrows, arrows of artemis and fired one in there and a second one just in the direction which, exploded. The explosive arrows don't seem to be that powerful as the internet noted but they do have insane utility if you can get people in a close proximity. They do damage over time, and basically just with those two arrows I was able to clear out the guards AND complete the objective to get the owner of the house out to meet me.
But yeah this is where things got realllllyyy good. Went back to the quarry and found all the athletes dead and the Doctor dying, which really honked me off. With that we got the cure and off to save Neleus, but Nelus's house was on fire and the villagers were under attack when I got there, which REALLY honked me off. By the time I cleared out the guards the villagers pointed me to the ancient stronghold, the same ancient stronghold which I had already cleared out, but by this time I was fairly annoyed.
So again to the Ancient Stronghold and despite my annoyance I did whittle the cultists down a liiiittttlle by the time I engaged. Oh beofre I forget it was funny that when I was sneaking up on the area the cult leader was in the vicinity (who strangely was not the general in question) but by the time I cleared it out he was halfway across the island again. So yeah after sniping my way through the area and finally demonstrating rush assassination for my fiancee I got into like a four on one fight with the remaining cultists, including the elite guy in the area and killed them. Then went into the general's room and put two arrows into his head.
Anyways upon returning to the town I discovered that Mikkos and Neleus survived, Baranabas sent the crew ahead to keep an eye on things because I made the good choice and advocated for him to be nice to Neleus. So yeah, this quest line was just awesome.
Also I switched out my sword again for the Atlantean daggers and man its nice using daggers again. I gave it the forty percent backstab boost from the daggers of Kronus...which I might switch out depending on what I decide to do and if its worth it. Only thing is since I have no boosts to Warrior damage really they are a bit weak so it takes a lot of hacking to get them down, but on the flip side man do they generate AP quickly.
So after finiding the Tomb in the Heiphostos islands since I know there is a tomb in the area, it will FINALLY be back to Naxos to hunt for Minoan treassures.

So, a sneaky mission went wrong and I had to start killing some Athenian soldiers. That, of course, was considered murder and a mercenary came after me. Not the first time, won't be the last. But this was the first time I felt really bad about fighting a mercenary. She had a lynx companion with her, which I had to kill first since it was mauling the shit outta me. Her anguished "No, no, noooooo!" after it died tore my heart out. In the end, turns out she was working with one of the Cult since killing her revealed a new Cultist to me, so I felt slightly less bad. But still.

The little touches with dead NPCs are cool in this game. Animals mourn masters and vice versa. Guards find dead friends and get upset. “You died too young, brother.” “I’ll care for your family.” “I’ll avenge you, my friend.” It’s a nice touch.

I think my favorite ability is the one that hides the bodies of those you assassinate. Makes things so much nicer.
