All I meant was that I had read speculation that mages (evoker was mentioned specifically) only had access to ice magic. That’s all The descriptor said that somewhere previously but I gather in the latest Q&A they said that was not the case and they can access all 3 elements. Mind you, that might have meant generally and not just as their specialism. It has become very confusing because it seemed like the Spell Blade used an orb and blade and the little demo showed them using ice magic. Then they seemed to suggest that the Spell Blade specialised in electrical magic, whilst the Evoker specialised in ice magic, and that all mages had the option of the orb blade for their melee weapon, so now I don't know what to think. We've had similar confusion over the Reaper specialism for warriors that sounded originally like they were a dual wielder because they used blades and then more recently this was changed to blade, so possibly a two-handed weapon or a single weapon with the option of using a shield, as elsewhere they had said there were only those two options for a warrior. I really don't know why they don't just show what the specialisms can do on paper, rather than in demos and Q&A sessions, so we have no more confusion about it.

Confusion is probably because there are too many options and the description of a few of them fails to provide us with the gestalt of the whole thing. Bio made internal testing with people very familiar with the game combat mechanics. I will await with interest new + seasoned DA gamers playing DA4 after launch and what they have to say about the combat mechanics.
Also, looking forward to the "progression" system explanation from Bio.

What a disappointing "companions reveal week", just a bunch of images. The good thing, september is around the corner and with it we'll at least get some footage from IGN.... We got some good companion info, including spoilers, in the Q&A yesterday. Neve was in the first Vows&Vengeance audio drama episode and it's not even her focus episode. We learned the name of every Companion active abilities. We had screenshot of each companion room in the Lighthouse which tells us a bit about them. Outside of spoiling the game even more, I'm not quite sure what you were expecting and VA can't participate because they are on strike. I expected a brief introduction of each char in form of video footage, maybe some interviews of the cast, which they could have done before the strike went into effect. Seeing that it's still 2 months untill release, maybe i was a little too optimistic...

Yes, you can bring one of each if you want. Each specialization has a focus around a few specific mechanics, some of which are the weapons or damage types but you can go off script and make it work for sure (this was intentional in the designs). To your other point, if we fully explained what each Spec did you would have even more questions and we would have to explain how eeeeeverything works in the progression side. Tbh, I wish I could spend an entire day doing an AMA focused entirely on progression elements as I own all of them for the game but sadly you'll just have to let marketing do its thing. I will however be pushing to be able to be way more candid after the game has been out for a week or so so I can answer all the gritty mechanical questions people might have.

I don't see why not. Regardless of how the specializations will handle the various elements, I figure elemental spells will be present already in the big, central part of Rook's skill tree. In regards of companions' week, I think it's possible the strike changed their plans. I do wonder, in the case they already done interviews with the cast, if they could still show them during the strike. I think that the risk of spoiling too much is definitely something in their mind, as the high-level gameplay video cut everything dialogue-related from it. I do think a video 'tour' of the Lighthouse could've worked to show how the various characters in the room/environment, though. The discord Q&A was good and it had also some spoilery answers, and it did make me more curious in seeing how the various interactions and relationships of different kind between the companions form and mature in the game. The IGN content should have some nice content, I think. I'd really like if they'll show off a bit of a more open-ended area.

Two-handed Champion was a really fun build in DAI, so it's nice to know that kind of stuff still works! (I hear that sword-and-board Reaver is also great but I've never built an Inquisitor that way myself. I have specced Bull that way at times, though, which means you can your eyes off him for five minutes on Hard or above without him to taking a nap on the floor.)
Anyway, I appreciate you sharing what you can! Looking forward to unpacking all the nitty gritty detail after the game is out.

I don't know where you get that from. The skill tree can't be railroaded until you railroad yourself. All I meant was that I had read speculation that mages (evoker was mentioned specifically) only had access to ice magic. That’s all The specializiation evoker has only ice that is true. But the specialization are only 1 ult skill, 1 skill and few more. But before this you get all elements in the normal skill tree. But i think we will see next week.

It is easy. I repeat myself as i done with reaper. All mages can get all 3 elements in the normal skill tree. And they all have staff and dagger/orb. I think the spell blade specialised in eletrical magic is more of a good fit. And more of a recommendation. I don't know if the evoker ice mage is a recommendation, or the ult skill is icy.
the same way reaper have two handed weapon and swort/shield. And the ult could maybe be an enchanted of this weapons.
I think the showing of the skill tree comes next week and as they work with IGN they have to wait and can't show something before hand.

Try to play vampire bloodlines, the best action rpg ever made...no companions, no romance, just a good game with good story and atmosphere would you tell me "oh no that's bad, i can't have a romance"? Is that a game from a studio renowned for games that have romanceable companions? One that has put a lot of emphasis on there being these well-crafted, romanceable companions in the new DA chapter - and even went as far as to change its name to reflect on that very important aspect of this particular RPG series??? no it's action rpg at its best
if you want to add secondary things ok, but it's an action rpg primarly..it's not about the romance or pets. Otherwis why should they bother to make a story, combat, skill trees...just make a game where you press a button and you see 2 characters kissing

I think they have had something planned with the VA live. But the strike cut that of and they change the companion week i think.

I'm really amazed at what things are important to many players. And also that Bioware answers certain questions, ignoring the more technical ones "Can we hug the companions?" WTF is this really important??? it's action RPG...talk about gameplay not these useless things Dragon age is more than an action RPG. And gameplay wasn't the highlight this week. More on the technical part next week. Be patient.
yes like last week was about PC and they showed the game played with controller

That trailer i would have shown at the start of the companion week.

So it's not surprising at all that some might want to know how we can interact with the companions. so people spend many hours to play a game when they could just watch a movie since they don't care about the real game?
if they want to see chracter kssing, talking, maybe some animals e things like this...i suggest a good TV show. it's much easier. they don't even have to care about the "useless" part where they have to build their characters in a proper way, or approach fights in the best way possible

Chill out dude. If you can't relate to other people, just give it a rest.

I always thought I only think in black and white. But you are as good as me. Maybe their are people that like both a good tv show and RPB (character builds) in their games. dragon age is a serie that try to combine both with one another.
And what does a romance (that you don't have to take) take away from you? You will get you information befor release. I am sure of that.

It's action RPG from 20 years ago that is also not made by Bioware. So, again, why insist that Bioware - a studio that for decades has been renowned for its interactable, romanceable companions who are a big part of stories they tell - be like that one action RPG, only because they chose its combat to be more action'y? People play Bioware game specifically for there to be more than a button to kiss someone; to experience well-realized characters with whom they can interact and affect their storylines. If you don't care about it - fine, but it's you who are an outlier in insisting that things that were basically always important in BW games are secondary to combat - which is a thing they change in basically every DA chapter.
