Presently at level 17. I've over 10k a couple of times and spent some on the ship and some on armor and equipment. Also doing the msg board requests for money. When the option comes up for bandit or beast hunt, I always choose bandits. I'm mostly roaming all over the second zone; Fyskios? (sp) I flunked at one SQ though; defending the philosopher from Hades fellowers. The mission is ridiculous. The minute you say yes, three turkey Hades fellowers rushed straight into the small camp, attacking immediately. At one point I got stuck on the stupid tent and couldn't get off it until I hit jump so I wasted two power attacks. It also didn't help the NPC got into the melee as well. I tried it twice and then gave it up as a badly scripted mission.

Alas, I didn't play as much as I wished today. I did finish up Attica. I spent some time hunting the Eyes of Kosmos, and that cell is now nearly exterminated. I’ve decided to head the Korinth and the surrounding country. I have business and lots of exploration awaiting.
Sokrates is an interesting dude. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but he’s not it. It’s not good or bad, just different. I don’t like how they’ve introduced and developed Herodotus. Respectively, these could be described as insufficently and not-at-all. Why is this dude with me? Why do I trust him? Why do we pretend we know him? Very weak NPC. He’s also annoyingly situated very close to my command-position aboard Adrestia. I have to always be careful to “take command” rather than “talk”, triggering a generic line from Herodotus. I hope he gets some development, because it’s a glaring weakness and general annoyance thus far.
I got the “Infamous” trophy earlier for triggering a “5-Star” bounty status. I got swarmed by 5 mercs while also fighting a Spartan fortress. Eventually, I got killed by an indeterminate assailant. Someone AoE’d me right as I took a shot from a merc archer. I managed to kill two of the mercs and most of the Spartans before getting dropped. It earned me a milestone of some sort (“I’m a Survivor”, I think). I had been revisiting the fort for a side quest, so I took a second crack at it upon reloading. I ended up killing three mercs without involving most of the Spartans. Then, I killed the Spartans. Two over-leveled mercs arrived looking for me and I left. They’d have murdered me. One of them is the bearer of a legendary flaming mace. I want that weapon badly, since it will unlock the flaming weapon legendary engraving. With that in pocket, I could create a flaming dagger or sword. She’s still a bit too strong at present, but I’m almost ready to go after her. I just reached level 43, while she is Level 46.
I probably won’t get to play anymore tonight, but I’m eager to explore Korinthia. I also need to report back to the Blind King regarding visited landmarks, and I’ll be near his neighborhood at some point during tomorrow’s adventures. I’m also closing in on the requisites for upgrading the spear to level 5. I’m tempted to focus on that so that I can remove the last of the skill caps. I want to start arranging my “permanent” build. It’s a shame that we can’t eventually learn all skills as we did in Origins. It feels like a waste. It’s annoying to have to respec in order to try different builds. We can’t even continue earning XP after hitting level 50. Lame!

I just got the Hull, Yeah quest. It's to learn how to upgrade the hull. I was already at level 5 before this quest came up. So I went around and destroyed a few pirate ships for resources and supplies. Anyways. It appears to be bugged. Here's a post from a Ubisoft support staff member

I saw in the mercenary menu that there is a L49 female merc. Hathor the Translucent, I want her helmet/circlet so bad for Kassandra and I only have 37 levels to go. Think its the helm of Perseus or something like that.

dazk , I discovered her in the same town at very low levels. Soon I’ll be able to get that circlet, though I won’t use it for Alexios. Is it bad that I routinely murder non-aggressive, sometimes friendly fellow mercs? I act like a character from Highlander. “ There can be only one.” I do try to subdue and recruit the legendary tier mercs for my crew. That’s not working well of late. I think I might try beating their asses to near death, hiding, and then sneaking up to subdue and recruit. They may just drink a health potion, though, as they do at times in combat. That begs the question, if health potions exist, why can’t I use them?

The health thing is an ability that Kassandra can use but not sure if is dependant on the spear why others can heal but I have noticed that too. just took down another Merc and did the Snakes in the grass mission in Phokis, got some good gear.

Yeah, I know we can use the spear. If I could chug health potions, though, that would free up a skill slot! 😉 I actually like the potion animation. It makes me laugh while feeling entirely at home in a video game. The healing skill... I’ll never memorize the names of these skills... is insane. The amount of health it heals for one adrenaline bar becomes impressive. Add to that the crazy number of bars at higher levels, and it becomes a no-brainer. I haven’t counted, but it looks like Alexios has about 8 adrenaline bars at level 43/spear 4. I can assassinate, Wrath of Ares, overpower, overpower, annihilating pretty much anything. I’ve played so much Odyssey that I find myself dreaming about playing it; and I’m still nowhere near finishing. I bet I’m not 50% through it.

Made it to level 17 last night. Level 16 is where combat suddenly got a lot more difficult (playing on normal) and I was getting really bogged down trying to kill the "Snake Dealer" outside of Athens. He has very potent adrenaline and loads of red glow attacks. I finally realized-fire. Fire is your friend. I'll say no more.
Loving it so far and it feels very much like UBI played lots of Dragon Age Inquisition and Witcher 3 and mashed those two games together to get this. Nice use of study hall time!

I've made some progress last night, I should be around 30 hours of playtime now and I think I was at lvl 25 just as I syncronized with korithia (and omg the place looks beautiful when you do that). I haven't done jack squat in the area besides talk to npcs to at least have the quests, so when I get home I can just get straight to it. I'm surprised there wasn't that much to do in Athens, I was expecting more since it's a nation capital. Hopefully we get to return to see what happens with the Spartans outside their walls.
I also got fucked up yesterday when I got 5 mercenaries on me, the issue wasn't even numbers, the last two guys that cane in were pretty much 5 lvls bigger than me while the rest were more or less my lvl or 1-2 above me. It's hard to fight a 30 Merc when they nearly instant kill you and take such little damage, I wasn't on a mountain this time either so I couldn't Spartan kick them off 😢. My best bet was to let them hurt each other by throwing their poison/fire bombs, but that takes so long.
Also I met the admiral Xenia and I was kind of disappointed in that, it's nothing more than paying her back for killing all her men and then she'll give you information on mater. I ended up paying 17,000 in dracmea, I wonder if that's scripted or if I actually killed enough soldiers on that island to get that, it's a good thing I have over 100k but Jesus, that's the most money I've lost so far.
I've also come to the conclusion you can't sell/dismantle gold gear, I guess it just sits there (taking up space) for whatever you decide to upgrade it if you upgrade it.

I've also come to the conclusion you can't sell/dismantle gold gear, I guess it just sits there (taking up space) for whatever you decide to upgrade it if you upgrade it. I thought Athens had a lot of quests. Did you do all of the quests for hunting the Eyes of Kosmos? I also do the quest boards, so that added to my quest load. I paid her 15K. It didn’t occur to me that it might change based upon body count. I wonder if my wife’s background chatter caused me to miss details in that conversation. I like Xenia. She’s a surprisingly likable NPC. I’d already thoroughly explored those islands, so there wasn’t much left to do, but I got about an hour of additional quests out of my second visit. I got new colors, though their coolness is diminished in knowing that they’re the colors of Keos. I want my own cool colors. I really appreciate that Legendaries can’t be sold. That way no accidents happen. Legendaries are the only gear that I permanently keep. Everything else eventually gets sold or deconstructed. I have multiple partial gear sets and one set that will be completed the next time I play. The best looking one, in my opinion, is the Armor of Achilles/Amazons. It looks good on Alexios and awesome on Kassandra. The pieces are dramatically different for each sibling, which is cool. For instance, Alexios gets that iconic helmet that we associate with Achilles. Kassandra gets a circlet. I can’t wait to encounter more of those quests (Daughters of Artemis hunts). Both the hunts and rewards are great.EDIT: These armor sets are not distinct versions of the same thing, but rather different sets altogether. The Daughters grant the Amazon armor set, while one of the branches of the Cult grant the Achilles armor set. The info I'd heard and shared earlier was incorrect. Both look awesome. Now I'm curious to see what Amazon Armor would look like for a dude.

I just finished a quest where Kassandra was wearing regular clothing at a party. She ended up singing a song with 2 guys.
I'm at level 24 after playing for about 40 hours. I'm sure if I didn't take the time to recruit, instead of killing characters, I might be farther in the story.

I've played a fair amount today. I followed a trail of clues to Korinth. What a beautiful city that was. I have completed Korinth 100%, cleaned up my quest log across Greece, and now am venturing into Argos. I want to kill the cultists and mythical beasts in Argos. After Argos, I'll resume my search, picking up the trail in the next region.
I'm finally enjoying the naval combat well enough. The controls are still shitty, and the options are pitiful, but it is still a nice means of transit. It's fun bisecting enemy ships, too. I've killed countless mercenaries who've taken to the seas to pursue bounties on Alexios.
I believe regions may revert back to their historical allegiance if left alone for a while. I left an area ages ago under strong Spartan authority. When I finally returned, Athens again held sway. I'd done nothing to weaken Sparta, so it played out entirely on its own with Alexios across the sea. I'll keep an eye on that to see if it holds true.
I delivered a dick in a box, today. Freaking hilarious! I had to pause the scene midway to laugh. The NPC involved is funny as hell. I don't know if or how he'll top that request.

BioWare games are abnormalities in that we generally cannot. dazk, this NPC is very funny. I bet you'll suspect he's the one upon first meeting him. I hope to see more of him, as I'm close to leaving this part of the world. I hope he travels! I have some crazy good gear, now. I finally encountered and killed Big Smoldering Bertha (definitely not her name, but the flavor is right). I promptly engraved her mace's fire damage onto the Prometheus Sika. This sword had heavy fire buffs by default, and now does fire damage. It's not nearly as easy to self-immolate as it was in Origins, so using it has been a blast. I've heard foes yelling, "Oh, F&$@! I'm on fire!" on more than a few occasions. I also have the Bow of Hades, which fires flaming arrows and buffs fire damage. Lots of flames and flame-synergy happening. I still like daggers best, so we'll see what I'm able to find as time passes. I'm making progress on the critical path, but keep wanting to deviate to hunt down the Cultists and find legendary animals. I want the spear at level 5 ASAP, and that means bagging more Cultists. Before saving, I improved two more of Adrestia's traits to legendary. I'm eager to see how she looks with all that Legendary going on. I'm hoping for cosmetic changes, as with Jackdaw and Morrigan.

Aye. A very annoying abnormality. So in your considered and expert opinion is it better to go for poison weapons or fire weapons? Considering I usually love doing fire stuff in my RPGs (DA I usuallyenchant it with fire attacks and MET my Shepard ran entirely with incendinary ammo) Also, this just occured to me: I have heard you can equip your bows with 'special arrows' what examples are there of them? Are they abilities? Or crafting resources? (Again I wouldn't mind this feature being incorporated into DA 4, assuming DA 4 has a crafting system similar to Inquisition I want the ability to craft arrows as an upgrade like the grip).

I can't wait to meet the NPC, I knew as soon as I met the granny at the temple of Apollo that was who you had commented on before as well. I am excited to be going away with my mates for 10 days to play baseball but I am so disappointed at having to stop playing. I was really feeling the last couple of days that I was getting comfortable with combat and also getting into the start of the main story. I have the Legendary sword from Nikalaos, the legendary Bow from Daphne and The Daughters of Artemis, Legendary Braces of Theseus and a legendary breast plate yesterday from Elpenone (SP?) but need to upgrade it. Its kind of frustrating to have to wait to get to Level 49 to finish The Daughter of Artemis stuff and also that you have to get to near that to take down the top Mercenaries. Trying to finish off Snakes in The Grass I was getting trolled by a Level 24 Merc who just would not leave the area near the Snake Cave. Eventually Fast Travelled somewhere else and then went back and they had finally left. I have done little to the ship except 1 upgrade to the hull, Javelins and Spears plus add the fire option.

Not only does Kassandra shove people out of the way, when running, but the little kid, Arsenio, shoves folks out of the way as well. I had to laugh at that. Take his tour on Minotaur Hills on Pephka.

I ran three more quests for my favorite NPC tonight, and I believe our business is finally concluded. I won't spoil the nature of any more of them, but will say that each one was great fun, start to finish. He's one of the funniest NPCs I've ever interacted with in any game. I killed the Nemean Lion, adding its skin to the boar and stag. That was enough to bed Wonder Woman and gain another Legendary item. I cleaned up some lingering side quests and saved in central Argos. I have more cool stuff on tomorrow's agenda, as I go after the leader of a Cult cell. He'll be the first high-ranking leader that I've slain. I carefully followed all of the clues to his subordinates and then to him. I like the Cult mechanics. It's a fun side story that will no doubt move front and center later in the game. I can't recall who it was that felt that Athens lacked quests. It's loaded with side-story quests, the kind with important NPCs and lasting impact. They continue to pop up as you complete earlier quests and objectives. One more general thought: I feel like I've probably made three or four important decisions in the course of the journey. The first I'd say was the plague family in Kephallonia. That could've gotten bad. The others I won't spoil, even in blocks, because they're simply too important. I feel like I've had three significant decision points (excluding the plague family), and I look forward to seeing how things resolve. I have a very particular outcome in mind for this game. I have no idea if it's achievable, but so far so good. I'll likely play differently with Kassandra, aiming for a different end game. dazk , I hope you have a good, safe trip. I'm sure you'll have fun and appreciate the time away. The game (and BSN!) will still be waiting when you return home. Maybe I'll be in my second/Kassandra PT by then. I'd recommend not wasting resources on frequent upgrades. You'll find good gear continuously of all types. Unless you really live a particular weapon, I'd recommend rolling with the stuff you find until high levels. You'll have far more drachmae and resources for Adrestia and level 50 Legendary upgrades if you save them specifically for those goals. I got that circlet you were admiring. I wanted to take down Leto the Translucent non-lethally, but she was freaking dangerous. She kept setting me ablaze, so I had to quit messing about and kill her. I'm level 48, so I can't wear the circlet until I gain one more level. Interestingly, the Heroes of Greece set seems to be leveling with me. Glitch? Maybe, but I'll take it! Once I can don the circlet, I'll get the trophy for wearing a full Legendary set. I have 33% of the trophies, so a ton of game yet lies ahead. colfoley , I'd say that fire is more powerful. Poison is good, but not as good as it was in Origins. In Origins, poison could spread. Sadly, it doesn't in Odyssey. (It also lost its cool black color and turned vivid green.) Conversely, fire is improved over Origins. It's deadly in both games, and spreads readily. In a Odyssey, though, you don't have yo be in constant fear of burning to death. (It was a real problem in Origins on Nightmare difficulty.) In Odyssey, dousing flames is as easy as an extended roll, and you don't catch on fire as easily in the first place. Fire does a ton of damage, causes panic, and spreads. Poison causes intoxication (almost a stun) and foes damage. I think fire is better. It also looks badass, while poison is just a silly green cloud around your weapon. Arrows are crafted. You level a skill called Arrow Master that allows you to craft different types. I think there are 7 types, but I'm only remembering the following 5 off the top of my head: Normal, Non-lethal, Poison, Fire, Death. The first four are pretty obvious. The Death arrows seem to do a ton of damage, particularly if you score a crit/headshot. As of today's patch, you can craft 60 Normal and 30 each of the specialty arrows. That's one giant quiver. Archery takes a lot of investment in time and skills to bring online, but it's very powerful once you arrive. I've been using it more of late, since it's finally doing the job. Those non-lethal arrows landed me all of my Legendary Mercenary Lieutenants (and the Argonauts trophy).

Interesting that normal arrows also need to be crafted that's...annoying a bit but I guess not at all unsurprising, I just hope they have a lot of the material in the world because I'll likely be using it lol.

colfoley , wood and iron are more than abundant. They're everywhere you look in nature. You also get them when you raid military supplies, deconstruct gear, etc... I've never once run out, despite their being required for pretty much everything you'll ever craft or upgrade. I got low on wood after several simultaneous ship upgrades, so I made a point to collect any I saw. I soon had thousands of units again. One of the skills, Archery Master I think, makes it so your special Bow attacks don't expend arrows. This is useful, since some of them fire multiple arrows. It's also cool to snipe someone with a death arrow and Devastating Shot without even expending an arrow. There's also the fact that we can generally recover normal arrows from corpses. You won't have issues with keeping your quiver stocked. I used the Ghost Arrow of Artemis skill for the first time tonight. I cleared a camp of a huge number of foes, along with a big ass bear, and they had no idea from where the attacks were coming. I was above and behind a rock outcropping, firing through it. It was pretty fun. I was iffy on this skill during previews, but it makes much more sense once I put it into the context of the game. Our protagonist is not a normal person and wields a Piece of Eden. The spear is responsible for nearly all of the crazy stuff we can do.

I delivered a dick in a box, today. Freaking hilarious! I had to pause the scene midway to laugh. The NPC involved is funny as hell. I don't know if or how he'll top that request. Well I certainly can't wait for that quest!!!!! That bloody Alkibiades. He travels quite alot. I had to RP Kassandra getting increasingly annoyed with his quests. Even received a dialogue option with him that was stating simply "Malaka!". At a certain main quest he pops up again and Kas took her time leaving his task for last. Just so he suffers a bit longer.
