Yes, he is. Just like those other ladies I mentioned. And possibly any Templar if one plays a mage. And Morrigan. And Isabela. And Bull. And Miranda. Heck, Miranda. No one of those is an elf, so blanket mistrust would not make much sense to me, if they was true.
My first comment was pretty much intended as a joke as well, but I should probably have come up with the proper meme from... CinemaSins was it if I recall right? Thought that regardless of the point, more cynical humor would be common and therefore no issue in here, given the multitude of jokes that I encountered here and cannot quite understand. Later I tried to point out that Solas isn't the best argument either, at least for me. He's much better than the Chantry personnel I listed at when it comes to condescension.
I don't really think this was about character's condescension. And I think this may basically be Pentapod's gentle, roundabout ribbing of writers responsible for writing at least some elves -especially one responsible for Solas After all, we can't really trust that Weekes won't break our hearts again, ey?
Well, that would be ok with me. I don't trust any of them writers.
On the other hand, I'm probably overly annoyed by other players taking that seriously and getting all "Humans #1! Bow to the Maker, b*tch!". I probably have seen this notion used too many times. Or I got too much exposure to Sera.

Hm... a way to make money, I guess... and to promote their works.... which is not a bad idea.
And, on the subject of books, Cyberpunk 2077 dialogues are at least two books thick.!!! Now that is a RPG title. I can't see DA, at launch, having anywhere near one book of dialogues, simply because of the nature of live-service games. But, hey... I'll be happy if proven wrong.
Still, lately, BIO mgt has concentrated on candy visuals at the expense of good, solid story writing. Bio mgt must be salivating at the new console hardware rumoured to be coming out in 2020 (my guess is fall). The PS5 will have a SSD for its disk drive. Say goodbye to slow loading screens. Memory is reported to be around 20-24GB. Understandable, if very high resolution textures are used and also gives the designer options, like load the next area of a map as the player approaches the edge of the current one, as a background process(can be done today if memory allows).
It would be shameful if Bio does not take advantage of the new hdw capabilities with a strong and deep story and with characters we all can love and hate.

Feed it special food to raise your relationship. Get it toys. Play with it with the toys. Pet its head and belly whenever you want (within logical reason. ie "Not in boss battles. ... Probably."). Give it a spot in whatever base we have where we can do all of the above and have cutscenes. Have scenes btwn it and your companions/significant other. Have it protect you in cutscenes if your relationship is high enough.
Take it on adventures without it counting for a party slot, but it can still be interacted with like a full fledged party member... >_>
Combo actions or some other kind of special synergy between the "dog-like creature" and you, and possibly the dog and (select?) party members, while in combat would also be cool. If the combat system itself even has such things, of course.

Potentially interesting. I didn't include having a pet as an option in the 'gameplay hook' thread - although panda brought it up - but if mabari are making a comeback, I'm willing to go shopping - with ingame money - for tasty treats and comfy good boi beds.

Well, I'd like to do everything I can do with my animal companions in Warframe:
- pet them (with different animations for variety) - create a sleeping place for them that they'll actually use - leave them toys to play with (in Warframe they'll randomly chase a bouncing ball all around your orbiter) - customize their looks - customize their combat abilities - have them accompany me without using up a party slot

Hmmh, not fond of dogs/mabaris in the games. Best just to dispatch them as quickly as possible before they stagger you, preferably freeze them and then shatter

"For reasons...' implies someone wants a dog companion in the game. I hope Bio has no intention of replacing a NPC char with a dog. On the other hand a dog companion solves all the problems of dialogue trigger failures as reported in the past. Reduces cost too.... no VA required, no dialogue writing...etc.
As to "interactions".. well, the only purpose I can see for a dog is either as a hunting/war dog for solo play. Interactions, here, is rather limited, though. Another possibility is to use the dog as a "detector" ... friend/foe, magical/not, tracking/attack/incapacitate,

In Mother Russia Tevinter Imperium, the mabari betrays you. Imagine if after three games in which our party members could stab us in the back, the next one would make it possible for even our pet to turn against us, if we interacted with it in unsatisfactory ways. (Imagines a scene not unlike the one in Captain Marvel where Nick Fury loses an eye to a cat.) I mean, the original mabari did defect to Ferelden...
I've mentioned this in the wishlist thread, but if we were to get a companion quest for a mabari, I'd like us to visit the original mage circle whose Formari created the mabari or the headquarters of the Line (an ancient monastic order dedicated to preserving a purebred strain of mabari). Since Thedas allegedly also has "science project" animals like Ghilan'nain's handiwork running around, I could also see us going for a " find the origin of species"-type quest for our pet if the pet happened to be a bit more unusual.

Yes please to being able to the name and choose the colour of your pet.
We've also never had a specific pet recruiting mission like we have with party members. I would be on board if we happened to, say, get lost in a desert sandstorm or a downpour in mountains (perhaps sans other party members?) and came across an interesting critter. That reminds me, the Black Emporium had those miniature animals running around. What if our animal companion had been on the receiving end of such spell and we needed to undo it, or perhaps we just could purchase this particular spell from Xenon or someone similar? Having a miniature hunting dracolisk following us to the field and having it sometimes chi(r)p in to party banter could be cute.
After all, we can't really trust that Weekes won't break our hearts again, ey?
