So do you reckon we'll get a second screen experience? Just think how successful those Pip-Boys were for Bethesda. And even if there won't be, surely a selection of complementary apps or mini-games?

I honestly don't think so. I think Nintendo screwed up when they introduced the PS Vida (I think). In terms of the pip boys, meh. They were crap in a box, as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't be adverse to a little time-wasting mini-game to amuse me in the lead up to release, like Fallout Shelter or to a lesser extent that text-based RP game they packaged with the Keep for Inquisition, but I'm old and curmudgeonly and don't really love companion apps. When I'm playing a game, I want to be all in, not dicking around with some side thing on my phone or tablet. I suppose I could be convinced otherwise, but it would depend what it was and how well/poorly integrated it was, etc.

If it's something like Fallout Shelter, which was not connected to the main game, then sure why not. If it's something that I need to play to access certain features in the main game then HELL NO!

I would be very surprised if there wasn't something.
A separate mobile game (as DA has one) would be my guess. And possibly a Failbetter-style game during the run-up to release to fill in some of the gaps between the old and new ME. Second screen experience? They could, I guess... I have no idea if they would though.

I'm not sure how viable a second-screen experience would be to ME or really any of the BioWare franchises at this point. I can see how it worked with Fallout with the Pip-boy… it's the Pip-boy. A Fallout game without a Pip-boy would be… like a DA game without a dragon. It's just not meant to be.
About secondary games… Well, if they do a cool promo game that's tied with advertising and what-not, that's fine. I don't want it tied to the main game though. That whole galaxy map app just drove me bonkers, when it worked, and coupling with the MP limitation, just drove me up the wall. I'm happy they patched that up ASAP.

Something like the Pip-boy thing, not sure. Kind of doubtful? I've actually never used the pip-boy thing. Because I'm playing the game. It's far easier for me to look in one concise place for everything rather than jump between screens. It makes me feel clumsy and unorganized. However, I'm not against them doing something like this as long as it's optional. I still haven't gotten around to that Heroes of Dragon Age app or whatever it's called. I downloaded but just haven't played it. I liked Fallout Shelter until I realized I hated my vault and needed to start a new one... which I haven't, quite... So, again, as long as this stuff is optional and not imperative to play the actual game that's totally fine.

As second screen do you mean that pipboy app to where you can manage your game inventory through your phone? I've used it and found it cumbersome. Unless I was going to hand my phone to someone and tell them to do XYZ while I try not to get shot while I wait for them to do the thing I can bring up the ingame pipboy and have the game pause so I have what I need when I need it relatively easier. The collectors edition pipboy was nothing but a glorified phone case that was too small for any of my phones that were released in the past 4 years.
as for falloutshelter it was a nice game I quit playing before any meaningful update because once you unlocked the nuka cola facility the only point to continue was try to get better loot and you eventually forget when your settlers out in the waste dont need attention for 5 days while you hope they find your 20th fatman and the mean time you're doing a dumbed down version of farmville.

Infiltrator (the Cerberus mobile game) was actually freaking amazing. Too bad my Android couldn't handle it after one of the boss fights... I was never able to finish. It truly pushed the hardware limits, I'd say. But it was gorgeous.

This isn't exactly the sort of thing you suggest, but I've always thought that a datapad replica loaded with, say, the codex would make for a pretty sweet collector's edition item. Expensive, certainly - easiest way to do it would probably be to make a custom shell for a generic Android tablet - but still pretty cool, 'specially if they work on some custom content - personal notes and diagrams from the previous 'owner' of the datapad, that sort of thing - to go along with the codex.
Think of it as the Mass Effect equivalent of Halsey's journal from the Halo: Reach CE.

Not sure about something like this in ME, but app like Pip-Boy? Hell yeah! What you might not know is, that it has extreme trolling potential.
Locate someone playing Fallout 4, link your app to their account via wifi and you can throw out anything from their inventory, including equipped item, without them noticing. Even equipped gun can be thrown out , WHILE SHOOTING. A must-have app for any douchebag out there.
But again, not much use for this in ME.

It truly pushed the hardware limits, I'd say. But it was gorgeous. One of my favorite mobile games, outside of the puzzle game genre. It even gave some token bonuses for the ME3 campaign (war asset, readiness rating). Between Infiltrator and the data pad app (iOS only sadly) there were two different mobile apps tying in to ME3.

Do you think that Bioware\EA would release some sort of a companion app with Mass Effect Andromeda? If so, what would you like to have in it? I hope that they don't release some sort of a freemium card game or something like that. The companion app that came with ME3 (the Datapad app) was kinda fun, but extremely buggy and many features didn't work so good. Fallout 4 companion app was somewhat cool but I never used it once in all of my 700+ hours into the game. I guess that they would connect the app with one of the features that were leaked... the Deployed Strike Team Missions, or some sort of colonies management... But what else would you like to have?

Nah. Something decently fun but not tied to the actual game would be fine - like, say, Fallout Shelter - but I've never really felt compelled to engage much with companion apps.
Maybe a nicely-presented version of the in-game codex for your phone - I actually think a replica datapad* with the codex on it would make for a fantastic high-tier CE item - but that's pretty much it.
...
*I'm thinking it'd maybe be doable, cost-wise, if they used an off-the-shelf Android tablet reference design, and then manufactured a custom body for it, designed to look like a datapad. Probably not worth the trouble, ultimately, though--I'd be just as happy with a model of the Tempest.

Yeah a codex that obviously will be thin in the beginning until the 'pathfinders' gather more data and make contacts, I'd hope that we learnt things from other 'pathfinders' doing the same sort of stuff we are so that it feels like its living and breathing in a larger context (not that the lights only go on when we walk in the room kind of thing) I really liked the news network stuff from ME2 and spent a lot of time reading it after the game to be honest its a great source for world building Also and evolving star map would be fun, again hopefully with other teams or operations adding information so its a suprise when we get a ping and its about a planet or system we haven't even heard about Oh and ME Andromeda radio playing all the hits that are popular (or popular again) given we are so far from home so I'm guessing we'll be playing a lot of old stuff for many many years

No. I don't actually care if they do a companion app, unless they lock in-game content behind it which irritates me especially if its something I'd like (like Cassie Cage Tuxedo outfit).

Whenever I think of a companion app, I think of a grind that you do in the game and I rather there not be some grind that I have to also manage outside of the game. Now I wouldn't mind a game that is set in the Mass Effect: Andromeda game world which BioWare has done similar things in the past, the best example I can think of is Deus Ex Go for I have been enjoying it and it has nothing to do with the main game.

No, not really, I don't like that sort of thing as I personally see no benefit to it other than keeping the player hooked to the game.
Just my opinion

But Bioware even didn't have an idea to use the WiiU Pad, except to remove the GUI from the television screen and put it on the WiiU pad. The PS4 is using the PS app and it is available for all developers to use it for the game (second (touch) screen, give text massages into the game/chat, and so on). No one have ever us it. There a lot of possibilities to make the experience of the game more interesting but how I sayed, no one using it. Instantly I would ordering the PS VR by Amazon, when Bioware would announce now that Andromeda will using the VR Tech.
