1) I was more in the Alliance for the werewolves and space goats
For some reason, I sometimes accidentally imagine Draenei whenever I have to think about what Qunari look like, at least the females.
they do have the horns don't they?
To be fair, if you search for Qunari images online...50% of the time you'll find Tieflings instead...sometimes even Draenei
...those three have nothing in common aside from having horns

Matthew Goldman @sergoldman Pixel art is fun but reductionist design is an eternally relevant skill. An ancient legibility exercise: guess who these turned into!
Mike Jungbluth @lightbombmike AHHH! The animation team has had so much cool stuff to show off and review today! I have had so many "OH THAT IS SO AWESOME/GROSS/WILD!" that this is now me after every call.

That's very nice Mike.
You're not going to show anything though.
So it may as well be the Anthem trailer.
Very pretty, but not real.
When I die, I want Bioware to carry my casket, so they can let me down, one last time.

Imma say Blackwall, Sera, Cassandra (because of the triangle shape, even though the character seems to be male) and Varric.

None of these look like past characters (well apart from the Warden one and that is a pretty generic look) and I've never seen this concept art before. That pale dwarf on the end in strange looking gear could be from Kal-Sharok. Are you sure these aren't possibilities for the future?

I think the implication is that these are concept arts of old characters that were greatly changed in the end product. Hence the use of the term "ancient."
For instance, I think Grog Muffins is correct and Ser Beardsley on the far left is Blackwall, and the elf might be ... Sera? No idea who the hooded dude or the dwarf are, though.

They’re definitely past characters, since the tweet ends with “guess who they turned into”. Can’t do that with characters that haven’t been released yet.

It's not new concept art. It's at least pre-DAI, since Matt Rhodes had it in his blog post in 2013. As for pale dwarf, they used very similar skin tone in concept art of dwarves like this one before:

I thought robe guy might be Anders...because, you know...Warden symbols? and I sorta thought dwarfy was Varric...because of the golden chains
warden-warrior is probably Blackwall... as for elfy...mix between Sera and Merrill maybe, seeing as Merrill's first concept arts were also pretty wild, then again...this elfy is an archer

I feel like I saw this concept art before, but I can't remember where...
I thought I'd seen them before too, but there's a lot of DA concept art out there that is similar to these. Various elements, poses, etc. are mixed, matched, and reused between different pieces. The first Warden's armor obviously get reused quite a bit. Elements from the robed Warden are reused in the Inquisitor's concept art, etc.

I feel like I saw them here, or in the old BSN before, cause I def remember the different shape designs.

We've definitely seen the upper right part of this (the geometric shapes, the colored silhouettes, and the more detailed characters under them). The only issue I have is I don't remember if it was during DAI's marketing or right after DA2 ended and they started talking about things that didn't make it in.
Looking at it more closely now, the Warden could also potentially be Stroud and the figure I thought could have been Cassandra does indeed have the Warden griffons on the shoulders.

It was bugging me, so I did go and find where they had they popped up before.
It was in a talk given by Matt Rhodes discussing concept art. They were created simply as a design talking point. Four characters on the screen at the same time - how do you differentiate them? The Grey Warden kinda morphed into Blackwall, but that was it.
Jon Renish @jonrenish There has never been a better time to invest in the Lyrium market.
LOL... Do you suppose that's because lyrium is about to become worthless? DA4 heroes crash the Chantry oligarchy by buying up all the lyrium just before the Veil falls, rendering lyrium useless.

Heh. I assume the joke had to do with the recent kerfuffle over GameStop’s stock price and Redditors pushing it up as high as possible to screw over some hedge funds.
Heroes of Dragon Age @heroesofda 2* Autumn proves that sometimes the goodest boy is, in fact, a girl. Rumor has it she is descended from the Hero of Ferelden's mabari, or perhaps was a gift from the Hawke family. Now available in the Champion catalog!
Nunzio DeFilippis @ndefilippis Amazing to see our little girl #AutumnTheMabari in @heroesofda! Very excited to try to get her so she can travel with Vaea and Ser Aaron! #DragonAge
In this video (which I don't believe has been posted here before), David Lam (Bioware) & Olga Kotyukh (Sperasoft) talk about Sperasoft's work on DA:I for BioWare. I thought it was interesting as we don't know a lot of specifics about the companies BW outsources work to, and what they do. I'm only partially through it myself, but here it is:
Key topics include how their teams dealt with change and the pros and cons of a 3 year development cycle. Additional areas include the clear definition of team roles, Frostbite integration for high-volume of content, standardized vocabulary for asset production, aligned documentation, backlog planning for uninterrupted production, maintaining a healthy and sustainable working relationship, and a litany of lessons learned along the way.

This update to the game was huge....over 300MB to dl and over 600MB when installed.
