Does anyone have an idea of how crafting is done in DA4? I've looked but came up empty. I don't believe transmorg is crafting... just a re-skin I think. Is Bio bringing back recipes and schematics? Will there be glyphs? In Inquisition, I found better armour from loot than from crafting... but that could just be me.
I think the only time Bioware talked about crafting is during Discord Q&A. They said we will be able to upgrade our gear, which is not really the same as being able to craft it.

Since Avowed is officially delayed Bio as an opportunity to add more "polish" by launching the game in November. The studio itself said they want this game to be the "best" they ever made. It stands to reason, then, that Bio takes advantage of this breathing room. Ideally, launching in Oct is still a good idea to give it some breathing room from AC Shadows (Nov. 15).

Ideally, launching in Oct is still a good idea to give it some breathing room from AC Shadows (Nov. 15). If they really have confidence in their game then it would also allow momentum to build so people will be playing DAV and hardly worry about AC Shadows. I've never bothered with Assassin's Creed myself so I would hate for DAV to be delayed because of it but if it means we get DAV sooner to avoid clashing with it, then all to the good.

It stands to reason, then, that Bio takes advantage of this breathing room. A few weeks or a month won't change much at this stage. If your game has polish issues, you usually need more time than that. And Bioware definitely doesn't want to release close to a juggernaut like AC Shadows.

I've got my fingers crossed that DAV will turn out to be a juggernaut hit, but AC is a juggernaut already. Since the RPG transition, they've continued to grow. AC Valhalla sold 30+ million copies, so they are the heavyweight here.

Of course right now I'm working on the assumption that I won't be invited to beta test FC25 but if I am then I may have t ochange m yplans bu tthat may be jus tdon't play Andromeda for now and play it after FC25 and Veilguard are out and I've done my initia lplaythrough of Veilguard

It was absolutely unnecessary for me to have the Assassin's Creed portion in my Old Timey London Simulator. And I just know if I tried playing AC: Odyssey I would not be able to progress the game, I'd just hang around the Acropolis and admire the great statue of Athena. Incidentally, I've been thinking about AC: Syndicate since we found out our new protagonist is called Rook. Because, you know 😏

AC Valhalla sold 30+ million copies, so they are the heavyweight here. Yeah AC i sright up ther wi thCOD and Fifa/FC with the amoun tthe ysell tbh. So Veilguard does need a bit of a gap to avoid them if it want's a moment to shine but I don't think it will help Veilguard much i fi tlaunche too clos et oa gam elike that. I think Veilguard looks good enough to do wel if that 20 minute dem ow egot i sanything to go by bu tit needs a spot wher i can shin i fit' st oge tnoticed. It's a sI asi dgiven Inquisition was launcehed of fthe bac kof a grea tsuccess lik ethe ME trilogy Biowae rpossibl ycould hav egon ehead t ohead with them. Bu twhilst I liked Andromeda I have to admit it and Anthem brought Bioware crashing down so they have to be careful here. I think Veilguard can make a mark but it needs the right environment if it's going to get Bioware back on track.Given October is Halloween and we do hav ethings like magic and stuff in Veilguard being a Dragon Age game I' d say it kind of fits if they can have it ready by then.

Honestly, that was me in the post-game - I became a tourist. Hung out at major historic sites, did morning laps in the Olympic pool, hitched rides on merchant ships and let them take me on a tour of the islands, occasionally getting sunk when they wandered too close to a fleet battle. It'd be nice if there were some incentive to "hang out" in DAV in the post-game.

I know Veilguard isn't historical so it won't quite be one to one but I really want a tour mode like they did for the last few AC games and just...well have us go around all the maps without any pressure or drama and just have us look at behind the scenes stuff and artwork and the like.

The AC Discovery Tours were great, and they clearly put in a ton effort producing them. If BW could put a DA spin on the idea - fantastic (though labour-intensive). I once floated the idea of having places in the world where you could camp and then dream in the Fade. There you'd find a spirt guide who would give you the lore of that location or region. It would be "safe" to explore there, like the Discovery Tours.

AC Valhalla sold 30+ million copies, so they are the heavyweight here. AC Shadows has been mired in controversy though about its treatment of Japanese culture, so if Bioware hold their nerve they could still come out ahead at least when it comes to game awards even if AC still out performs them in sales.

Two of the members of the council did a qna livestream and talked for a bit about Veilguard. For those who don’t know, the council is a group of players, some dragon age super fans and some not, that got to play an alpha version of Veilguard. They have an nda, so nothing super spoilery, but I tagged it anyway to be safe. Mostly elaborates a bit more on companions and their opinion on combat, details on the council, as well as what they want for Solas and other miscellaneous details. Here are some of the main points I came away with: -Bellara is comparable to Dagna in terms of personality. Catie mentions that her issues with Peebee were that the character felt both too reckless and too immature, and she did not have these issues with Bellara.
-Davrin might surprise people with how forward he is. Monster hunting is a major aspect of his character.
-Harding and Lucanis will probably be the most romanced companions.
-Neve will likely be popular with the sapphic crowd. They had nicknames for all the companions and describe her as ‘a grown ass woman.’ (I don’t know what this means, but good for her.)
-Taash was the last companion to join the team. Not much is known. Neither mentioned Taash’s gender, using no pronouns, which could mean anything or nothing at all.
-Neither had a companion that annoyed them, unlike previous games.
-companions have tensions and arguments, are not all friendly all the time.
-The council had a lot of different people with different opinions on everything from Solas to importance of combat in gameplay. Everyone had their criticisms but the one thing everyone enjoyed was the combat system.
-Kala is disabled and had a lot of notes about accessibility features, felt she was listened to and many of her suggestions were implemented.
-While not mentioned in the qna specifically, to add onto this, Catie also has an anecdote where, upon learning about the link with Solas, she writes down an entire page worth of questions. Then she corners Epler and Busch and tells them all her questions. Says they followed up down the line and all these questions were resolved in some way or another.
-Even in its incomplete state, the graphics and facial animations were a clear step up from Andromeda.
Edit: lol fairdragon beat me to it. I have a cliff notes version for anyone that might not want to sit through two hours of conversation.

Something I don't get about Davrin, the whole "monster" hunter, even in the Wardens blurb you can read "they fight the blight and hunt monsters". Since when??? They hunt darkspawn. That's the only type of monsters they are after.

That's the only type of monsters they are after. I suspect the answer is in Tevinter Nights, specifically The Horrors of Hormak. After that story the Wardens have a very good incentive to hunt another kind of monster.
If nothing else, they're going to want to stop the Darkspawn stop walking into pools of Ghilan'nain's grey goo and turning into even worse thing. I suspect Davrin has been involved with their efforts in finding the other eleven undergrounds laboratories. Or maybe he was a monster hunter before he was recruited and that's how he got the job. Or both!

I could see wardens in the Anderfels fighting other monsters in their spare time, as well. Our hof could potentially kill three different high dragons by the end of Origins, so they have the skill set for it.

I suppose the Wardens do what is needed when it is not a Blight, i.e. hunt monsters among other things. I'd imagine you'd go nuts if you only sat around on your butt waiting for an Archdemon to appear.
