Origins and Inquisition were notable for the fact that every "potential" player character is implied or outright stated to exist regardless of which one the player picks. With that precedent, Veilguard will likely be the same. If I'm reading right that every race/faction combination has a different last name, then four races combined with six factions means that there are twenty-four "potential" Rooks coexisting in the same universe. I wonder what will befall the twenty-three that we don't pick.

I read the very first part, and laughed when it said "notably, instead of a warrior class, we could have chosen mage or rogue". Like yeah, we've had those choices literally throughout the franchise lol. (GameInformer authors when finding out there's more than one class)

To be honest, I doubt the other Rooks will exist. That’s 23 other characters, so BioWare will never bring them up.

Five actually, if we want to get specific since Human and Elf Mage have different backstories than their Warrior/Rogue counterparts. And as you said, they were never actually brought up (I don’t see the others as existing) so only Origins did that.

And as you said, they were never actually brought up (I don’t see the others as existing) so only Origins did that. Those differences are just to account for mage vs non-mage. I think if Trevelyan/Lavellan had lost a sibling in the Breach, it would have been mentioned.

Any that aren’t recruited will just be nameless members of these factions, ones we'll never encounter or hear of.

Evoker, Death Caller, and Spellblade Mage specs! Cool names! I can see my Qunari mage splitting between Deathcaller and Spellblade.

Now I wonder what kind of jump attacks Mage gets. And the spec are all tied to a faction going by the icon beside them:
Warrior: Champion = Warden, Slayer = Lord of Fortune, Reaper = Mourn Watch Mage: Death Caller = Mourn Watch, Evoker = Shadow Dragon, Spellblade = Crows Rogue: Duelist = Crows, Saboteur = LoF, Veil Ranger = Veil Jumper and Wall of Fire doesn't appear to have a resource cost, just a long CD. Interesting.

Just give me Fade Step, plz. Then I'll be happy just to dart all over the battlefield like a cat with zoomies.

Evoker, Death Caller, and Spellblade Mage specs! Read that at first as sub-specializations or playing styles for Necromancer (which would be cool, but whatever). Now I realize it's likely Evoker= Elementalist, Death Caller = Necromancer, Spellblade = "Combat", the 3 mage specs.

Makes sense. But I have to imagine (even though they said we pick our spec at the beginning of the game) that choosing a Faction doesn't lock you into a specific Specialization.

As Warrior-Mages are my jam, I am curious about the Crow connection. Will it have a shadowy bent to their abilities?

I was thinking the faction icons on the skill trees might be something like it shows where is that specialization originating from? But you can choose the specialization for any faction.

The skill trees are intimidating. Do we know hoje many skill points per level and if leveling is the only way to get them?
