I don't know! Like, the Rook is now somehow connected to the fade because of the ritual, and Solas is somehow stuck in the fade, and we are using his old base. He went from a threatening villain to a possible... mentor(?!) figure, because you know he is going to be popping in our dreams n shit constantly, telling us what to do. But I guess we'll see. Oh, I am feeling juuuuuust a little bit SMUG right now... (let me have it for a moment - I've had a so-so week) Because this sort of direction could be felt since Trespasser, where we journey through locations heavily related to Fen'Harel and we can feel him guiding us - I've had an inkling this was a distinct possibility ever since Mike Laidlaw (AFAIK) said that Trespasser is a showcase of what we could expect in DA4.
(granted, the fact that the game begins like this doesn't tell us where it ends, and in BG3 a guiding/mentor figure ultimately CAN turn into an obstacle, at least under specific circumstances) There is nothing in the article that suggest Solas talks to you or has any way to contact you...
In fact, the article confirms the two Evanuris are blighted, so big chance Solas is currently swimming in the Blight.

Should we maybe start a thread for people who want to discuss this article so people who want to avoid spoilers can still read this thread?

So Mark Darrah still works on Dragon Age as a consultant. ...I can imagine him sitting in an armchair and dispensing sage advice

Nudity directly in the character creator is a bold choice. Did they fired all the prude at BioWare or something. Also, I guess now we know why they haven't shown it. I don’t think that’s why they haven’t shown it. Character creators that have nudity all have the option to turn it off.

I expected them to revel in Solas' villainy for much longer until the story deems it necessary that we co-operate somewhat.
Though as you said, it's perfectly reasonable to also expect that Solas will continue his plans even if we manage to deal with the Evanuris. Like I'd feel robbed without a big Fen'Harel boss fight... I think that's what a lot of fans want as well.

I don't know if any of my Inquisitors would have a positive reaction to that especially since they had high approval from Solas. But you're right the article is vague about whether you discuss anything further with Solas after that first contact. You do get to go live in his condo and use his toilets so there is that.

How do you think Solas contacted Rook and told him what happened/told him of Lighthouse? He also says that he's trapped in the Fade. The Evanuris are blighted, which doesn't mean they managed to get him - it may be simply a result of him escaping where he could before they did anything.
Besides - we don't really have to talk with him, for him to still be a looming presence, and his story being told through Lighthouse (whatever other clues we get across our adventure).
And that'd be very close to Trespasser, where aside from our meeting at the end, nowhere in Trespasser we contact directly with him, yet we learn quite a lot about him and his past.

I really don't want to know who they are, or any story spoilers, but I want to read the non-spoilery stuff. I don't want to have to go dark yet, there's still much I need to know about gameplay. I got into reading it and it does spoil the set up for the game, basically. I didn't care to find that out just yet. Edit. I'm still reading it. Way too much info here if you want to go in blind. There's way too much specific info about the game in this article. I realise the purpose for the article is make people excited but fugdesicles, there's even lore in the article!

So, I peeked at the images only and did my best to not focus on any words. There's a lot of Bellara shown. *eyes her suspiciously because apostate* Are you going to be the betrayer of this game, lady? Can someone say if the sections talking about systems, like CC, combat, companion specializations, have story spoilers sprinkled in? I'm wondering if I can read bits and pieces and not get any story stuff spoiled. Either that or will hope a kind soul can do a non-spoiler summary of the important stuff related to systems.

Rook gets connected to the Fade (also explains why Harding now has magical powers), doesn't have anything to do with Solas especially. It does mean he might get to harass you in your dream every nights, along a few demons, spirits and who knows what...

But he does talk to you initially was my point and explains his plan was to create a new prison for the too old gods that would hold them better.
Ok...why could you not have just explained this to the Inquisitor? Especially at the point where they discovered you were Fen Harel?!

Well damn. I'll have to stay away from the internet until release? I don't want to get too many spoilers But I've heard a few non-spoilery things. Apparently they went crazy with the CC. I hope they show it off sometime soon

Does the article talk about the companion system, and the other companions? Would love to know a bit more about them. Like I already know cutesy Bellara probably won't be in my team often or at all.
Speaking of which, does the article mention how essential it will be to rotate companions in our team? I remember someone saying you will need certain companions' skills from time to time.
(Sorry, not reading the article because I don't want plot spoilers.)

It does mean he might get to harass you in your dream every nights, along a few demons, spirits and who knows what... I'd argue it does, because this all happened through disrupting his ritual - this is also likely how Solas can contact Rook and explain their current predicament/hand keys to Lighthouse. This also suggests possibility of future interactions, at least at some times in the story. Anyway, gotta say - one thing this article doesn't spoil AT ALL is what happened to Varric, or says anything of the involvement of Inquisitor. It's like they want to keep a heavy lid on it for now

Ok...why could you not have just explained this to the Inquisitor? Especially at the point where they discovered you were Fen Harel?! All of Solas earlier plans have been upended by Corypheus surviving the opening of Fen'Harel's orb, so there's no telling what he knew he has to do at the time of Trespasser.
Also - because with all the shenanigans of last decades (Blight, Cory, etc) maybe the prison began deteriorating at an alarming speed, hence Solas was seemingly in such a rush??

They talked a lot about Bellara. I gathered she is the pet creation of the writers. I hope she is well written because the word "spunky" was used to describe her and that is kinda Disney-cringe. I can deal with spunky, though I maybe would have liked the word "moxie" more, but maybe I'm old like that. It sounds like you need her specific skills to complete one mission. Does this come off as being something that'll happen with all companions? Not a fan, if so, this sounds like it really would force you take people you might not like with you just to complete a mission or to grind out their.... resonance? friendship? squad cohesion? Do I need to nurture their social link to rank 8 before I can unlock an upgrade to their Persona that will allow me to finish a mission? Sorry, war flashbacks. With only 2 people in the party, not a fan of this implication. I'd forgive it if the companion with the mandatory skill is the extra third.

Not a spoiler, Mark Darrah said "it is the best Dragon Age game he has ever played!" Yeah, but Darrah's also said Inquisition is the best Dragon Age game, so I'm not sure I trust his sense of taste But truth be told, I am cautiously optimistic about this one.
