I guess I just don't know why they wouldn't take the fan wiki, their internal thing, then think about, then ask their group if that all made sense to them or even find a Let's Play recording online to confirm before building an entire story around it
Too much work.
Failure to keep track of their own works reflects on their game product, imo. . ... shoddy and bug infested at launch (Anthem).
Morpheus: "know what happened happened and that it could not have happened in any other way".
Anthem, a completely new IP, being subpar has nothing to do with not keeping track of their current work. Additionally, as others have already mentioned, no one was saying the DA team totally did this. It was just kinda weird to see Patrick legitimize it. I thought they had the DA bible by now.

"Second, some folks out there are bad actors who will take whatever you say and try to make controversy out of it. For those people, there is nothing you can say that is good - they will always find a way to imply (or state) that you're stupid, or lazy, or racist, or greedy. 6/"
Oh look, it's like this tweet is talking about certain someone...

PW states that they have internal wikis. We know Ben Gelinas was hired to create them. It's what WOT books are based on, among other things. PW said that it's easier for them to check on fan wikis what kind of information or plot points they have released into the wild (public), because some of the stuff in their internal wikis is outdated (and some, I assume, is spoilery). So they add external source to supplement whatever internal sources they use. Cool. Completely uncontroversial.
Also, I'm all for them legitimizing work of fans on wikia. Devs have made comments in the past praising it, but stuff like this means that creators themselves think that information and how it's cataloged there is SOLID to a point where it can be used as point of reference both for fans and creators.

In Your Heart Shall Burn: Ranking Dragon Age’s Companions! - September 14
Dragon Age is filled with many memorable, lovable, even loath-able companions. With our panel, we’re going to gather a team of the best subject experts to accomplish one simple task: rank every single one of them. Hosted by Eric Van Allen and Kenneth Shepard of Normandy FM, this remote panel of industry and subject experts will fight it out, with audience participation playing a role as well. Over the course of our allotted time, we’ll determine the truest hierarchy of Dragon Age companions—or at least, laugh ourselves silly trying.
Eric Van Allen [News Editor, USgamer], Kenneth Shepard [News Writer, Fanbyte], Natalie Flores [Featured Contributor, Fanbyte], Josh Silverman [Co-Founder, Bear Punch Media], Ash Parrish [Staff Writer, Kotaku]

In before this single tweet gets its own thread. It’s hard for me to imagine any 5-word phrase that the BSN would be more excited about than “new Frostbite hair rendering tech”.

Yup, that's exactly why I expect hair talk to begin
If three humans are in the room, there will be six opinions.

Well, to me, it reflects their mental attitude towards producing a solid product.
The fact that Patrick legitimizes this is disturbing. Let's face it, if the Wiki is Bio's source for Lore info, where is the source authority? Where is the accuracy? Who is in charge of this Lore? Does anyone care?

Looking forward to it. Big question is whether this tech will be implemented in DA4.
That is the question...
They've had next-gen hair rendering tech videos out for over a year now, so I'm assuming this is a refinement on that. And as arvaarad said, given that "better hair" is like... in the Top 3 on the Fandom's wishlist , it would be a big marketing win. And at least DA4 won't have to worry about being cross-gen.

We have a person for this yes. I think what Patrick was probably alluding to is that sometimes it's easier to google 'Dragon Age [thing]' for a very quick answer instead of digging in to the details - where it lives internally doesn't have a search tool as ...effective... as google's imo . They (writers) will rely on internal stuff when they actually need a fact rather than just a 'what's the [thing] again?' type lookups.
Personally, it is quicker for me to just type 'dragon age origins warrior talents' if I'm looking to pull a name or description, for example, rather than digging in to documents from previous titles.

It's also ironic since my character will likely have a buzz cut...maybe.
Well, it's a good thing they're also working on next-gen leg & nostril hair physics...
Unironically, games could do with better leg hair physics (assuming they’ve got characters with exposed leg). It’s a really key aesthetic feature of legs, IMO. Softens the outline a little.
