Is anyone already brainstorming their "Rooks", or is it just me? I can't decide between Grey Warden, Antivan Crow or Lord of Fortune.

I really like stuff like this. Hopefully the choices result in a decent difference in the journey your character goes on and isn't just cosmetic, increases replayability even if you can't see everything in one playthrough

You and me both. My problem is that the Rook I had in mind is basically Lucanis. Even the hairstyle hahaha! Now I'll have to recreate my concept, especially considering that "warden" is on the table. 

Yeah things could change but basic concept that I was working on given the time period and stuff is Tevinter son of a noble house yet is born without magic joins the army to fight in the Qunari war, finds out a lot of corruption is happening, something happens so he goes home to start fighting in a resistance movement on his own. But eventually he starts meeting a small team of people, something happens though so he has to go into hiding...thinking Shadow Dragons may also work.

Always risky to talking about who our characters will be inspired by. But figuring my boy will be inspired by Oliver Queen from the Arrowverse. Still gotta choose where on Oliver's journey I will start my Rook though. 

I primarily built two timelines in the last 10 years.

Timeline 1: A dark fantasy with a heavy emphasis on magic. Choices are always morally gray, the Inquisition remains intact, and the plan is to make an omelet out of Solas at any cost.

Timeline 2: Heroic themes dominate, focusing on sacrifice and redemption. This timeline features mostly good-aligned characters who have disbanded the Inquisition and seek to redeem Solas.

I'm considering starting with Timeline 1, pondering which Rook might fit into a dark, magic-driven, power-hungry world. Perhaps the obvious answer would be "mortalitasi", but I'm divided into Grey Warden, Lord of Fortune, and Crow.

I'm usually drawn to make a human warrior with noble intentions and a sense of duty. So possibly a good faction for my Rook would be the Grey Wardens which means I will probably never take Davrin around- which I'm fine with. He seems the least interesting as far as dialogue goes anyway. I can see myself taking Lucanis and Harding around everywhere, switching out with Bellara now and then. Might swing with the Crows if it means I get better and more interesting dialogue with Lucanis, especially if romance is involved.

So here is the issue (for me) with how some of the characters look. (BTW, if someone has already pointed it out, please forgive me. Haven't fully caught up with the thread.) This image sort of shows what I mean:




Emmerich (sp?) is the biggest offender of this style, but there are elements of this in others. It is harder for some to "role-play" relationships with characters that appear less realistic. I am not suggesting that it can't work - been able to RP a number of different styled games - but when it comes to DA we have a certain idea of how things visually "feel". This is not a style we have played around with prior. And yes, it does seem more in line with games that are of the hero-shooter style as of late. (The whole hero-shooter term, is new to me, so again, sorry if I am not using the terminology correctly.)

It should also be mentioned that when I say relationshhip I don't mean strictly romance/friendship. It also means colleagues. authority figures we may have to work close to, villains and antagonists, etc... It also makes me wonder what the in-game animations will be like. Of course, we should see tomorrow.

I have seen much of the info that has been posted here over the past 8 hours, and I do like what I am reading/seeing. So this may be a non-issue, in the end. Here is hoping I move past my reservations. Cheers!
