What demonstrates why I don't like how things are reported in gaming news is that because there is some attachment to BioWare they are part of every headline. They don't even bother to mention the name of the actual company (Keywords Studios) just BioWare. It just shows that being accurate doesn't matter, but getting people to click on an article is the most important thing of all. At least the second article you linked mentions contractors, but still have BioWare and leaves out Keywords Studios. so in other words not bio just a company they work with? Yeah. The way I have read the Notice by the Alberta Labour Relations Board posting on Reddit is that the union application is being done by an unit of Keywords Studios employees that are employed in development support at the BioWare office in Edmonton. So to me that means they are Keywords Studios employees that are currently located at the BioWare offices, but not BioWare employees. Here is the link to the notice Unionization NoticeNow maybe I am in the wrong with my claims, but even leaving out Keywords Studios to me seems misleading.

gervaise21Now you probably know the lore better then I do...well no you do...so you may know more to render a lot of what I say moot, but I think him portraying himself as a simple hermit was very much his mindset in Inquisition. But I do not think this implies he will keep that way. That being said I have a couple of thoughts on the matter and well some of them are expressing similar amounts of 'huh'. But this also has to keep in mind Solas has always been about perception and well he is 'Pride' afterall. 1. This is 'for the people'. The people and the Elves he is around expect the God...or at least a bright shining figure to lead them into battle (since it just occurs to me what if he is pretending to be one of the other Elven Gods here?). But that this audiciousness is to inspire the Elves who ally with him and give them what they expect. 2. This is for his enemies. He is dressing like a typical gaudy mage-king would dress. Either to intimidate, look the part, or just give his enemies a target. 3. This is a sign of some futher corruption. Since it is speculated he might be corrupted (even further ) by Mythal, the Dread Wolf, or Red Lyrium, this could be another outward sign of that. 4. If it is for the people though unless what I said above is true and he is pretending to be Elgarnan or Mythal or another source then him going out and out as the Dread Wolf I cannot see a lot of the people he seeks to court as thinking that as a good thing that they want to serve. Afterall the Dread Wolf is as close to the devil as there can be at least in Dalish Lore...and I do not think Ancient Elves would be just as happy at his presence given what he did to the gods. So yeah actually the more I work through it the more I think this is an indication that he is not presenting as Fen'Harel here. 5. If this is for his enemies it runs rather contrary to what he has done before in the past. He has tried to blend in. This indicates a more 'come and get me' mentality. Sure he is a powerful mage but no one can confuse this with anything else other then a powerful mage. Both his cloak clasp and his broach have wolf heads, so probably not pretending to be a different god/evanuris. None of the others are associated with wolves right? its the biggest hole in the argument to be sure however this is still the Wolf associated Elven god who wore a wolf fang on his robes in Inquisition so it's not beyond the realm of possibility...and that talisman didn't draw comment from anyone in the game either.

Yeah, Bioware doesn't have in-house QA, they use contractors. Keywords Studios are working for Bioware in an outsourcing capacity, Bioware is essentially their client.

Okay, let's cover the answers point by point, remembering that this is official merchandise that they suggest: "Hang it in your gaming dungeon or living room as you prepare yourself to confront the agents of Fen'Harel and the elven lord himself." So they are suggesting we use this as a visual reference as we play DA4. Now it may be they are talking up their product without any knowledge of what is appropriate to the game world. Since Bioware have told us so little, the idea that we are going to be confronting agents of Fen'Harel in addition to Solas is not a given. We can assume as much but that is all. Thus, this artist's representation may be just how they see him rather than having real significance. That said: 1. The people around him do not expect this. It was quite clear in his sanctuary that his followers were impressing on newcomers that Fen'Harel is not a god. However, to maintain his aura of mystery, menace and likely disguise his real identity, when he appeared before them he is depicted as wearing a wolf headdress that obscures his face. He likely also adopted this guise when leading them into battle, as opposed to the humble wanderer who moved among the subjects of the Evanuris persuading them to his cause. His enemies called him the Dread Wolf, which he then took as a way of intimidating their followers and inspiring his own. Nothing in anything either his opponents or Solas says about himself is it ever suggested that he depicts himself as a king or wants other people to see him that way. His statues and pictures always show him as a wolf. The Dalish expect to see him as a Wolf/God. So why would he change that? 2. This is for his enemies. He is dressing like a typical gaudy mage-king would dress. Either to intimidate, look the part, or just give his enemies a target. See my above comments which apply equally today as they did in ancient times. I think the Mortalitasi found the dragon/wolf intimidating enough in the Fade, so keeping to the old wolf headdress in the Waking World would be sufficient if he needed more than the armour he wore in Trespasser. By now the word should have got around and if his opponents still do not take him seriously, I doubt a few gaudy robes are going to make a difference. Ditto providing them with a target. 3. This is a sign of some futher corruption. Since it is speculated he might be corrupted (even further ) by Mythal, the Dread Wolf, or Red Lyrium, this could be another outward sign of that. I suppose it is just possible that Mythal is having a bad influence on his fashion sense. The wolf skull was a give away once you knew who he was but until then you had to know it was a wolf skull in the first place and then assume it had any significance beyond the hermit liking it as a fashion accessory. Cloak clasps and a broach depicting wolf heads is a bit more obvious if you are trying to pass for someone else. Otherwise, I could see it as another of his "guises" to fool his enemies. In which case, I would favour either a faction of ancient elves, the Executors (who may or may not be ancient elves) and know about the Wolf or possibly a Tevinter cult like the Venatori, who do seem to be impressed by the gaudy and ostentacious. With this latter group it may not be so much to hide his identity as to give them an appearance they expect from a powerful god such as Fen'Harel. 5. If this is for his enemies it runs rather contrary to what he has done before in the past. He has tried to blend in. This indicates a more 'come and get me' mentality. Sure he is a powerful mage but no one can confuse this with anything else other then a powerful mage. See the above comments. It is likely to be intended for specific groups rather than his enemies generally. I would be really disappointed if he turned up looking like this to confront our new hero. The Dread Wolf from the trailer was far more sinister looking and more in keeping with what we know of Solas' general style. If I want a visual reference when playing the game then the image I would go for is this: I think the outfit under the cloak is the same/similar to the one in the trailer. Now this Fen'Harel is scary. The other one just looks like a member of a glam rock band of the 70's.

DA4 fans, become part of the Solis Army ...
Well, the veil's gettin' thin and you want some fun Do you think you're gonna find it? (Think you're gonna find it) You got to treat yourself like forgotten ones Do you need to be reminded? (Need to be reminded)
It doesn't matter what you do or say Just forget the things that you've been told We can't do it any other way Everybody's got to cast their spells, oh-oh
Cast it, cast it, cast without blood Cast it, cast it, cast without blood
If you don't feel strong and you can't get laid Don't sit there broken hearted (Sit there broken hearted) Call all your spirits in the fade And get the party started (Get the party started)
Don't let 'em tell you that there's too much red lyrium They're too young to really understand You'll still get rowdy with the Orlesians and Imperium 'Cause it's time for you to unleash the damned, yeah, yeah
Cast it, cast it, cast without blood Cast it, cast it, cast without blood
Cast it, cast it, cast without blood You got to have a party Cast it, cast it, cast without blood Turn a nug into a hamster
Cast it, cast it, cast without blood And everybody cast a spell now Cast it, cast it, cast without blood Oh yeah Cast it, cast it, cast without blood
The veil is gettin' thinner Cast it, cast it, cast without blood And everybody cast a spell now Cast it, cast it, cast without blood

Playing MKB is very frustrating for anything other than mage class, which thankfully is always my default in these sorts of games. They have to do better than this for DA4. I don't want to be the bunny hopping idiot I was in DAI. Hopping all over Skyhold, hopping to the war room, because my god I'm walking too slow otherwise. Sigh. I really do hope for a good DA game this time. DA2 has become a little less disappointing over time, simply because it is novel in many respects and for the time allotted it is quite successful overall despite so many shortcuts. Still, it isn't a great DA game, but it is good. Same for DAI, but the MMORPG elements in a SP game were a bad idea that I also hope isn't repeated. Asking BioWare to learn from their mistakes at this point is nearly a lost cause. The institution remembers, but the members of the institution barely do. They can only learn from the mistakes of their predecessors to the extent that BioWare's new management can artfully use as motivation and that EA allows them to. Outlook is cloudy.

Ah yes, made “by PC players, for PC players”….that use controllers. KB&M users must wait until patch 3 for a walk bind button so that we can enjoy the beautiful environments created. Better than CP2077…only just got that with build 1.5, but whataboutism isn’t really my bag. I learned to deal with DAIs KB&M controls, but they never felt natural, even as I became accomplished. If we are indeed headed in a more action oriented direction of game design, I hope that the control system every PC player has is considered more strongly during development.

The shards were frustrating but the prize for stupid for me was the retrieving the halla statues quest. They put one of them in the rafters, where you don't immediately think to look for something, make it absurdly difficult to get at (I can't speak for consoles but it was frustrating on PC) and then put the whole damn thing on a timer! I have never uttered so much profanity whilst I was playing a computer game as I did with DAI and the various gathering inaccessible objects quests.

As someone who have a few hundreds hours on PS4 (I got a big stinky eye from my friends when the video about the personalyzed most played game on PS4 came out) the Halla statue is just as annoying on console. Is my biggest rage moment in DAI. Aside maybe some stuff in Trespasser. Still couldn't get the stuff over the gazebo thing after many playthrought. I love jumping, I love more flexibility in movement in the world, but DAnext need to either go for better mobility, or stick to better, even if limited, level design.

Honestly BioWare has never learned from their mistakes they have always just scrapped everything and started over. Which is one mistake I still haven't seen them learn from.

Hey I want to interact with that item. <jumps> tries to open the box <jumps> <jumps> <jumps> I give up and move on. Honestly BioWare has never learned from their mistakes they have always just scrapped everything and started over. Which is one mistake I still haven't seen them learn from.
The worse offense, imo, is having an achievement that requires a control they forgot to put in for KB/M. I'm talking about Hang Time in MEA. A friggin' mod is required to get it. Unless you want to swap out your hardware and learn a completely new set up just for that.

I had to ask friend to borrow her XBox controller just for that achievement

To me ME:A perfected the jumping from DA:I. The good ol jump then dash combo was what got me by in those hard to reach areas.

A bit off topic, but KrrKs has a mod on Nexus that can fix that for you ... It's how I got my hangtime achievement, without purchasing/borrowing a controller. And yes, pretty lame BioWare ... but, despite its many flaws, Anthem showed that BioWare can properly develop M+KB settings ... If they try ... you know, like for DA4.

I guess that does show BioWare can grow and improve for looking back the problems I had with Inquisition weren't the same ones I had with Anthem, that was a completely different set of issues.

As someone who started playing the series on console and eventually moved on to PC I do understand the frustration. There are many times the targeting is wonky because it was obviously made for a thumbstick rather than a mouse, and the design choice to limit active abilities to 8 in DAI does remove a lot of the fun and seems to be a console concession. I'm hoping the game goes back to being more strategic again rather than action oriented, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

My problem with DAI's control was only having eight active skills, and to use a ninth, you had to "forget" one of the others.
"Well I learned Whirlwind, but it's seems I'm so stupid that learning that move caused me to forget how to Pommel Strike..."
