So how are the chances for Maevaris (Mae) as DA 4 companion? Could she be the fourth person on left? Also is the woman with the scroll also Mae? Full transparency -- Having Mae as a companion is my #1 request for DA4. I think it could definitely work. She's a leader in a minority opposition party at the end of DA:I, so it's not at all out of the realm of possibility that she can be out of favor and power at the start of DA4, which would easily allow her to be a companion. I see it as similar to Cassandra being a party member in DA:I. I also wonder if this might be Mae (or at least the same person as the one you are highlighting if it's not Mae): I'm hoping we see her and that she's as awesome as I'm hoping she will be!

Maybe this Mae but maybe not? Some have speculated that this woman is Calpernia. In my opinion also a great pick for a DA 4 companion.

The first one the person you're referring to doesn't have the iconic attire that Mae has been shown to wear both in the comics and the Trespasser epilogue slides. The second one is a little closer but still no. Also that woman has boobs, and Mae doesn't since she was born biologically male and had not changed her physical body.

I don't see Mae as a companion, I see her as an advisor/mentor/recurrent contact and quest giver like Dorian that we won't meet until potentially early to late mid game. Cool cat, just not going to be a companion. Yeah. Plus her being a companion gpes against the whole powerless and noody in authority will address the problem stuff the video talked about.

Yeah. Plus her being a companion gpes against the whole powerless and noody in authority will address the problem stuff the video talked about. Of course you are aware that even as a magistra Mae was an outcast in the magisterium? Also lets not forget the Qunari invasion of Mae´s hometown Ventus (the former Qarinus) which could change everything for Mae and Dorian because they lost their land to the Qunari forces.
So yeah if Bioware want to have Mae in the DA 4 party there ways to make her powerless.

Since I never read any of the comics or other books since DAI I have no idea who this maevis is. All I know about a maevis is she teaches people how to type better. (Only old people will get this. )

Perhaps, though she would still have lots of people who report to her so maybe she’d have less power but certainly not powerless. Also let’s be honest their group is definitely going to be one of the factions in Tevinter. What about my post to you about the images?

First i see Dorian more as the leader of the Lucerni and second the Lucerni aren´t really a powerhouse faction in the senat.
So yeah Mae could be joining the DA 4 party. Also i know you don´t like this but if DA 4 is really about powerless characters well
if this argument in mind Calpernia makes a lot more sense than Mae. Sorry i miss this post.

if this argument in mind Calpernia makes a lot more sense than Mae. Sorry i miss this post. You'd think it would still have her unique flair, like the feathers or something. ESpecially since it is concept art trying to capture the feel and mood of the characters. Also the hair is completely different. Yeah. I can see how that one looks like Mae with the feathers and blond hair, but once I saw her chest I realized that couldn't be Mae. The Lucerni are enough of a powerhouse that many other Magister families are worried, especially those who had ties to the Venatori like Francesca's family. With the themes being what they are, I agree Calpernia would make more sense than Mae as a companion. Though that said, that really makes me wanting Francesca a lot stronger than either since she has no influence or power in the system to speak of now, while Calpernia and Mae have Venatori remnants and the Lucerni respectively. But I know she won't, since this game seems to just be a giant middle finger to me at this point. No worries.

Hopefully just a prominent NPC, and not wasting a companion/romance slot. Also hope she can actually be put down this time.

Calpernia doesn't even get a slap on the wrist. But yeah, considering the others we could execute it seems weird the top 2 offenders get off the most.

It had to be Vetra, right? If that’s an indication, you’d better make a trip to REI and to buy some climbing gear because I predict a little dwarf-y lady planning to scale a tall horned lady in your future......

You know me too well. Vetra all the way! I actually like Peebee a whole lot as a character and LI, but her asari-ness plopped her in second place (uh, not due to any space racism, it's just we've had a lot of asari to either romance or flirt with in ME and I feel like they're going to keep filling up those bi woman romance slots which could go to, you know, humans and quarians and turians....). Yeah, but I'm talking about my first playthrough. And indecision. Ah, I see. Well, I hope you get at least one of those or something else you really want. Thank you. I know you're disappointed so far, but I hope something (or someone) pops up that you can look forward to.

None of the characters presented scream my kind of person, and I highly doubt they'd do any romance I want beyond "Well that's a valid interpretation of the character/romance" (which I still appreciate, but still would like something more explicit than that). And then of course all the other things that I won't repeat here.

Not to mention bandits and foot soldiers, who don’t even get a formal choice to be put to death — they just die. Their lives are de facto assumed to be less valuable than the bigwigs organizing everything. I’d rather it go the other way, personally. Set a stake in the ground that heroes don’t view anyone as deserving of death, and provide alternative ways of dealing with the threat enemies pose. Of course, that’s not within the scope of the genre (and would be much more difficult to implement), so I don’t really fault Dragon Age for not doing it.

I would love if Bioware in their games could implement non-lethal ways of taking down enemies. Whether that be non-lethal combat, more RP opportunities to avoid fights, and so on. One reason I was hoping Vaea would be a companion, since she doesn't kill when she fights so maybe that would be a specialty that we could learn too. But yeah such things would probably be easier for games like Mass Effect, since that could be as simple as guns being able to set for stun.

I, and a few others, have mentioned wanting alternatives to combat, and LukeBarrett has shown some interest in the topic. It's not much, but don't lose hope yet!
