So my frustration with the Lakonia quest thing came to further frustration last night. I did decide to do the story quest and well...the kids were not nice. Apparnetly I told the story wrong (Is there a right way to read the story) If you stick correctly to the legend, you get thanks for it. But the "incorrect" version, especially with "release the kraken" is way better. The worst part of this quest is that the kids are bored of hearing the same legend over and over, but if you spice it up, everyone, including the kids, ridicule you for it.

So I should stop trying to anticipate things and try to rush things and worry about things and just let them happen... Its a bit of a long story on that but long and the short of it when I get Vahalla I will worry about speedeing through Odyssey then. Don't anticipate, just play and enjoy *grumbles*
But on the subject I have actually been a pretty productive day! Finished wiping out two of the cult branches (the Eyes and the Gods of the Aegean) and did Sokrates's LOTOG mission then started Prodigal Son.
Sokrates's mission is always fun but I think I missed something when getting over the shock of meeting Plato. Talking with the philosophers about the differences on where an idea originates and then who is responsible for it. Actually as a matter of course I love all the philosophical conversations in this game but...more on that in a bit. I don't know all this was basically me trying to remember a connection I made between this conversation and actually something going on IRL but now I completely forget it so moving on...
While I enjoy Sokrates and his company Kass has said, via auto dialogue, that she does not. So while I know I could still chose the positive dialogue response anyways I did say that he annoyed her which was again another hilarious Ubisoft moment because Kass was like 'and he just keeps talking, talking, talking' and on each 'talking the camera zoomed in just a tad emphasising the point, really well done.

And another bug. Doing Chipping Away but the objectives are not showing on the map so I have no idea where to go.
Edit. I've no idea if this is due to my clearing out the map first before starting on the story but I'm going to do the other part of the chapter and see what happens.

So I finished Brother's Seduction in my usual epic style by Devestating Shotting every last one of them. Actually this is a bit of a theme for me because it occurred to me actually playing this game a couple of things about the romances. 1. This is what NPCs must feel like when the player character flirts with them. I mean in BioWare games the romance dialogue is usually better written but usually you have to constantly say flirty things at them or buy them gifts..so kind of yikes. 2. It occurs to me that this is what some women actually must go through. I mean I have heard some stories on this but having every single man and even some woman all go 'the lovely Kassandra' or the 'beautiful mistios'. Kass handles it with a lot of grace and humility and flattery...I suppose to her credit ...but as a player who is trying to play a celibate, professional, job first Mistios, it gets a little taxing having to turn down awkward advance after awkward advance. Though for some bizarre reason I was considering giving Mikkos a good time... Another really bizarre trend with me and this game is...I just keep on making the same mistakes over and over again from PT to PT. Of course I am starting to wonder just how intuitive the quest design is in this game (another trend noticing more problems on future PTs, or could just be annoyed that these thingsare slowing down this PT), but yeah got to the School of Hard Knocks quest line and then...nothing. Its actually another one of my favorite quest lines in the game but I forget (and find a little odd in hindsight) that I had to go to Thasos in order to trigger the rest of the quest line. The weird thing is if Thasos triggered the quest line, including School of Hard Knocks, then why give you the option to do SHKs first and then have to warp on over to Thasos...rather then just letting you start in Thasos. But yeah, the good news I did run into my favorite little side character in the game, the Doctor, yes, yes. Finished off in Lesbos and had the same problem. I guess I stumbled onto this quest by accident pretty much the first time but I am looking for 'the Elixir' as part of the Lesbos quest line because again, good quest, but can't find it. Lets hope I can kill the Medusa first.

Beat the Medusa. She didn't go down as easy as the Minotaur but she did go down on the first time. And I didn't even need the spear to do it. Which yeah that really is not worth going into. Anyways I also found Markos and started doing his stuff last night as well as turned in Besieging Bandits.

I finished my mightmare run with Kassandra. Some helpful tips. Avoid getting up close and personnel when fighting mercs. If they throw a smoke grenade it will be an instant kill regardless of how much health you have. What I do is use my bow. If I do get close, I back off after a couple of hits. Having flamed arrows helps as well. Avoid the brutes who can jump from aa distance at you. Depending on how close they hit you, it could be an instant kill. When dealing with ships, stay at range. Recruit Lt's with arrow damge and ship armor. Brace is your best friend. I decided to do a quick playthrough as Alexios to see/hear the difference. I prefer Kassandra. She sucks as Deimos whereas Alexios is better suited for that role. Alexios make for a better Commander of the ship since he has a more commanding voice when barking out orders Be afraid. BE VERY AFRIAD I started another playthrough as Kassandra A couple of questions. I want to get the Atlantis dlc. Is it worth it? If so, when would the best time be to play it? If it's not worth getting, is the other dlc, the first blade, worth getting?

If it's not worth getting, is the other dlc, the first blade, worth getting? The Fate of Atlantis is definitely worth getting. Legacy of the First Blade can be skipped. Odyssey is such a long game that it feels to me that multiple story arcs get fully developed and resolved. Fate of Atlantis should be played after the rest of the game is completed. It feels like an entirely different chapter in the Eagle Bearer's life; and it was written to be exactly that. The gameplsy is familiar, but even more super-heroic. You get the best gear in the game in FoA. You get new versions of existing abilities that can be toggled on/off, allowing you to use whichever version you like. The three chapters are each fairly heavy on content, and they get better as they progress. I liked the appearance of Elysium. The atmosphere of Hades was a bit oppressive or taxing (go figure), but the stories were awesome. Atlantis was the best of the three, in my opinion, looking great and providing good stories.

You know I was going to say something but I think I realize I pretty much have this reaction EVERY time I do this quest chain. God damn Markos/ this game really asks you and forces you to do some really questionable crap. Well I mean 'forces' you by making you do these things if you want to complete the quest. That poor...whoever's farm. Though it was funny too with Markos's wine if you choose to drink it, it knocks down your health by quite a significant amount. Double points that they freak out and follow you all the way back to the vineyard when you bug out. I basically think I broke or at least did a Captain Picard maneuver and put my foot down. I went to such lengths to not kill anyone when they came after me that I beat them all up and then when the quest did not continue I recruited them all and then dismissed tem on my ship. It was funny getting multiple Cerbersuses. Onto doing the LTOG 'The Show Must Go On'. Maybe the second to last one I did for this playthrough. I do feel both bad but not too bad because I always recruit the actual military guy to do it which leaves the guy with the debt hanging. I mean it is his fault so he 'deserves it' but slavery isn't exactly a 'nice' way to pay off one's debt. But then Kass did get out of doing work so a win for her I guess.

So finished The Show Must Go On. And the bit with Hedone I just have to wonder....how different can it be? I think I did the different thing this time instead of going after bald Hedone at the back of the waterfall I went after stoned Hedone at the front. And I am not sure it did anything or changed anything? Might ave though considering people did like it, but it was always a bit of an interesting conversation 'who is the real Tros'. And still great quest though.
Finished the quest with the Carpenter getting killed.

So last night was a bit of a nasty shock for me. I did Barnabas's LTOG mission and I found out that you can apparently skip entirely the warning about the 'Sirens' because I did not run into the person in there. Kept on thinking I would but that did not happen in the least which was interesting. And I will say I did actually appreciate that the whole scene is a lot more gruesome and bloodchilling without it so there is more of an effect but...alas since I guess there were no *actual* Sirens involved Kassandra didn't get sucked into some mind controlling trance.
And with that pretty much going to be just rush right to the various endings before moving onto doing the DLC. Of course there are a couple of side quests I ma still do. We'll see.

So its amazing what you can do in an hour and its amazing about what you cannot do in an hour.
So off to the Olympics I went and I think this is the first time I did the Olympics quest, getting Testikles, in the middle of the night/ early morning. Which kind of made the funniest cutscene ever a little hard to see but I did like the entire set up this did where it gave the tone of a mid morning father crushing everyone into the back of a stationwagon to go to a vacation to Pensylvania or something. It was a really neat idea basically traveling through nightto reach the Olympics by morning.
Anyways there is also a lot of side quests in the Olympics and a lot more of them that I remember having fun with so...we'll see? Including the one with the gutter runner which I got a good chuckle with how obvious the girl was just creeping on you in the background. And well she failed the Bob Brown test for not mthievery. Also, I found it interesting that Kass is carrying around 1963 Drachmae on her belt...which just is a lot. I was going to say something but realize it is also a bit risque and kind of moot considering that amount of Drachmae still really fit into a really small pouch so...*shrug*.

Aaaah, I so don't miss games that made money have weight/take inventory space. Although it does make some sense. What would you prefer to have constantly when adventuring - five bags of silver or a shiny armor on your back. Which strangely reminds me of the Mandalorian. He doesn't have two credits to rub together and drives the equivalent of a 40 year old Ford, but has the latest state of the art Armani military suit.

Think I am done with Odyssey for now, getting the shiny's from Oikos is something I'd like to do but I'd rather invest the time in Vlahalla rather than doing the quests just ti get cosmetics I probably will never use. Shame, I miss Odysseys pure beauty and yes I am talking about Kassandra and the scenery. I like Eivor and her raspy voice but there will most likely be another Kassandra.

Well now...oh yeah I finished up the Olmpics end of the ain quest. I just....well it was the tour of 'things I hadn't forgotten about the Olympics'. Forgot that you needed three rounds which was a nasty shock because I used all my adrenaline like on the first guy so had to roll around the second, forgot their was an intermission between two and three and that one guy...well the cultist assigned to the whole thing was weird and I thought it was weird how you just stumbled upon it and he was just walking out in the middle of nowhere, that was until I read the note again and realized we knew *who* it was but we did not know the connection until Alkibiades mentioned it.
After that off to Boetia with Stentor and another magnificent cutscene by Ubi in this game. Just laying into Kass like that and the blood and just everything about it, funny and just perfection. And I did everything else in that zone so off to go talk with Stentor again. Is one of the champions the Champion cultist?

Finished Boetia, finished Arkadia, exposed Pausinias, off to Pylos which is in Lakonia and not in Markedonia I guess. . Buuuutt what I wanted to talk about is euthanasia and...well I am trying to make sure that I get my moral ducks in a row and possibly remember exactly what I do because this is a really fun topic to talk about. Now IRL I am typically staunchly against euthanasia or things relating to it. But in video games I do sometimes do the whole 'person is suffering too much thing' and this comes up again in this game with Hipokrates and again always gives me a bit of a pause when I come to it. And I didn't actually give him too much Hemlock. But Hipokrates does make a good point too where he can study this man's symptoms to better help others. Where there is life, there is hope.

What is it with Kassandra and goats? I mean I know I have done this cutscene before and in this way...but what the actual fuck Kassandra? So here she is, getting hit on by Thespis, dealing with a bunch of thugs, trying to get rid of the thugs and well...again I did this before but I did not remember this option would lead to it but 'you smell like a goat pen' sounded rather hilarious even though I was quite sure it would lead to combat. But that is part of the hillarious thing because she is insulting them, comparing them to barn yard animals, driving them off and they actually start to leave...and then she bahs at them. And it is amazing because I do not know if they put in an actual goat sound or if that is Melsanthi doing that but it was so pitch perfect and hillarious. On the more negative side of the equation again getting free from prison, like merc central, I think I killed five of them...and once more I wonder how many mercs are actually in the game. It did lead to a neat combat where I was dueling with two of them at once. I managed to get one of them knocked down by probably 90% plus health early on and then the other one showed up but I was very eager to take out the weak one first and the other one kind of blocked me so I had to get around them to land a couple of arrow shots on them, it was glorious.

So I basically rushed through and finished up the family storyline and killed Kleon. So this was fun. I basically went through killed Kleon and then reloaded it so I could kill him again. Because well I got video of it and well I chose the ruthless one this time and well my wife does not like people drowning so...I redid it just to make sure I would get video of him not doing that, which is honestly the better option and the more satisfying of the two anyways. Only to discover I already had said video. Confronting Alexios at the end is always probably the highlight of this game. Honestly this ending is probably one of the best endings in history. Anyways though I do like it since I have Kass wearing Darius's Persian Assassin garb and it just looks kind of ratty and, aside from the gold on the 'arm guard' not that ostentatious. And meanwhile Alexios/ Deimos is decked out in veyr bold rich looking whites and golds. I really like the two contratsts and hell maybe a little bit of yin and yang that represents between the two characters. Anyways it is a bit of an unfortunate thing that happens to me with games that I do not tend to enjoy them as much on repeat playthroughs and actually begin to notice more flaws....well actually there are exceptions to this rule *cough Breakpoint cough* ... but yeah there is more then one reason for this I think, and it has actually knocked games down entire tiers before. But this game is still great. Definitley among the best of the generation for me and this is the reason why. Actually I think this is something I have been aluding to. It has heart. It has emotion. It has a lot of BioWare in it. So yeah tonight I go after daddy.

So I did not actually get to meet daddy yet. . I was too tired to actually do too much and to deal with the juicy philosophical bits...or God forbid the stupid riddle from the Sphinkx. Though I am rather proud of myself that I was able to figure out the beam light puzzle while tired without help. That is one thing I am really looking forward to with the PS 5 is te whole help tutorial stuff that you can do with them.
