The skeptic thread having varied discussion? This morning people were trashing it for being nominated for some small award. I mean if it’s anything that had more passioned discussion is the what did you do in Dragon Age today thread? It had mix of views positive or negative. They always carry that negative vibes, bringing everyone's moods down. It's one thing to be negative about the game. I've expressed mine a few times before but I don't let myself be shaded over that for more than a few hours. One thing the skeptics and complaints has in common, it's always "My opinion is VALID!!!". I have respected their opinions but it gets frustrating when the same thing gets reiterated for many of their comments. That went on for days and even weeks, maybe months and years too? I'm definitely not trying to do this. Indeed reading the varying reactions has been sobering in this regard.

One thing the skeptics and complainers have in common is that they like to shout "My opinion is VALID!!! And you don't get to shut me out". I have respected their opinions but it gets frustrating when the same thing gets reiterated for many of their comments. That went on for days and even weeks, maybe months and years too? I meant what I meant that he sounded upset. The later comments just reinforced that again. We can be much better than that. I'm not trying to shut them down. I was feeling they were the ones shutting me down for liking the game. Their incessant overbearing tone just paint themselves as being 'upset'. I'm just checking the thread for news. Where is the news lol At this point they’re just gaslighting people.

Game's been out for 3 weeks now. I'm going to see how long you're going to keep using that excuse January 1st at least. Granted we'll see what happens after but based on how I usually play games and the apparent size of the game it'd take me that long usually if I didn't get my head start and I doubt most people even have the 'free time' I do. Plus the holidays. Also if you don't want to seem upset you might try reacting to a logical point with more then 'that's an excuse'. And yet you're here discussing the game, which is what many people who are hyped end up doing. Every major hype game had tons of discussion and posts around launch. You think people weren't posting about Black Myth or Elden RIng because they were playing the game? These aren't either or prospects, especially considering a lot of gamers have 2 monitors now, a phone, or whatever else that connects to the internet. People are very capable, as you have shown, of both playing and posting about games, and that's usually what happens. People tend to make the excuse that people are offline playing the game only when the reception is poor and online discourse is weighted to the negative. Steamcharts indicates a Sunday playerbase concurrent peak of 40k. So the game's lost over half of its playerbase. EDIT because timezones

I'd be here no matter what and some small regret staying on here and SM in general has led to quite a few things spoiled.

USUALLY they're policed quite thoroughly on launch

I'm pretty sure the devs said Inquisition was their best selling game shortly after it released. Honestly, I think sets bad precedence - BioWare dev learn from mistakes, and I think it's bad to learn that "we should make more games like Inquisition because more people like it". Either way they're going to learn from Veilguard sales. FWIW I want Veilguard to succeed but we all know it's not a clear win. They must improve the next game (if there will be one), and learn to synthetize what's best from older and newer game, otherwise we stuck in a limbo of learning from wrong lessons. DA2 is a great Dragon Age, and it's even easier to see in hindsight, but it deserved the backlash it got. Yep, DA2 was a huge downgrade compared to DAO, that's the main reason it got the backlash, writing wise, it was tight, I think it's slightly better written than DAO, if it was presented like DAO (multiple background/class), I am sure like 60% (at least) of the backlash would be gone.

After all these years, I think it's a tragedy that DA2 wasn't considered to be a model for the industry. These bloated dev cycles are just ridiculous. Everyone says they're going to shorten them, but they never do.
At least Bio's showing some sense by trying to push Mass Effect 5 out the door while people still remember what Mass Effect is.
