Some is saying that Mark Darrah said somewhere that the game has gone gold (I don't really care finding the source sorry). and pause is still in the game...probably stronger then in Inquisition really given how poorly implemented it was in Inquisition.
Has anyone seen a video where combat is paused and the camera gets moved around?
BioWare high level Warrior combat demo, they go into the wheel which pause the game and spin the camera 360 degree to check around the battlefield at some point. You can't move it away from you character thought.

I assume camera won't be free floating like it was in Inquisition (which was big reason it sucked so much) but will swivel depending on the locked on target.

I can more than understand people not liking the visual style for DAV. However, a phrase I've heard that I never understood (for those critical of the games looks) is the use of the term "generic" in describing the game. If you want to say its too flat, or too smooth, maybe even too cartoonish, I get it. But "generic" implies it's just standfare without standing out noticeably from other design styles. That doesn't - to me - seem to be the case. I would argue what's generic is continuing to use the more photo-realistic styles of most modern RPG's. I don't hate that style, mind you, and I think it's the safest/serviceable option for most people (visually speaking). Had DAV went with this art style, a sizable amount of its art design critiques would probably not exist. But it would then be another RPG using the generic photorealistic art style. I agree about DAVe not looking generic, but more realistic art style can still look interesting, tbh. I think it really depends more on the setting rather than art style itself. A fantasy game can look fairly unique even with photorealistic style because there is more room to get creative. Absolutely. The recent Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game that I played is a great example of this.

My issue is more that the art direction looks like it's worked on by different design teams, although I lack the terminology and expertise to accurately put those feelings into words. But best I can describe it as, I mostly like the character models, they have this painterly vibe to them that I dig, but then I compare them to the monster designs, or the background, and they all feel slightly different from each other. Contrast this with, say, Breath of the Wild, which uses cell shading and complements the character models with impressionist background art.
Hm... leaning towards agreement on this..
If Bio can make Baldy then they can surely make Bellara look like an Elf instead of a cartoon face. In front of me I see are two Elves from two different species. Or, Bellara had plastic surgery gone bad. Varric remains Varric and Harding is a beauty and so is Morrigan.... the art style is visually different with B. A mystery why Bio went this route.
It will be interesting to see if this CC can make the Inquisitor's face match individual's expectations. It's supposed to be superior to that of DAI. Given what I know, that will be a very difficult task.

I've never seen Bellara as cartoonish compared to the others, other than maybe her bun. The only one where I could see that argument is Emmrich, but honestly that seems more about him being older and having a more textured face than everyone else.
I do think Bellara's outfit is overdesigned, however.

Mostly it's the oversized cheekbones and very narrow chin. If ever there is a V face, that's B. Mind, So can Taash. I can't sync the giantess, the face and the voice. Blame it on my memories of the Arishok, I guess.
But, hey, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

To hit a few things at once,
All classes can wear all armor types with a specific caveat that certain specific items are class restricted (you can actually see this when people scroll over certain nodes on the tree for each class that have armor type requirements).
Yes, I have lots of vacation planned but I will be around for launch. And yes, years of working on the same thing can cause some burnout but I've played through the full game probably about 8 times in the last few months and it's still fun (though some of the specific levels that haven't changed in a long time I've done 50+ times easily and I could do without ever seeing them again 😂).
My hope is actually that I can stream the game and talk mechanics with fans, there is a lot to sync and I absolutely adore talking design specifics. Still TBD but I'll certainly let the fine people here know first 😉

Third off..must say its going to be interesting not going to watch any Streams or Lets Plays of the game until after I do my first run through it by myself so as not to be 'spoiled' too badly but I also really think I now have at least three YouTubers/ streamers I want to watch of the game after I am done. I am going to drive my wife so crazy playing through it more then once back to back and then watching multiple people play it at the same time...depending on where you post it. But I would love to see it.

Well you see, when Mr. Bioware flipped the switch on the Frostbite Machine from MP back to SP, he forgot to turn the Tighten Up the Graphics dial from Cartoony to Super Real. If only he hadn't used up all the Character Creator RAM removing the lady curves he might've noticed his blunder!
