Schmooples' Den! The DA News Discussion Thread

This was the problem I had with the revelations about the Creators. Up until DAI and Trespasser it was a matter of whether or not an elf wished to believe in their gods for which they had no absolute proof, just stories passed down to them, which was exactly the same as for Andrastrianism or simply faith in the Maker. I was happy with this and accepted that belief in a deity in the Thedas universe was totally different from that found in D&D, where you would be crazy to doubt that a particular god existed but did not "believe" in the agenda they stood for.

What I objected to was the fact that for an elf, like my Inquisitor, it would be hard to go on believing in his particular racial gods when all the evidence pointed to them simply being powerful individuals who assumed this gave them rights over lesser ones. In fact it did make them more like D&D gods, since if you still agreed with the agenda attributed to them, you could still have "faith" in them and even work towards their return, particularly if you hoped you might be rewarded by them for doing so.

However, it is clear now that when it was asserted that the Maker would never be definitively proven one way or the other, this was the only deity to which this applied and thus the only deity that was substantially different from the gods found in D&D. In fact the Maker seems more like AO in D&D, the overlord deity who occasionally would be credited with slapping the other gods down to size because he felt they weren't fulfilling their godly duties sufficiently well, but otherwise stayed at a distance from the affairs of the mortal world.

Well, that was David's view. He's not there now. Personally, I hope they take a different approach. I feel like in this fictional universe, what's good for the Evanuris should be good for the Maker. I hope they spill the tea on this Maker. I love mystery, but eventually I also want some answers. I'm not saying make the "gods" common. Rather, solve some mysteries, then create some more.  Allow our understanding of them to evolve. That's what I would like to see.

First day at @bioware’s new shop! Going to really enjoy working in this amazing new space...

The CN Tower is in Toronto. BioWare Edmonton is still in Edmonton. Both cities have a Rogers sports complex - Rogers Centre in Toronto, and Rogers Place in Edmonton. 

The CN tower in Edmonton was built about 40 years before the Toronto thing.    Trana stole the name.
