Harding looks even better ingame. I'm in love. My lesbian dwarf lady will definitely romance her, if I get the game.

This looks like an important & emotional Harding moment aka more than she getting her new magic powers. Lets i would be very surprise if this has nothing to do with Varric.

So Lace has unexpected magical powers now. Ok how and more important why? Right now i would say that i am not a fan from this likely titan powerup she got between DAI and DAV. At least bioware recognized that she's boring and needs something more interesting about her. I still would've rather had an Ambassadoria or Kal-Sharok dwarf. I was rather hoping we could be the Ambassadoria/Kal-Sharok Dwarf as one of our Origin options. But yes, Harding Romance, let's goooooooooooo.

So happy that she was in the trailer. Hoped that she would be in the game, guessed that she would be part of the story going forward but it was still a bit of relief to see her there.

I would've preferred Dagna, but Harding's nice. I have a soft spot for the "ordinary person who earns their place among legends" trope.
Which is why the news that she will gaining powers concerns me. Dwarves being resistant to magic was one of things that made them unique in Thedas. There were so many avenues the writers could have explored, like diversifying Dwarven technology, or the Silent Sister monks, among others. I know Valta opened the door for dwarf mages, but I had hoped that was a Titan specific route. Just one more way Dragon Age is becoming like the kitchen sink fantasy it used to deconstruct.

I don't think there ever was much deconstruction going on. The Dwarves themselves were like textbook Tolkien and the first big bad was a Dragon named 'the arch demon' If anything DA isn't great because it tries to be edgy and different, DA is great because it leans into those fantasy tropes to their natural conclusions.

Maker, she's just so gosh-darned cute. I don't know if my Qunari Rook will settle on her or on Davrin - my current plan is to make the two of them my default companions and then just kind of see what happens - but I know it will be adorable when I do romance her .

So . . . Does Harding's 'unexpected magical powers' come from when you break up Solas' veil thing?
And only happen if you bring her with you? It seems more likely than some Titan connection.
I wonder what could happen to Neve if you bring her instead . . . although as a Mage already it might not matter?
And will Rook also get some special ability from this?

I think Veilguard Harding looks cuter than DA: I Harding. (Though DA:I Harding still looks pretty. ) Still once I begin romancing Harding, I imagine Bram Kenric will react like this:

Is she voice by Ali Hillis? She sounded different from DAI. It's Ali Hillis and it's been 10 years since DAI so recording equipment, voice and even your hearing could impact what you are now hearing.

Weirdly I think there were moments in the gameplay trailer where she sounded more like Liara than she ever did in DAI (as Harding or as the Shaper lady from The Descent).

I wouldn't rule out Dagna showing up, though in a different role (similar to the one in Inquisition? Will she be the one who builds Inquisitor's prosthetic?) Also - we've known, at least since Descent (and it's a theme present in JOH and Trespasser too) that something strange happened to dwarves in the past, related to something happening with Titans (who also may be playing an increasingly important role in the story). Harding wouldn't even be the first dwarf gaining magical powers (that would be Valta in Descent; Dagna has also experienced something strange when studying a rune), so it's basically a continuation of a plot point already present in the storyline.

My girl had quite the glow up in the last decade, despite the shadow war against an ancient elven god.
She's a lock for the team, I think. Even though I'll likely be a rogue for first Rook, they'll definitely be melee focused. Then I'll add in whichever companion mage I like best.

Hmm granted if the comparison holds may make her unromanceble.

I wonder if she and Davrin or a Warden-Background Rook will have some slight tension depending on how the Inquisitor dealt with the Wardens in DAI. Maybe a bit of hard feelings over Adamant?

Harding's dyed her hair, I'm convinced. lol It used to be a tawny, reddish light-brown or auburn, just a couple shades darker than Varric's. Could be the lighting, but in Veilguard she's giving full Femshep ginger might. Which is a good thing in my book. BioWare loooves a redhead, evidently (and so do I). She's looking awesome! Don't know if it's because she feel familiar, but Harding is probably my favorite of all of the companions, atm. I know we're gonna be besties! xD

Don't know if it's because she feel familiar, but Harding is probably my favorite of all of the companions, atm. I know we're gonna be besties! xD I was glad that Varric was the one who said that perhaps he could talk Solas down and Harding disapproved of the idea. Clearly she just thought he should shoot him between the eyes. So, evidently they aren't going to make it seem like you only want to kill Solas if you are a jerk. She always came across as caring and respectful. I seem to recall it was either in the Exalted Plains or in the Emerald Graves where she was recounting what she knew of the area and then she suddenly remembered my Lavellan was Dalish and what the place must mean to them. It was a nice touch from the writers and instantly made me warm to her.

No offence to Harding, but how was she supposed to kill Solas? He probably has a magical barrier up 24/7, never sleeps, can kill anyone, even Dwarves from the Fade, has spies and informants everywhere, and has an army of spirits and demons who can appear with little to no warning to strike. I don't think a plucky attitude will be enough to kill an immortal god-king from ancient times.

No offence to Harding, but how was she supposed to kill Solas? That was my whole beef with the Missing. She and Varric set off to track down Solas but apparently had no idea what they were going to do when they finally caught up with him. They were still discussing the dilemma at the end of the comic and then it turns out they still hadn't come up with anything by the time they did find him in Veilguard. This is apparently 8 years after Trespasser. That's a fair bit of time to consider options, ask Dagna to come up with some special item, consult with various magical experts on the dilemma, etc. I think Harding would have taken a shot but Neve said it would be useless because of the magic in play. Then people are dumping on Rook for interrupting the ritual and releasing two elven gods. Well, that was surely better than letting the Veil come down completely? The fact was no one else had a better idea. He took the initiative in opting to doing something over nothing, which is the sign of a leader. That's not a criticism of Lace because she isn't a leader but she is very good support. Also, my point is that if we do come up with a way of neutralising Solas so he can never present a danger again, Harding won't hold back from doing it.
Incidentally I don't think just leaving him in the Fade will suffice. It is entirely possible the elven gods still found a way to influence the world from there, particularly if it turns out they are the alter ego of the Old Gods, so Solas in the Fade could be just as dangerous potentially as Solas outside it.
