Thanks for mansplaning and trying to gaslight my impression of what I've seen, not seen, and what is just bizarre in how it's been explained. Still haven't changed my mind but good try. What is it about the term gas lighting being thrown around with no regard to its actual usage? Having a different opinion then you is not gaslighting. Not to mention "mansplaining"

Got question for everyone, given some comments made by a BioWare developer in a recent article. When you all hear a developer say, "Modern Audiences," what's your initial perception and what do you believe the term means?"Not for me" On a more serious note, it indicates an abandonment of whatever made the product popular in the first place in an attempt to chase whatever Current Year fad is in vogue right now. Thus it will probably have some sort of political, social, or cultural "message" that will leave the game horribly dated in a few years because by then the world will have moved on to another Current Year issue.

When you all hear a developer say, "Modern Audiences," what's your initial perception and what do you believe the term means? When people say modern audiences, it usually means they're trying to expand beyond their hardcore fanbase. There's nothing wrong with expanding since you want to make as much money as possible, the question is, can you broaden your appeal while maintaining your core base? Star Wars under Disney tried to expand the audience but have been failing miserably in attracting few new fans while at the same time, alienating their hardcore Star Wars fans. In contrast, I think Dragon Age does a good job with this, each game is different and appeals to different people but the core which is the world and characters retains the same quality regardless of what your overall feelings are to the respective game.

ME 1: Have to recruit Kaidan, Ashley, Liara (vital to the plot), optional Garrus (have to interact with him) and Wrex (think you have to interact with him but I am not sure) Wrex will show up at the elevator if Shepard doesn't talk to him before that. A/K and Tali are mandatory. Garrus OR Wrex are also mandatory, but you don't have to take both (and can shoot Wrex later) Liara must be recruited, but you can put that off until just before the endgame, I believe (and get some pretty funny alternate dialogue if you wait that long)

From GI: "Every time you rank up a companion's Relationship Level, you unlock a skill point to spend specifically on that companion." The Skill Tree may contain certain "skills" that you like and select but during the game you find out they come from a companion that you have no affinity for. I think you missunderstand something. As you see from the text from GI articel your companions getting skills from you. But it isn't the other way around. You don't need a companion to get a certain skill.

I have honestly no idea. I don't remember ever talking to a gaming person who considered themselves part of those "modern audiences". Also, why the plural? Is there more than one and if so, what's the difference between them? It's probably just marketing speak though. I just hope it's not a nice sounding way of saying "we're ditching our old fan base and are going for a new one". I've heard a number of differing answers from people I've asked in other media circles. In no order, a list of responses I've been given was the following: - Appealing to people who haven't played the studios prior games multiple times over, or have played them at all. - Appealing to people who enjoy specific video game titles, such as Call of Duty, Fornite, Overwatch, etc. Basically, games commonly played by younger audiences. - Appealing to younger audiences - Appealing "Twitter" People - Making considerations for controller inputs and UI/visual experience that today's audience is more familiar with. - Appealing to people who've played contemporary games (i.e. games that have released within the last 5-7 years). It's been all over the place. Sometimes I really had to get people to nail down what they mean specifically. I did this because some responses were, "it means a game that is not for me." Others would be more contentious, such as, "games that were made by DEI devs." Yeah, same... that's why I have no idea. The easiest thing would probably be if there was someone on this forum who considers themselves a part of that "modern audience" and explain.

Does the “modern audience” term equivocate with the move of target audiences for Biower’s content to a younger crowd? They stated so in the run up to Andromeda. And the R rated horror in DAO evolves into a pre-teen rating.
Dunno, just watching trends. Anyone know what the rating level of Veilguard is, or is gonna be?

I think every game they've produced since Mass Effect 1 (barring Anthem) has been M-rated. The sheer fact that the character creator is expected to have nudity already indicates that it will receive an 'M' rating

Considering that they’ve repeatedly said this game is going to be the most sexually graphic to date, that alone locks it into a M rating.

We've gotten a trailer, gameplay reveal, two major magazine covers, several smaller interviews, a comic con panel, and constant answered questions on Discord in the last two months. Things have been A LITTLE slow for the last week but they can't reveal it all at once, we will get a lot more before release, and they probably need time to put a few finishing touches on things and finalize plans because everyone knows how much gamers hate inaccurate information.
