They could also do stories set earlier in the Age. The Orlesian occupation of Ferelden, for example. I think setting it in the years between games can work just fine. Thedas is a big place with plenty going on. You just need to keep an eye on not tripping over any of the games' toes. But, plenty of NPCs could be drawn upon to keep the fans engaged. And if the TV series characters turn out to be popular, there's an easy opportunity for BW to leverage them into future game(s). Having a liked character or two that one may later meet as a companion in a game where player can befriend, have adventures with or even romance them would certainly be a powerful incentive to play the game for quite a few people... Like "no, you don't have to write fanfiction anymore - you can literally play a self-insert and romance your beloved character from that TV show!".

If they have to pick a direction to go in with a show, I'd prefer it to be on the Fritz Lieber & Terry Pratchett end of things rather the GRRM & Robert Jordan end of things.

This makes me think to that the Blight could easily be the focus of the main game series, like the Skyalkers, the Jedi, and the Sith were such a focus for the main Star Wars movies...but look at the success of the Mandalorian. Regarding The Mandalorian, and its spinoff show the Mandalorian Season 2.5------judging the series on its own and not by the incredibly low bar the sequels set, is average at best. It's serviceable content filled with a bunch of cameos and OCs from previous works, but that's it. If a Dragon Age series is made, I'd like it to be more than "Remember Anora? I remember! Remember Alistair? Alistair's so cool. Remember the Tower of Ishal? He's a shot of the Tower!" That's not a captivating series for me, that's --- as that elven sentinel said, "Carrion feasting upon a corpse". I'd like to see a TV adaptation primarily in Nevarra, to see the Grand Necropolis and the Mortalitassi. Or, to see Rivain or Antiva or Starkhaven. Or, if the writers are feeling adventurous: set it on another continent with the same rules and constraints (the inherent danger of magic, religious and cultural conflicts, conflicts between the different species, etc). I don't want an adaptation to essentially re-tread old ground, or touch on storylines even tangentially close to the games, or else you run into very weird narrative choices like we see in the Witcher seasons 1 and 2.

A show would be cool in theory, but I'm still iffy on the connection peripheral media can have to the games. Remember when big stuff that happened in The Masked Empire (burning the alienage, Celine killing Briala's parents etc.) didn't get even a small mention in DAI? I don't want another example of side media being obligatory in order to have all the facts of a situation. IMO it's best to go small and personal, rather than big and expansive (if nothing else, at least try to avoid comparisons to GoT and LotR, obvious inspirations though they are). As for characters crossing over into the games, I was never really happy with how Tallis was integrated into MotA. It was interesting to see her struggle with her role in the Qun and accept it as her life, but she had a case of "main character who's not a main character but isn't she soo cool guys" syndrome.

It took a fraction over 7 months for the ME Twitter thread (back before we had separate threads for tweets and for discussion of) to reach 1000 pages.
Yes, ME has/had a bigger player base and yes, the forum in general was busier in the immediate aftermath of the closure of BSN Prime, but yeah…400 pages between now and when DA4 releases is a lock. Depending on how long the marketing/info push lasts, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get to 1500, personally.

Well, I just couldn't resist. I preordered this glorious recreation with very little hesistation. Hurrah for one of my favorite Dragon Age companions, and favorite Dragon Age romance.
I guess this means I am required to lock him in as my canon romance with absolute certainty.

On reused assets in game series...Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrahSince the original tweet got deleted: The comment was (paraphrased) But there wasn’t much new in DA2 was there? … There is way too MUCH new stuff in DA2. Lack of reuse contributed massively to the scope being so constrained. … you are making my point FOR me. This is infuriating. You should WANT THIS! The more reuse of this kind of stuff, the more that can be spent on NEW things Rebuilding the wheel so that a game isn’t accused of reuse is a PLAGUE on this industry. Yup. I'd learned a few years ago from a former BioWare employee that they often do re-make assets from scratch for every new game and I had to ask them "Isn't that a colossally unnecessary expenditure of time, especially if you're working in the same engine?" To which they agreed. I'm not sure why there are gamers who demand that everything be brand-new. It makes zero sense to me if you want the next installation in a game series to come out quickly. Nor does it make sense for a series set in the same place/time... the architecture should NOT vary wildly from game to game in that sort of scenario. The odd thing is BioWare really hasn't stuck to the same engine too many times. Dragon Age: Origins used Eclipse, Dragon Age 2 used an upgraded Eclipse named Lycium, and Dragon Age: Inquisition used Frostbite. Now Mass Effect 1 to 3 all used Unreal and one of the few times where BioWare seems to have reused assets is Mass Effect 2 and 3. Its why I don't get why the online community has such a hate for Frostbite, if anything you want BioWare to stick with it so they learn it and don't have to go back to square one again and redo everything and also probably recreate a bunch of tools. Going by what I have read about the new GM at BioWare he is the type of guy that is there to keep costs low or cut costs if they are too high, so I am expecting the positions that they are looking for Unreal isn't an indication they are moving back to Unreal for the next Mass Effect game. Instead they are doing something inline that they are using Unreal for such as the mobile tie-in.

Both Andromeda and Inquisition use Frostbite.
A lot of people were not (are not) very happy with Inquisition, and even more seem to straight up despise Andromeda.
Long story short: A fair chunk of the community has no faith in RPGs made on Frostbite.

That is fine and all, but it doesn't mean that its a realistic reason to move to another game engine especially if it wasn't the problem in the first place especially if it would negatively impact development.
