Remember the Hobbit had a pretty troubled shooting, as I recall they had another director first before that one quit and Jackson had to come in to try to save it. While the effects are awful the actors were stellar, and in this regard I think they more or less kept pace with the originals. The actors did what they could with the awful material but it was still a travesty and not a patch on the LoTR trilogy. Too much deviation from the source material. It was a very loose adaptation.

The movies always came out around the Christmas break in the U.K. so when LoTR came out it became a family occasion to go see the next one in the trilogy. So when the Hobbit came out it looked like we could do that again. We only got as far as the 2nd one and then decided not to bother the following year. Not exactly the Christmas treat it had once been. I did catch the last one on TV out of curiosity and profoundly regretted it. So glad we didn't waste money on it at the cinema. I'm not sure it was entirely the fault of Peter Jackson though. There was some other guy directing it who pulled out, so he had to step in a pick up the pieces and by then I think the damage had been done. The studio would never have let him can the whole thing even if he had wanted to. If it had been me though, I'd have walked away the moment I saw the script. The problem with The Hobbit movies is it always felt stretched out to maximize profit instead of making a good movie. First it was only going to be one movie, then it was two and finally three. Filled with extra material that wasn't in the Hobbit book to pad out the running time. That and the Hobbit movies tried too hard to be like the Lord of the Rings movies. Which is understandable, given the Hobbit is a prequel. But at the same time, The Hobbit was a children's book, and the LOTR trilogy was not. They're really aimed at different audiences, and the films tried to homogenize them.

I just tried the "Which villain are you?" quiz and got Loghain. I have to admit there are worse villains on that list and Loghain did help save his country from Orlais. When I spared him, he even volunteered to make the ultimate sacrifice and begged me not to do the deal with Morrigan. The thing is though, I don't quite see how my answers ended up with Loghain, since their description of him as being prepared to do anything to defend his country, even side with the enemy, didn't really match the answers I gave. I didn't say I would do anything to achieve my goals. Also, when did Loghain side with the enemy? So far as he was concerned, the enemy was Orlais. He was obsessive about it. He opposed the Grey Wardens but thought them in league with Orlais and that we weren't experiencing a true Blight. To be fair, the Arch-demon hadn't even surfaced when he was making these decisions, which is usually the sign that a Blight has begun and, whilst the DLC suggests he didn't know what Cailan was up to with regard to Celene, there had been conflict with him over Anora and likely Loghain did know that Eamon was urging him to ditch her. I can only think that my answers saying that family was important to me are the reason I ended up with Loghain. Oh and my favourite pet was a mabari hound. Now that figures. (Bet if I'd said a cat I'd have got Anders - I may try it again to see) EDIT: No I changed a couple of answers, including the one about the cat, and still got Loghain. Interesting. Apparently his favourite place is a library. Who would have thought it? Changed a couple more answers, dropped the library in favour of significant other, refused to state a colour and said I would write an essay in response to the question about good/evil and would do anything to achieve my goals. Now I got Anders.

I got The Architect. Hmm... Never used Twitter before, so the buyout doesn't really affect my social media. While I generally support free speech, I remain skeptical of how much Twitter will change in the long run. I will watch and wait. As for Tom Bombadill, while I do agree he clashes with LOTR's overall tone and drags the pacing, I'm still glad of his inclusion. A nice bit of whimsy and mystery that makes all of the later "innocence lost" emotional gut punches that much harder.

I got Anders, and now I'm questioning a lot of things about myself Same. I said I had a Mabari, damn it. Is it cus I said I had family? WTF to the color choice? … it was the 100 page good and evil essay, wasn’t it? Edit: and since I haven’t put in my two cents on the twitter thing, I just gotta say: if Musk sticks to making it an even field with clear terms of service that are actually applied evenly, transparently, and don’t deplatform people for having iconoclastic or stupid ideas, then I think it’s great. As long as no American laws are being broken, I think people should be able to say whatever they want on an American platform.* If they say something stupid, then you can call them that and say why for everyone to see. When it comes to legit arguments, you don’t actually win if you muzzle the other side, you just leave any reconcilable differences unresolved. Which is a recipe for absolute painful disaster in the long run. (*and please remember that threats, incitement to violence, varying degrees of harassment, child porn and other awfulness are indeed illegal under American law)

… it was the 100 page good and evil essay, wasn’t it? I reckon so, although I also said I had a family and WTF to colour choice when I got him. To be honest, I think there is probably one or possibly two definitive answers that get you a particular villain and the rest is just irrelevant padding when it comes to that person but, of course, it changes for each one so it is difficult to pin down what the essential answers are for each one. At present I am trying to get Solas but ended up with the Architect. What sort of colour do you think Solas favours? EDIT: Done it. It only took me 3 goes to get Solas; first two I got the Architect both times (apparently the library may have been significant in getting him but not essential for Solas). Not sure what answer swung it for me but I said he had a dragon for a pet. (Solas that is, not the Architect. I got him when I said I had none).

How’d they get a fen’harel statue out of sims 4? Just straight texture modding or did they have to turn a dog model into a statue first?

Nick Thornborrow @nthornborrow Today is my last day at BioWare. If I'd stayed another two weeks, I'd have been there for 15 years which... How? I'm so grateful for these past 14.96153846 years, and in particular the last few doing story art. And I'm still not sorry for putting that wolf jaw necklace on Solas.

personally I find the description of the new Solas print merch to be quite interesting: ''The description is very interestink, very interestink indeed... '' THE REDEEMER HAS ARRIVEDA heretic, a betrayer of clans, a destroyer, or a redeemer; whatever you want to call Solas, you cannot deny his relentless resolve to bring back all of Elven land to its past glory. A companion to the inquisitor, he whispered words of wisdom and his endearing embrace (at least to his female companion). But times have changed and with the events not turning out the way they should have, the humble elf has had to reveal himself as the elven god Fen'Harel, The Dread Wolf. The great betrayer is back to accomplish his prophetic mission of protecting the elven people from internal war and civil strife, tearing down the veil, and rectifying his past trials. This vibrant canvas print captures the Dread Wolf deep in thought. His devilishly calm visage and royal regalia steer away from his pedestrian apprentice armor. And while you lose yourself in his gold ornamented crest and the green halo, his malevolent mind plays tricks on yours. Through the canvas and across the realms, this Dread Wolf bewitches the beholder. The stretched canvas is spread over a ¾” wood frame. Hang it in your gaming dungeon or living room as you prepare yourself to confront the agents of Fen'Harel and the elven lord himself.'' gear.bioware.com/products/dragon-age-dreadwolf-canvas-print

Nick Thornborrow @nthornborrowIt's been a pretty emotional week saying goodbye, but change is good in this case. I'm excited about what's up next, which I'll talk about in a couple weeks after I've had a chance to decompress a bit. John Epler @eplerjcCan't overstate the impact you've had on the game, the IP and the studio. I'll miss working with you, but that's a long time to work on any single franchise. Best of luck with whatever you do next. I know you'll crush it. You were one of the first people I ever got to work with at BioWare. No matter what else, we'll always have that bush in Central City. Nick Thornborrow @nthornborrowI thought we’d agreed what happens in Central City STAYS in Central City. Joking aside, you’re awesome, and I’m going to miss working with you. I’ll definitely never forget those early days in that weird remote corner of old BioWare. Mary Kirby @biomarykirbyWe'll all miss you, and I know beyond a doubt that whatever you do next will be amazing. Allan Schumacher Felt like 6 years tops I bet! Jay Ingram (Charlemagne) @jaykingingramAll the best, Nick! Jen Cheverie Cott 💙@jencheverieNick it was so great to work with you!! So sad to see you go but wishing you AMAZING things!! ''The description is very interestink, very interestink indeed... I've pulled up a picture of the print because the broach he is wearing intrigues me. Has he worn this before? As this is official mechandise, do you think the artist was using an accessory that Solas will be using in future? Also, why are his garments becoming increasingly more ornate? Wasn't he meant to be playing down the god aspect? So now he's in royal regalia?

gervaise21Now you probably know the lore better then I do...well no you do...so you may know more to render a lot of what I say moot, but I think him portraying himself as a simple hermit was very much his mindset in Inquisition. But I do not think this implies he will keep that way. That being said I have a couple of thoughts on the matter and well some of them are expressing similar amounts of 'huh'. But this also has to keep in mind Solas has always been about perception and well he is 'Pride' afterall. 1. This is 'for the people'. The people and the Elves he is around expect the God...or at least a bright shining figure to lead them into battle (since it just occurs to me what if he is pretending to be one of the other Elven Gods here?). But that this audiciousness is to inspire the Elves who ally with him and give them what they expect. 2. This is for his enemies. He is dressing like a typical gaudy mage-king would dress. Either to intimidate, look the part, or just give his enemies a target. 3. This is a sign of some futher corruption. Since it is speculated he might be corrupted (even further ) by Mythal, the Dread Wolf, or Red Lyrium, this could be another outward sign of that. 4. If it is for the people though unless what I said above is true and he is pretending to be Elgarnan or Mythal or another source then him going out and out as the Dread Wolf I cannot see a lot of the people he seeks to court as thinking that as a good thing that they want to serve. Afterall the Dread Wolf is as close to the devil as there can be at least in Dalish Lore...and I do not think Ancient Elves would be just as happy at his presence given what he did to the gods. So yeah actually the more I work through it the more I think this is an indication that he is not presenting as Fen'Harel here. 5. If this is for his enemies it runs rather contrary to what he has done before in the past. He has tried to blend in. This indicates a more 'come and get me' mentality. Sure he is a powerful mage but no one can confuse this with anything else other then a powerful mage.

What demonstrates why I don't like how things are reported in gaming news is that because there is some attachment to BioWare they are part of every headline. They don't even bother to mention the name of the actual company (Keywords Studios) just BioWare. It just shows that being accurate doesn't matter, but getting people to click on an article is the most important thing of all. At least the second article you linked mentions contractors, but still have BioWare and leaves out Keywords Studios.

gervaise21Now you probably know the lore better then I do...well no you do...so you may know more to render a lot of what I say moot, but I think him portraying himself as a simple hermit was very much his mindset in Inquisition. Both his cloak clasp and his broach have wolf heads, so probably not pretending to be a different god/evanuris. None of the others are associated with wolves right?
