^^ It would be kind of funny if all these expectations of "Oh, the DA4 will definitely be about the Tevinter/Qunari war and you play as an Altus mage/elven slave/qunari gladiator/Ambassadoria dwarf etc." ended up being totally baseless and instead we'd start the next game as a Seheron native who finds a cache of unhached Griffon eggs (griffons being claimed a native species to Seheron) and proceeded to spend the entire game building the newly independent island nation of Seheron, its militia, foreign relations etc. and through this process kicking out both Tevinter and Qunari forces.

Why am I not completely opposed to that idea?

This I would like to see developed. However, who would be the protagonist? A new hero/heroine? The Wardens are out of the picture. The Inquisitor? I doubt it. That role is also done and over with.
A Tevinter War Theatre more likely than not requires a Tevinter character that rises from humble beginnings. No foreign interloper need apply. Also, another Origin story would be nice. Plus, Morrigan making a comeback is also acceptable. There's heavy magic involved. Lest we forget, bring Varric back too.
Bring the Arishok back as well and, PLEASE, DON'T CHANGE HIS FACE.
Edit: Also bring Tallis back. That DLC was funny.

Lest we forget, bring Varric back too.
What business would he have in the north now? He's Viscount of Kirkwall, so his carefree adventuring days are over. Bring the Arishok back as well and, PLEASE, DON'T CHANGE HIS FACE. The DA2 Arishok is either dead or disgraced. However, long live Arishok "Sten". With any luck we will meet him again. A Tevinter War Theatre more likely than not requires a Tevinter character that rises from humble beginnings. Not necessarily. Every human background up to now has been that of nobility, even Hawke. They may have started DA2 impoverished but once they had the cash they were able to restore the family to their ancestral home and were accepted as nobility even by the Orlesian Duke Prosper. It would make a pleasant change for the human PC not to come from the aristocracy but if the writers run true to form then the human PC will likely be from an Altus family even if not a mage, or at the very least a Laetans. However, I am hopeful that the PC will start off as a slave or a liberati whether human or not.

Chris @cgiorno926 @patrickweekes is Dragon Age 4 going to be affected by the layoffs by EA?? I'm getting really scared for the franchise because I've been obsessed since origins. I love DA. Would you legally be able to release the rest of the story if EA shuts DA4 down??
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes No, I would not be able to. I do not own Dragon Age. EA does.
Chris @cgiorno926 Are the layoffs gonna affect the game??
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Sorry, I cannot comment on that. Also, to be clear, we have only announced that we are making a game in the Dragon Age universe. We have neither announced nor confirmed a "Dragon Age 4".

No, it really isn't. She's overworn her welcome and was completely unnecessary in DAI.

Only if I can kill her. how was she completley unneccessary in Inquisition? I mean I get the argument that she could have overworn her welcome but she was one of the more vital non companion characters to the plot of Inquisition and a lot of things wouldn't have happened in the third act if it wasn't for her. Either way I also think Inquisition sets her up as being absolutley vital to the future. I find it super likely she'll be in 4.

How is she necessary for anything? It's just as likely she was shoe-horned in and the story was written in a way to make her more important than she really is.

I don't know, but being a daughter of the previous de facto ruler of the world that is still actively scheming to do something world-changing might have something to do with it... Unless it turns out she's actually thousands of years old, I'm not going to call her Mythal's daughter. But, since she didn't even know about that all the while she was intruding on my WT, it's also irrelevant. Of course, now that she *does* know, she's going to be even more insufferable and full of herself. Assuming she shows up again.

Of course, now that she *does* know, she's going to be even more insufferable and full of herself. Assuming she shows up again. It's Mythal that clearly has plans towards her and OGB Kieran literally calls Morrigan the inheritor. She doesn't need to be a biological daughter to be a sanctioned offspring or successor, especially that elves were magical beings that were deeply connected to the spirit world, so we don't even know how descendence/succession worked among ancient elves or how Mythal understands it. It also doesn't matter that she didn't know - Flemythal makes it super-clear (she underlines it in every DA chapter to date) that the reason Morrigan is the way she is or why she is eager to chase mysteries or preserve ancient, albeit dangerous relics like the Well Of Sorrows is specifically because Flemythal has instilled that drive into her. It's why she's so amused during Inquisition meeting and clearly pleased that Morrigan did and is exactly where she appears to have predicted her to.

Especially when said mother obviously still has plans of her own which may or may not have to do with countering Solas. I mean this is probably just my take on it but I get the distinct impression from Inquisition that Morrigan now is basically responsible for Mythal's legacy from here on and could be one of the vital keys to the preservation of Thedas in the future and maybe even in stopping Solas.

Probably, if Morrigan voluntarily accepts Mythal's spirit or whatever Flemythal pushed through that eluvian. I'm curious about two other potential recipients of Mythal's spirit... The Inquisitor, if they drank from the Well (they voluntarily drank) and Solas (who appears to have voluntarily taken on some part of Flemythal.) We know that Mythal can have pieces of herself in different places at once. So... what if there are pieces of her in Morrigan and Solas (for playthroughs where the Inquisitor did not drink from the Well) or Morrigan, Solas, and the Inquisitor (in playthroughs where the Inquisitor did drink). I'm not sure that it will ever come into play because it seems like it would be a complicated plotline with too many variables. But one can dream, anyway.

John Epler @eplerjcI feel like biomasika is going to start hiding when he sees me, because 95% of my conversations with him start with 'so, I had an idea, and it's a complicated one.' Most of my ideas are delivered with a big grin and a caveat of 'please feel free to ignore this if this is a bad idea'.
