I will say the devs seem to be pretty quiet since launch hence not a lot of fresh meat for here specifically. If I were a dev I'd be pretty despondent if a game I worked on for a decade that a virtually bug-free, stable, and all-around solid release was given this shitty reception. That being said it's probably cause they don't want to put themselves at risk. Some fucking crazy people. Naw, I'm going to have to bring some IRL stuff now - it's because on November 5th an important election happened and I know at least a few devs who were chatty before, announced that they won't be talking about the game for some time after that. Also, the Twitter decay and current exodus is really taking shape - and during previous releases the devs were mostly active on Twitter. Now their presence is much more fragmented with what happened/happens to that platform, never mind that the state of all other social platforms (filled mostly with slop, bots and those farming engagement) is pretty bad right now.

In that scene, certainly. I just don't think Ali Hillis is particularly great as a VA, but didn't want to be one of those rude, online critics. In my opinion, she frequently fails to give a natural delivery of her lines. She emphasizes the wrong word in a sentence, gets the speed or cadence wrong, etc... That's just my opinion. I think Harding is well written. I think she's merely adequately acted. I've heard that a couple of times myself. I'm not sure it's fair to solely blame an actor, though. They're always getting their individual lines out of context. If a particular word needs to be emphasized, someone ought to tell them that. Yeah, it's tricky. I've heard that BioWare's method is particularly challenging. Some actors still crush it, though. Most of the cast from every game manage to nail it. 🤷🏻♂️

We know that many of the devs already left and there are a lot more avenues on SM. And like six of one half dozen of the other but people are talking about the game, and positively, regardless. Just that it's going to take people a hot minute to finish and a lot of even pretty friendly places are inundated with personal attacks against people who have finished. Plus I mean I'm not sure how many people will talk about the game. No DLC, unlikely to be minor expansions through patches, no new news to keep people engaged. Nothing till the next ME drops in 2026 at the earliest. Though I'll likely be playing VG till May.

Yeah, I have seen some people say some truly disgusting things about the devs (especially Corinne and Trick, unsurprisingly, since some of the backlash is just naked transphobia) and every Twitter post the official Dragon Age account makes is flooded with negative responses. I can't blame the individual developers for not wanting to engage with any of that, especially right after the U.S. election.

Just release broken games and people will be fine as long as the vibes are good.

I've definitely noticed even the official socials no longer post everything to Twitter. They're still posting fluffy harmless official videos like "things to do in Dock Town" or more shenanigans with the VAs on their tumblr or Instagram accounts that just don't go on Twitter anymore - it's simply too toxic and clearly no longer worth it.

That's the thing that always gets me - these people will hurl the most abhorrent, disgusting abuse at the dev team, often resorting to targeted personal attacks and just outright hatred, then when the devs take steps to distance themselves from said abuse, the people perpetuating it start claiming they 'can't take criticism'.
"The tone of the dialogue often took me out of the moment and wasn't at all fitting for the subject matter of the scene" - perfectly valid example of criticism.
"Your writers are trash I hope your woke ass company is shut down" - utterly pointless.

I took another look at the early concept art for the game. Considering the types of companions we could have in our roster, I feel like BioWare should consider having less of our companions be romance options. It would open up opportunities for us to have more unique companions accompanying us, rather than always needing to look human to make them more personable. It doesn't even have to mean to you have less romances. Just make them non-companion NPC romances like the previous games.

It's a beautiful stable polished bug free experience. reloaded once for a blight zit not showing up at the final battle and that was the only reload for a bug.

I did experience the funniest bug I've ever personally seen in a DA game, where one of the dragons flew majestically into the combat arena and then the model promptly unloaded. This left me to fight an invisible boss with only the targeting reticle to aim at, so she landed on me a lot . But other than a few minor issues with setting vitaar that now seem to have been patched and a single incorrect codex entry (it said I'd made SPOILER CHOICE ONE when I actually did SPOILER CHOICE TWO) it was otherwise totally bug free. Probably the least buggy big RPG I've ever played at launch. (God Origins crashed so many times for me back in 2009, don't get me started on the load times ...)

Like I barely see any people commend just how stable the game is To be fair, game being very stable doesn't matter if the game itself doesn't deliver. If the game delivers a great experience, it being stable is cherry on the top. Most player picked less stable game but a good experience over a stable game but not a very good experience.

Yeah, I have seen some people say some truly disgusting things about the devs (especially Corinne and Trick, unsurprisingly, since some of the backlash is just naked transphobia) and every Twitter post the official Dragon Age account makes is flooded with negative responses. I can't blame the individual developers for not wanting to engage with any of that, especially right after the U.S. election. Doesn't help that even Dragon Age *fans* are historically very cynical people and don't help much in pushing back against the vitriol. Just release broken games and people will be fine as long as the vibes are good. My eye still twitches a little when I hear about how stable the game is for everyone else. TBF, the main was pretty stable for me (3-4 crashes), but the CC crashed on me twice, including once just as I was about to enter the game (lost at least 2 hours). Hrungr was not a happy camper. At least it wasn't as bad as DA:I in the early days!
