Lace Harding - Official Companion Thread [Spoilers]

Yes this is the one thing I am really hopefull will be in the game. She is a great character and we have never had a Dwarf romance. Since I always play a Dwarf when givin a chance I want a Dwarf option please!!

At the end of Trespasser, the Inquisitor says they need people that Solas doesn't know, and he's built a pretty good profile of Harding's personality, capabilities and tactics. I wouldn't mind if the Inquisitor was a secondary playable character (like Ciri in The Wild Hunt), but I would rather not be denied a new PC, nor do I want to be railroaded into serving the Inquisition again as Inky's sidekick. Having Harding as a Companion forces us into that role whether we want it or not.

Look, I don't hate Lace, she's a perfectly fine character on her own, agreeable... safe... boring . In Dragon Age 4 we will likely get one female dwarven Companion, and Harding would be at the expense of another that might be more interesting and better fit the game's themes:

-Dagna, Mad Scientist Extraordinaire. I've haven't seen any evidence that she ever personally interacted with Solas, and while his spies might have, she has actual contacts and story hooks to be in Tevinter beyond the Inquisition.

-Valta. Solas might have had limited interaction with her in Descent, but he can't guess how Dwarf Mage Titan Avatar will act .

-A ruthlessly ambitious and pragmatic Ambassidoria type.

-A Silent Sister Proving Champion.

-A Kal-Sharok rogue.

Can I say Harding? I think I’d say Harding.

This all depends on the existence of a DA4, however.

While I think Harding is adorable, I doubt I wish to have a potential dwarven companion slot "taken". Her backstory is very simple and quiet, which is of course no criteria to exclude Lace from the cast, but the more traditional or Kal-Sharok-y female dwarf spot would allow writers and players to explore a completely new trope. I can see Harding instead becoming an advisor as already mentioned. And well, there's always the possibility of having two dwarven ladies on the team

We need to know if she developed her fear of heights from falling out of heaven?

I'd rather Lace Harding not be a companion or LI please.

I will take any and all dwarves BioWare is willing to fork over. Especially if my PC can finally smooch them!

I would definitely like to see another underground dwarf as a companion (especially if they're from the Ambassadoria!) but this could be easily achieved by having Harding and a new dwarf companion. (I know that they normally only give us one per game, but Awakening had two and there's no reason DA4 shouldn't as well.

Seems to have been working for Varric for a good long while, I'm sure he has an effective... oil.

They could break up after seeing how little they actually have in common, deciding they work better as friends. Or they could split over life goals and religion; seriously, how is it fair that Sera refuses to accept Lavellan's Dalish faith, but is perfectly OK with Dagna researching magic and wanting to contact the Titans? Especially after Descent? Their whole pairing seems baffling to me anyway, as the two of them never interact in the base game. Like the writers' wanting someone, anyone to be a couple, drew names from a hat and said "sure, why not" . Oh, and before anyone brings up Bioware's track record of canon lesbian matches, I would argue that they should have had positive couples who actually make sense together in the base game, rather than some last minute, haphazard ending slide. Like having Briala to move on to a better, healthier relationship, instead of allowing even the possibility of reconciling with Celine .

The Inquisition will be involved sure, but it would be better as optional allies rather mandatory, so that the new PC can forge their own identity. I mean, what if I want my new hero to disagree with the Inquisitor on whether to redeem or kill Solas, to seek stability or violent overthrow, don't trust foreigners even remotely connected to the Southern Chantry. or they just don't like them?

Already sharpening my murder knife for that annoying dwarf.
