If Anthem is their new model for back-end monetization, expect poor looking armour sets to start and obtain few bland ones as one progresses in the game. Still better than both DAI and ME:A. In DAI the available armor looks dropped as the game progressed, with interesting looks becoming obsolete and not being replaced. In ME:A everything just got junkier as you levelled up. Gotta agree on DAI’s armor, at least in vanilla. DLC armor was visually interesting. But in the main game as a rogue I definitely found myself trying to hold on to my cool and not overly armored trench coat for as long as possible. But by the wardens (post WEWH for me) I had to switch to something that looked like heavy armor even though I didn’t want to. The randomness of the outfit schematic drops and the lack of medium/leather and cloth armor options kinda bit me there. MEA also lost certain looks in the higher tiers but at least what you could or couldn’t make wasn’t random. I mean I like getting cool schematics in chests but at the same time I disliked getting only part of a full set and not being able to have the look I wanted, not even by buying it. I know, I’m hard to please. Lol

EA mandatory online back-end monetization and Bio's signature MO, will necessitate design changes and I'm not talking about improvement in inventory management and GUI display and GUI navigation. DA:I is a disaster here (PC wise).
If Anthem is their new model for back-end monetization, expect poor looking armour sets to start and obtain few bland ones as one progresses in the game. Expect lots of beautiful vinyl offers though, to make up for the few. In the past, games gave better gear as we level up but today, that negatively impacts vinyl sales. So I'm prepared to finish the game with bland looking armour.
Why on Earth would they take Anthem as their model when it clearly didn't do as well as they hoped? I think they're far more likely to steal from Assassin's Creed: Odyssey or some other game that was actually well-received and probably more profitable.
(I have played neither game and have no actual opinion on their respective monetisation models, but I know which one kept ending up in 'most disappointing games of 2019' lists and it wasn't the one with the ancient Greeks.)

For all that is good in this world, please no. Hey, I'm sure they're more than capable of stealing the cosmetics monetisation model without replicating the part where the game forces you to have a heterosexual relationship and a baby.
(Say what you will about the Dragon Age writing team and the many ways they bring us pain, that is something I trust them not to do. Thank the Maker.)

I haven't played Anthem, either, but I have played Odyssey and yeah, the monetisation model used was perfect (assuming one needs to be implemented, at all, which I'm guessing it does). The grind was absolutely real, but the gameplay was enough fun that you - or rather, I - didn't mind at all. It currently holds the record for my longest ever single play through any game - 179 hours, thereabouts.

While there was that whole abomination, I was actually thinking of just their DLC policies. Selling a single set that cost a quarter of the game, DLC that’s broken up into small episodic chunks you have to wait weeks for, etc. But yeah here’s hoping nobody pulls what Ubisoft did ever again.

You bought one DLC, you got it in three episodes (or all at once if you put your big person pants on and waited). There is literally nothing wrong with that model. The price, maybe. But the basic model of sale and release, nothing. Different to Bioware? Sure, but so what?

Then why are you posting? Because any member of the forum can post in this thread, Hanako. Disagreeing with you does not constitute disqualification from doing so. And that will do for this particular sideline.

To be fair, isn't that kind of a requirement for the premise of Assassin's Creed, though? There's really no way to write around it. If the Animus is gonna work, it has to be the genetic memory of your ancestor, not someone else's. Or have they changed that since I checked last?

I believe they've updated it where you can use someone else's genetic material and then view with their memories. Unless I am very much mistaken Layla Hassan wasn't a direct decendent of Alexios/ Kassandra and they had to get the genetic material to replay the memories off of the spear of leoinidas. Though in this case we know that line continued on after ancient Greece as was revealed in the DLC in question so yes...some kind of kid was pretty much a given.

Hey guys - I actually meant both 'sidelines' should stop, sorry that wasn't clear.
We were addressing a specific post that referenced Odyssey in discussion about DA4s potential monetisation and/or DLC policy. Now it's just Odyssey and we have a thread for that. In fact, a whole other subforum. If anyone wishes to continue the Odyssey discussion, please take it to the appropriate thread. Also, let me know if you'd like your post(s) moved there and I can handle. Any posts after this one that continue the discussion will be move, though.
Thanks.

The "model" I am referring to is that the game gives us poor looking armours as in-game loot while they offer awesome looking vinyl armours for real money purchases. I'm a DA fan but I'd be pizzed off if that happens in DA4.
Which is my point. Apologies if I was unclear.

I just got the joke LOL It's a little awkward for someone who has different cultural connotation with 'eggs'. Eggs in a lot of Eastern European countries = slang for male gonads Inquisition will imprison your balls, folks ;P
