The rather sad ending with Pythagoras and Atlantis is out of the way. It was actually interesting playing as Layla. She is actually a very nice character just the right amounts of sarcasm and the voice actress did a great job with those lines. I think it strikes me because it is such a weird disconnect between now and what happens at the end of Atlantis...almost like she was corrupted...but then it should've been more gradual. IDK its just I guess I am indicating a bit jarring actually liking playing the character and being her for awhile given the last memory of her in the game is just so...dirty. Its also kind of curious that Kassandra was pretty much the only one of the three known 'staff wielders' to not be corrupted...wonder if that has something with her being in possession of the Spear of Leonidas since Childhood. Though then again I realized too that Kassandra hasn't always been a straight moral shooter...thank you limited Role Playing . Also I thought it of particular note that Kassandra mentioned 'when you are done destroy it, destroy them all.' Clear reference to the staff and all Isu tech but intriguing to keep in mind given what seems to be happening in Vahalla and all the implications for that game...and again the whole 'she was not corrupted' thing.

I love big boats I cannot lie. Do you love big boats too? Can you deny that there is a big boat in this picture? Remember to drink 8 cups of water everyday. Stay thirsty my friends.

Stay thirsty my friends. ...how did you get her to pose...GOOD GOD that final picture. *ahem* So I did the final mission of the main story as I killed Aspasia with a divine and righteous wrath. Now she says the pyramid shows her things too, so is she a part of the blood line? And with that I am doing episode one of Legacy of the Forced Baby. This will be the only one that I will do before moving on, but this one of anything else will be worth doing. I'll just pretend they never saw each other again...anywhoo I reaffirmed that eating while playing video games, even with an auto pilot is not the best solution. So apparently somehow I agrroed a squad of guards. And I was quite confident I would be able to drive past them so with a confident snort I continued on with my apple in hand. But then my horse stopped and I was still quite confident they had been left in the dirt but as I turned around I saw them racing after mine. So 'oh crap!' I went and I dropped the apple on the computer next to me and well picked it up and proceeded to fight it with one apple in hand and the controls in the other. A battlecry of Ares killed the initial group but more showed up. So had to basically fight with one hand tied behind my back but I was able to win...with an devestating shot. Also though when assassining one of the Order in the one city it tripped up a whole lot of civilians, I do wonder if they made it easier to get into fights with Civies in this given that *one quest*. I killed off 4 of the Order as well too....

So I finished up episode 1 of Legacy. Now off to find the symbols which the first one in the Agamnenon tomb I hope is the only one that gives me issues.

I know I have commented on this before but man is it kind of interesting that the game suggests that Victoria could be a traitor...twice actually now that I am thinking about it! But then it also pointed to Hiyroshi being the same thing at the time but just given the ending it was a bit of a weird little tidbit.
I also got to starting Atlantis Episode 1. Its actually kind of...typical for me with all the hand wringing I had about finishing this game too early for Vahalla...well its now going to be a footrace for me to actually get Vahalla because I am getting it next week and I still ave all the DLC to do. Also trying to dust off the cobwebs of what content is optional and what is not so I can kind of bull rush things a bit.

So we are in the endgame now. It is actually quite typical of me despite my earlier hand wringing about finishing Odyssey too early I am right against the wall rushing to finish it up now in a way and trying to figure out the optimum way to finish everything up.
Started Atlantis and am running around and met everyone else. Forgot how long and annoying that first little fort that you have to clear out for Adonis. I do forget if I actually have to weaken persephone's control over all the areas to advance to the next one so could appreciate the help with that...
Also it was amusing because here I am trying to get through everything quickly and the Hermes quest the first one with all the mountains was just annoying because I kept falling off it and had to climb up and back over...repeatedly...and since all the climbing in general gets on my nerves this led to this funny exchange.
: The verticality of this quest drives me up the wall...*turns to Wife who may not have heard me* You heard me honey the VERTICAITY of this quest DRIVES ME UP THE WALL.
*she facepalms*

In AC origins there are idle animations that only occur when Bayek is prone but sadly those seem to be missing in odyssey.

So getting up to more shannaghans in Elysium. Trying to piss off the gods as much as possible by not doing what they want. Getting false body guards close to Persephone, not having certain people drink the water, etc...also getting all the KIs. And trying to studiously NOT flirt with Adonis. I mean despite Kass being celibate some of those lines are just so titillating and sarcastic but I know what happens to him and I do not want to risk it especially not for a full romance. It'd be funny though that Kass basically outdoes a god...maybe that is what pissed Persephone off os badly. Also that one quest...the one where Hermes sends you after the rebels because they stole the flame. But their not rebels. As much as I do like this game there is still a lot of weird little hiccups like that. It would be more interesting if they worked it into the plot. But I did clear out the zone first time, though I was seen...even the fires were lit. But I did kill the overseer and there was one moment of panic but I was able to deal with it.

So finished Elysium. Actually last night was the day of me realizing a whole lot of stuff I don't think I've realized before. Lets see if I can remember them all now. I suppose it started when I was watching the Living Daylights and realized that the Bond Girl in that movie was named 'Kara' so I suppose I was already primed for revelations. So for the first time in three playthrougs I realized: What people dying in Elysium actually does to them. They go even lower according to Persephone...to Tartaros. After three PTs I always forget that what's his face is still related to me, the guy who was the spy in Peresephone's camp. And it is always funny that after having the plan suggested to you, you cannot then decide to kill Leonidas anyways. I tried actually. And for the first time I did the Beacons are lit without going to the net once and I did it without being seen. I just adopted an 'I don't care' attitude...and I made it anyways. I was actually curious to see what would happen if I did get spotted. Didn't happen. . Then it was funny when I heard the name 'Akonite' well I put a k in it because of how many times they put in K instead of C...and it ends up being Aconite. So after fighting through Persephone's forces and fighting Hermes, then getting him dropped from the mountain...it was off to Hades. Had to fight Cerberos twice and first time I went to WW armor and second time I started in my assassin gear then switched mid way. Met Elpenor. Met Hades.

Did the Brasidas quest line, got lost in the crypts with the babies and I needed the internet for it. Also in the interest of speed running I looked up the solution to the quest with his shield. And I did not get Brasidas into Elysium.

Seems Hades is becoming more and more of a slog as I try and get through it. which is ok though kind of because my estimated time to get Vahalla keeps getting pushed back more and more as well. So going through Phoibe's quest line in Odyssey and facing all of the Cyclop's men. And as a fun side benefit I popped into and killed Herakles...well no Agamenon...and by kill I mean beat to a bloody pulp until he was willing to go protect the gate...the weird thing is I am like 95% sure now that they updated the game where you do not need the fancy Hades armor to get through the barriers you can get through it willy nilly now, though you still also need it for the rifts. Well need might be a bit strong but it does come in helpfully. Speaking of the rifts I am actually about to max out my damage to elites and bosses over in the Assassin mastery line.

Figures after complaining about Hades being a slog it goes a lot faster. Did four things last night. Finished Phoibe's stuff, dealt with Elpenor, then dealt with two more of the fallen legend people that Hades needs. My wife did make a rather astute observation about Hades and Poseidon and who gets the win on the bet. Seems Poseidon is the more moralist of the two because when Hades gives him money its during moral outcomes, and does not give money and even looked disappointed on less then one...like me pushing Elpenor down into Tartoros...which makes me feel a bit guilty about doing it but then I had my reasons. . And those reasons too were I actually failed and got him quite annoyed at me which I was quite annoyed at him because the Monger escaped...briefly. First time that happened and it was because of something quite funny and annoying which happened...and I rushed right through the other layer of the temple of nyx ignoring the ghost warriors...and then I got into a fight with them in the boarder...which got their attention and well I figured I had to fight them. Now wonder if I *had* to but seemed necessary at the time.

Finished Hades and onto Atlantis. Kind of interesting a little bit that Hades was beaten to a pulp looking in the end of the fight episode 2 but looked a lot more pristine beginning of episode 3. Also then got sucked into Tartoros via the rift...at least I am assuming that is what happened...how Corypheus of him. Actually come to think of it it is a little weird too that he would get sucked into Tartoros. He's the king of the underworld so shouldn't he have more control of that? If he really is out of the picture then who is running things now?
Also had loads of trouble in the opening area for Atlantis.

So found my old saves, so I can play the Atlantis dlc! ...I can play the Atlantis dlc. So finally got around to finish the third bit of the Fate of Atlantis. And am left with a big old "Well then." So that's fun. Recap in spoilers, with spoilers but zero sense. Aww yiss. Load up the game, find my latest save and find Alexios in Atlantis standing over a body. Walk down the hallway and find even more dead people. Somebody had fun back in 2019 that's for sure.
So decide to go exploring. Enter one of those illegal temples and manage to alert a guard and take him down. Then try to be clever and sneak kill some more guards. Whistle in the bushes and lure in three. At the same time. Stealth kill one, then get brutally murdered by the next as I realize I don't remember the dodge button. So load the save again and decide to not go there.
Go and find some doctor dude who wants me to break in somewhere and steal something. Except I'd already done it last time I played, so I could just turn in the quest right away. Yay for break ins and kleptomania I guess.
So the item is a cloth and we're going to heal some sick people. So the doctor puts the cloth over somebody and turns it on and we cure them. CURE THEM FROM THE SICKNESS OF LIFE! Since the person explodes under the cloth. Very gory. Let's do it again!
Alas, no more explosions and the cloth has been calibrated for healing. Which is grand but supposedly should piss off Poseidon. Well, sucks to be him.
Onto the next task. Which is helping a fellow who greets us by slitting the throat of the last person he talked to and dumping them in the river. Which is how the plague starts asshat... But alas, he has some sob story and we move to other matters.
Which is crushing down a rebellion. By either killing the lot or burning their supplies.
Since I'm a weak little baby I chose arson and spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out how to switch arrows. Got murdered in that bit as well so yay. Also remembered why I quit playing but that's another reason.
So commit some friendly arson in the neighborhood and report to the throat slitter who gives us lip, which we return ten fold. Or well just whine a bit and move to the next task.
Which is finding out that Atlas has gathered all the blokes we helped and is planning to execute them. Since he wants Atlantis to turn into Atlasantis and not Alexiosantis. Cool.
Manage to convince him not to kill his brothers. Not sure why, I wasn't particularly fond of them, but I'm fond of being a nuisance and this was a great display of that.
Next task is tracking down some metals for some lady. Think I was supposed to be stealthy, but, like, murder. Look they saw me killing one of the guards, got a bit huffy, we had a tussle and now the mines are red. Okay. Could've happened to anybody!
So give her the metal so she can craft a weapon of mass destruction or what ever she's planning with it. Alexios got some temples to raid so he can't worry about it at the moment.
So end up having to raid the temples I died in at the start of the session. Long story short I flicked the game to easy mode and joined the pro-god mode movement.
After that little side trip we went back to the lady who wanted us to distract Atlas while she did something in his room. Wanted to say no leave me out of this, but alas "Thou must". So the moment I could tell on her I did and she got wrecked for her sins.
Then I got kicked out of Atlas crib because "I made him kill his girlfriend". Nah bro, that was all you. But decided to skeddaddle anyways.
Next up monologue time! It was funny and set up the next mission of finding some kids parents. Which I was like 100% positive would turn out to be my doing so had a little moral moment.
But alas, it was someone else. Had to look for them on the harbor (funny) and the quarry (not funny). So the quest person on the harbor got spared and the quarry got killed. This aint no serious business.
Then get the task to kill some bloke for some reason. He did something. Slide into his quarters and fight him to the death. Since mercy is not an option. Like literally, the game made me do it. Either way, murder is done, time to raid a secret lab.
The lab was pretty cool. Didn't understand it but it had specimens in tanks and suprised looks from Alexios so I was entertained. Then met the curator and got to throw a temper tantrum at a stinking door. So took the option to say "Screw your door", because screw that door. And morals and stuff too I guess. Mainly Outrage!
Continued my temper tantrum to Poseidon and got booted off to fight the final boss of the chapter. Thank Zeus for easy mode since I got horrid flashbacks to the Minotaur fight.
Well with that done I demand the owner of the stinky door gets hanged and Poseidon hears it as nuke the city. Like...Which I was kinda wanting to do but I actually wasn't serious and what the heck is wrong with you people?
Either way, horrible city is gone, Poseidon is dead, we accomplished nothing and that's it for Alexios path. Get a little dialog in the end and then it's Layla time. Whooo!
And just what. So Vic is lying there like a sack of rocks as we banter with Mr Berg. Then there is a fighting scene which is just spamming the attack button because I still don't know how to dodge proper.
Then we don't kill him, but paralyze him from the waist down. Which will probably kill him because he's just lying there, bleeding, in the dirty water. But well better let 'em die slow I guess.
Finally we adress Vic who has moved to a sitting position by the stairs. Which I will note neither Layla or Berg moved her into. So I hope she's alive, got a small pistol and takes her spot as the next games protag. Because Layla's gone of the rails! She's evil! And stupid, since she just goes "Eh, Imma go back into the Animus, laters!" and goes back to the Animus, leaving the super soldier and magic staff all alone and unattended.
Cool story brah.

Well done on finishing. The answer of course to all your combat prayers is Rush Assassination with engravings to be able to chain 5 kills. Do the normal sneaky thing then unleash RA. With enough CRIT points you can kill just about anything.

Like a sneak attack did down like most foes, but you can't exactly use it if you just spring out of the grass in front of them. Had two times where I was certain just ducking into the grass would fool them. Shock on my face when it didn't work. But rush assassination did come in handy at times. Lot's of doing a Rush Assassination, then running off screaming until they couldn't see me, rinse and repeat. So brave. So heroic.

Sounds like you need RA and Heroic Strike, HS was my get out of jail card when RA didn't chain them all I assassinated someone and then got spotted. If more than one other enemy then Ring of Chaos is great as it downs or kills multiple enemies. Tha being said run away is a valid strategy and never to be ignored!!!!!

So finally getting ready to get this game finished after taking a couple weeks off...yikes almost a whole month really. Did the quest where you realign the beams and then looked into Altos's parents...and then hit that level 3 door again so now I have to go back and finish all the other level stuff.
So this game is actually a blast going back to after playing Vahalla because I do not think Vahalla has quite the same spirit as Odyssey yet. I am not as into it and as immersed...but then I think I was having a lot of the same issues my first twenty hours in Odyssey so *shrug*. And namely once again Melsanthi just nails it as Kass...and I am really liking Eivor. But the interesting bit was the combat is really telling. There are some things that this game does really well and I miss from it...and some things I do not. I did die a couple of times though full disclosure I was not fully...awake yet. But again this game really makes you very OP and like a greek god and Vahalla doesen't. And it occurs to me that this really might be an intentional design decision coherent with the story and the tone of the games. Because the gods were everywhere in Odyssey and Kassandra made reference to perhaps being one out of arrogance and by blood. That has not shown up yet, other than....well no that is technically a Vahalla spoiler. But there are things there but Odyssey Kassandra you are playing a demi God. Eivor you are just playing a raider. I wonder how much of this is in relation to any blow back Odyssey had for this and how much of this is actually an intentional story beat because it does mess with the tone of the game.

I agree there is just something like "the spirit" of Odyssey that is missing in Vallhalla and I do really miss the combat of Odyssey but that said I think Valhalla's story is better.

colfoley, the only thing I like better about Valhalla is the effort to make side content less repetitive. I always hated that I had to senselessly kill soldiers in camps across Egypt/Greece just to "complete" a region. Why? I think Odyssey is a better game in most ways that really matter. Origins before it was better than Odyssey in many ways, but lacked the post-launch support that really polished Odyssey's experience. The Valhalla team recently said that Odyssey was made great by actively listening to players and taking action to add requested features. They say they plan to do the same with Valhalla. Maybe I'll like it better with transmog, NG+, bug fixes, and much improved load times in cases where there shouldn't be any load time (before NPC interactions, for example). At present, Odyssey definitely provides me the far superior experience.

The 'romance' plotlines in this game are quite bizarre. You romance them and then collect them as crew, like trophies lmao.
That aside, I was wrong about this game. It is a great game. It surprises me that a Ubisoft game is actually much better than the last few Bioware games at writing interesting side quests/non major characters.
