To be fair It wouldn' tfee llike Dragon Age without a tleast one mission in the Deep roads given ewvisi tthem in ever yDA. That's wh yfo rme until Descent came out DAI felt a bit od dt ome as we neve rreall ygot t ohave a serious go a tth eDarkspawn. I love the deep roads. Never really enjoyed the Fade though. But I am sure we gotta go to the Fade lol. I hated the Deep roads in Origins I always dread taking on Orzamma rtbh whe nplayin git. I don't mind the Deep roads in 2 or Inquisition though The fade was always my favouriet part as ther's abi tther in the maqg etower quest where there's a Ogre in on eroom on his ow nand I love usin gthe shapeshiftin gpower t oturn myself int oa Golem and punching him in th enuts so for me I never minded the Fade.In fac tth emage quests are often m yfavourites in these games.

I have a feeling it may not be VERY early - Varric would have to win over both the new PC and newcomers to the series, so I don't think they'll treat him with an arrow to the face after 3 interactions or something. I do wonder if they’ll cut some parts tomorrow. Mike Gamble’s screenshot seems to have been taken from tomorrow’s showing, and it’d be indeed weird if he dies right away. We also know we’re going to recruit Neve before he dies anyway, since there’s screenshot of them together with Rook and Harding. If Varric indeed dies (he may not - maybe it's someone else. Something happens to Inky maybe?) IMO it may not happen before we recruit the whole crew.

Keep in mind this game promises to be fairly massive and 'open'. SO a couple things to consider on just how early early is.
A. If we get Origins stories again in addition to choosable factions then its probable that those stories will take place within our home nation/ area and then at the end of it we set off to Minrathous for reasons. And even if we are already there, like for the Shadow Dragons, then we could still get something that inspires us to go on to meet Varric. So in this regard the 'opening of the game' could be the Ostagar equivalent for the story and not the actual full opening of the game.
B. If we look at games like TW 3, AC OD, and AC Val the 'opening of the game', was a rather meaty piece of content. Like around the 6-10 hour mark (variable depending on how much you did) as you and your character got immersed in what was bound to be a 100 hour journey. Same thing could happen here either in addition to the 'Origin Stories' I mentioned above, combined with them, or entirely seperate from if we don't get any. This is a lot of time to introduce various elements, immerse ourselves, get to know Varric maybe, and move on with his death which could be a further 'inciting incident'.

During the prologue when everything goes to hell, Varric is going to stay behind to give us time to escape. He'll either die during that or we’ll be left thinking he did.
Maybe he’ll appear at the end, die during that but not before giving us a “I’m proud of you.” speech.

I do not like our player character speaking without our input in the slightest.
I am also very concerned about Bioware characterising the Inquisitor without our say in the matter, like with Hawke but more egregious.
I honestly would rather play as them for the prologue and have them die horribly and unavoidably than have them be mischaracterized.

I can choose a Warden background as a warrior who can possibly dual wield. If one of the choices that we make as the Inquisitor is who drinks from the well. I think that greatly increases the chances of Morrigan appearing. I might recreate my Hero of Ferelden.

OK I missed a picture and oof. Damn. Also once again the graphics in this game are already impressing the crap out of me. That looks like a fairly realistic tear. Most games struggle with tears and stuff. Also the gif of Neeve posted just a bit ago was a bit short and cut off but that was a fairly natural looking smile and not the grimace we have seen lately from more games then just Andromeda.

The trailer's biggest crime was making me feel like a boomer - it's true. For me it was showing the storyteller. I lost interest when I saw him. Hopefully he's only seen in the trailer and not the game.

I kind of want to try out Lucanis early simply to see if I haven't misjudged him but then that would leave one slot for, just based on what we know, Harding, Neeve, or Davrin.

Crow - human,elf Warden-human,elf,dwarf Lords of Fornune- all races Shadow Dragons - human,elf Mourn Watch- human,elf Veil Jumpers - all races? It would certainly be odd to be a Qunari Mourn Watch or Crow. I'd have to assume there are some limitations.
