It's possible they're not rushing it out so they can avoid the criticism of MEA. Nobody could accuse the game of being "rushed" at this point, lol. Is the game even in developement? As in, are they sitting at their computers and has begun building the world, not just sitting around a table and discussing ideas. Haven't they been busy with Anthem these past years?

No, it’s not the same as Shepard. Shepard’s story was finished in ME3 Your Shepard's story might be finished, but my Shepard's story isn't finished. Even though the reapers are destroyed, how does anyone know if the threat is truly gone? The reapers stayed in darkspace for 50,000 years between cycles. Could there be any reapers remaining in darkspace? What about a giant space station that builds reapers? No one knows. I don't care what the thing said. Look at what it said about the green. It buttered it up just so it wouldn't be destroyed or replaced. My Shepard along with Hackett and the council want to make sure there is no longer a threat. You say Shepard's story is finished. Others disagree. Yep
As far Inquisitor returning. I wouldn't mind if he/she returns. For me its more about having AWR's voice returning. Dagna can make a mechnical arm for the Inquisitor. If the Inquisitor doesn't return, I wouldn't have a problem with a new character.

They can't really mess up the Inqi's personality. First because they didn't have one, second there are only 2 keep tiles that should affect their role in DA4; friendship status and what to do with Solas. Friends and save him - friendlier tone, reason Friends and stop him - friendlier tone, battle Not friends and stop him - "get the bald bastard!"
Gameplay wise it could be similar to the Sentinel choices. New protagonist can agree/disagree with the Inqi's goals resulting in various peaceful and agressive outcomes.

As in, are they sitting at their computers and has begun building the world, not just sitting around a table and discussing ideas. Haven't they been busy with Anthem these past years? It depends. They said in the blog after the teaser that a team was assembled to work on the next DA game. Obviously, the bulk of the workload was on Anthem, but given how many years have passed since Trespasser, it’s possibly that the DA team, no matter how small, might’ve already moved past pre-production and slowly worked on the game itself. The fact that they just shown a teaser isn’t really any indication of where development is at the moment, given that they might’ve wanted to not build up too much hype for DA against Anthem. I’d say we’ll know more at EA Play. If they’ll show just a cinematic trailer, they might be quite early in development; if they’ll show also gameplay, the team worked on the game already before Anthem’s release. Regardless, I doubt we’ll see the game before 2020.

I went with new protagonist. Either an independent actor or a secret inquisition agent would be a fun choice in my opinion.

Dual protag wouldn't make sense. First of all, the amount of voice actors needed it would be a lot and sure as hell wouldn't be cheap. You'd need back the old 4 and then 2-4 new actors to voice the new PC. Shit ton of more work. Second, new players wouldn't have a clue who the Inquisitor is. You'd have to play Inquisition to know him/her. Devs have to take in consideration all the new players and they don't always play the previous games.

Lots of games are able to be played with a returning protagonist without the player needing to have played the previous games.

Anyone who is just jumping in now should do so with the expectation that they will be a little behind in the lore. It's just the way it is.

Dual protagonist would be so expensive though. It would be really cool if they can do it but I think it's far more likely we get a new protagonist with the inquisitor as a non-playable advisor. The reason I think a new protagonist is more likely is because we get a new protagonist every Dragon Age. I don't see that changing, but who knows.

There is almost no doubt that what we'll get a new protagonist in DA4. Not only does it make more sense. But that is also how the DA franchise has worked for the last two releases.
Now we just gotta wonder.
Are we going back to Origins root for the new protagonist? Can we choose between different races, human, elf, dwarf, qunari?
And if so, will we then have different beginnings depending on the race we chose?

Then all the species have roughly the same background and could have a long playable origin story, but they’d still get treated differently out in the world, so there’d still be different flavor if you’re an elf/dwarf/human/qunari. And... obviously some key differences between mages and non-mages. Perhaps a saarebas that gets their magic late, after starting in a different role?

I’m personally very interested in Cyberpunk, though a bit less then before, since I vastly prefer third person to first in RPGs. In any case, it’s difficult to say which year both games will come out given how often delays happened in recent years, and both companies already have precedents on this.

I vote new protagonist. As much as I like my inquisitor, she only has one hand left. I can't imagine the dual wield class I chose for her working out too well in the next game.

Eh, first person, third person. CDPR have only made RPG games played in third person, I trust them when they say they felt it necessary to make Cyberpunk 2077 a first person designed game for a better, immersive design.

I kinda like the idea of a new character that could join the inquisitor or solas...but, if it's not the case i would prefer only play as the inquisitor.
