Mine "shipped" on the 24th but it's still not in possession of UPS
Only label created, no tracking yet
Mine left Portland, Oregon yesterday morning at 3:00 am, scheduled for delivery by tomorrow evening.
If you want a sneak peak: Ghil Dirthalen posted her unboxing on her YouTube channel. It's an hour long video. Yeah, its been 10 years, but the quality seems better than the DAI Collector's Edition.
It's going to be a tough decision to step away from the game when the doorbell rings!

Omg I'm in Salem. The idea that there are Rooks coffers being shipped just an hour away from me.

Posted on 22nd but still somewhere on the way. My Vyrantium edition was posted on 28th and is at least arrived to Finland. I wouldn't hold my breath that I get either this week.
Just finished Trespasser and I know it might take years until I'll play it again. I feel kind of empty and sad 😔 And same time over joyed that Veilguard is under 19 hours away 😅
The game has been streaming for a couple of days now on Twitch.
I meant that normal gamers/forum posters in some places I visit are getting their own copies and started to play and make comments. It's easy to avoid Twitch, not so much random comments in forums.

Michael Gamble @gamblemike The Technical Director for Veilguard told me that IF you somehow get a PS5Pro early, and if you have up to date system software for it...the launch version of Veilguard will have the Pro enhancements.
I honestly never thought Bioware games had an amazing story. They are usually a pretty cliche thing. But what's important is how that cliche is presented and experienced. On that front Bioware usually nails it.
Edit: For example HZD has a great story, but the execution in how we go through it is kinda lacking.
Not to break this one off -then again why not, we're all just GOING THE F*CK NUTS HERE anyways after all- but what is an "amazing" story then?
Usually what we mean by that is, intellectually challenging and confronting us with familiar concepts in an unfamiliar way. And then, we feel things.
I'm just genuinely wondering right now how we make that seperation - between an amazing story that we like, and an... unamazing story that we like. Is it basically embarassment? Like how we wished we hadn't enjoyed that episode of Love Island as much as the latest Christopher Nolan movie?
At their best, Bioware make fun adventure stories, and their writing has never really taken risks or shown any extraordinary attention to craft. Which is also true of The Witcher 3 or Baldur's Gate 3 in my book. The best writing in games, for me, is still in small indie games that are all about the writing.
On the other hand... even fun adventure stories are hard to do well, and I do think there is a widespread societal tendency to look down on simple enjoyment of things, and I don't gel with that. So I don't like it either when fiction is split into "serious stuff we take seriously" and "silly stuff you're only allowed to enjoy apologetically or ironically."
Like, I really liked The Lighthouse and The Banshees of Inisherin, but I also really liked Honor Among Thieves? And something about saying the latter's trashy and worth less because it's just a silly adventure comedy doesn't sit right with me.
Admittedly, I'm pickier with books than with movies and video games, but that's because writing is what a book is all about and because books are a much bigger investment in time and effort.

I am so, SO happy that Honor Among Thieves is picking up steam long after release, proving just how good it is - a fun romp that is done well basically all the way through that I can easily watch and enjoy at basically any time (there are many things I love, but I have to be in a proper mood to engage with them).
Even though it's mostly funny and lighthearted, it has just enough impactful/emotional moments that it can actually make a person suddenly find themselves in a room full of cut onions, and I don't hear much complaining that it's too 'light' despite not really delving into much blood or gore or dull color palette.

Maybe we CAN contain multitudes!! Who would've thought?
Yeah, I agree. When I think of genuinely boundary pushing narratives in games, I think of the Return of Obra Dinn or Disco Elysium or maybe even Pentiment. But Dragon Age is my 'sparks joy' series and I wouldn't have it any other way.

This Halloween, let Emmrich and Manfred guide you through the blighted lands of Thedas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This artwork by @massiveface is so killer, it's bringing the dead back to life.
If you’re a Dragon Age fan, stay tuned for more artwork coming your way in celebration of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Dragon Age (Instagram) It's almost Halloween, and Emmrich's voice actor, @nickboraine is all-in on gothic horror. 👻 But how else is he like his character in #DragonAge: The Veilguard?

I hope so. It looks great, but the complaints weren't really about the powers and gameplay mechanics directly. The gripes were about stale enemies. The reviews I watched said that the gameplay feels great at first; but you gradually realize that every enemy (excepting dragons) has essentially the same gameplay loop. Rook becomes so powerful, and the enemies so boring, that it's easiest to just pick a loadout and power through everything, not bothering to use the cool but unnecessary allies and features.
I don't know if this will be my feeling, but it makes a lot of sense. I hope to enjoy it, and I'm still excited to play.
As the person who did all the balance, I will say that if you are comprehending how to make a cohesive build and understand the combat mechanics, you should play on Underdog. One of the downsides to having a lot of power growth vectors is the difference between people who engage vs those that don't becomes a chasm quite quickly. If you start blowing enemies up rapidly, turn up the difficulty (or play on nightmare where that will not be the case) - basically if it ever feels super easy or like enemies are health sponges you're probably on the wrong setting for your skill level. The custom difficulty settings are there to make the gameplay enjoyable (for whatever that means to you).
Thanks for this. I can only imagine the challenges involved in developing a game to be played by both "filthy optimizers" like myself and "casuals". We're experiencing the same story (more or less), the same environments, etc... but that chasm created by differing levels of system mastery really makes it a different game.
I always appreciate the efforts involved in trying to make the game universally accessible and enjoyable. Developers are really getting good at it, in recent years, with a broader selection of difficulties and "custom difficulty" settings that allow personalization of the challenges.
I can't wait to jump in tomorrow morning. I'll start on "Hard", or whatever it will be called, and then move to "Nightmare" as soon as I feel like I've learned the right things. (That's usually during my second or third day of play).
Ashe's character creator video showed better looking faces than those from the Vailguard trailers. Granted she took her time but this shows me there's hope with my upcoming effort to come up with the avatar I want. Though, one can only do so much with poor starting material.
Tomorrow is trick 'n treating. I anticipate the game will still be downloading when the kiddies show up. But that's OK. By the time the show is over I will be tackling the CC for quite a while. Patience, as we all should know, is a virtue.... I pray I have virtue.

Next year I want to go all in on treats during Halloween. Things are too hectic for me this month to enjoy it, but I want to be that secret individual only the cool kids know who gives out large and king-sized Halloween treats. It might suck to walk up three flights of steps, but your ass if getting PAID.

think next year want to do something fully VG related, hopefully by then I'll have a cannon Rook look to imitate.

CEO Andrew Wilson, speaking to investors in Q2 2025 earnings call, mentioned that early critics scores are strong and believes DA4 has "breakout capabilities". Hm... EA appears to be excited. Maybe aRPGs (non live servcie) may still be around in 2030.
On a side note, Mark Darrah mentioned that DAI sold a lifetime 12M copies.
