No offence to Harding, but how was she supposed to kill Solas? That was my whole beef with the Missing. She and Varric set off to track down Solas but apparently had no idea what they were going to do when they finally caught up with him. They were still discussing the dilemma at the end of the comic and then it turns out they still hadn't come up with anything by the time they did find him in Veilguard. This is apparently 8 years after Trespasser. That's a fair bit of time to consider options, ask Dagna to come up with some special item, consult with various magical experts on the dilemma, etc. I think Harding would have taken a shot but Neve said it would be useless because of the magic in play. Then people are dumping on Rook for interrupting the ritual and releasing two elven gods. Well, that was surely better than letting the Veil come down completely? The fact was no one else had a better idea. He took the initiative in opting to doing something over nothing, which is the sign of a leader. That's not a criticism of Lace because she isn't a leader but she is very good support. Also, my point is that if we do come up with a way of neutralising Solas so he can never present a danger again, Harding won't hold back from doing it.
Incidentally I don't think just leaving him in the Fade will suffice. It is entirely possible the elven gods still found a way to influence the world from there, particularly if it turns out they are the alter ego of the Old Gods, so Solas in the Fade could be just as dangerous potentially as Solas outside it. It's my annoyance with the Missing too. My Inquisitor (as she exists in my head) would not have signed off on this sort of mission because it would seem pointless (and it kind of was). I guess I have to view the Missing as a thing to try to catch up fans before DA4 rather than a crucial part of the story. As for Solas being stuck in the Fade, I'm not convinced it will last that long. There are like four myths where Fen'harel escapes traps even if it costs him something, and he knows how this one works already since he created it.

There are like four myths where Fen'harel escapes traps even if it costs him something, and he knows how this one works already since he created it. I was thinking of one of Cole's monologues about how the Wolf chewed off his leg to escape the trap. So, one day we return to the Lighthouse to be greeted by a one legged Solas.

Harding's dyed her hair, I'm convinced. lol It used to be a tawny, reddish light-brown or auburn, just a couple shades darker than Varric's. Could be the lighting, but in Veilguard she's giving full Femshep ginger might. Which is a good thing in my book. BioWare loooves a redhead, evidently (and so do I). She's looking awesome! Don't know if it's because she feel familiar, but Harding is probably my favorite of all of the companions, atm. I know we're gonna be besties! xD
Same...on all fronts lol
Except the "bestie" part. If I wind up playing this, I plan to pursue her. So...sure...in a way, we'd be "besties"

The part in the spoiler is something I've also been mulling over. Replaying Inquisition again, and thinking back to how many times I've played Origins, as well as DA 2, I'm starting to wonder the same thing, gervaise. But I thought I'd be laughed at or called stupid for thinking or saying such a theory. Glad to know I'm not the only one to be thinking this.

Glad to know I'm not the only one to be thinking this. Here's a further thought. What if he wasn't accidentally trapped in the Fade but went there deliberately so his two newly released enemies would not be able to harm him? Obviously, we will know better when we see the entire sequence in game as the article said there was much that wasn't revealed for spoiler reasons but I wouldn't put it past him to engineer that situation so he can use us to deal with the other two gods whilst setting things up for himself. After all, it is so very convenient that we end up in his sanctuary, the Lighthouse, just as he guided us to Skyhold in DAI. We could just be acting as the proxy Dread Wolf. I always thought the original name might be hinting at something like this, which is why they decided to change it. They claim they wanted it to be about the team and yet the PC has a special connection with Solas?! Also, the chess analogy with the name. We are the Rook on the chess board and he is playing us.

Not really the place to talk story spoilers but Solas using someone else to deal with his problem(s) has been the plot of DAI and Trespasser and it also happens in the last issue of The Missing. We should totally expect him to do it again, that's how he does things...

Further thought: Solas using someone else to deal with his problem(s) has been the plot of DAI and Trespasser and it also happens in the last issue of The Missing. We should totally expect him to do it again, that's how he does things... I said all along from the first issue of the Missing that Solas was leading them by the nose. How did Harding know to look in that part of the Deep Roads? How come he had left his "hideout" unwarded? How come he left a clue lying around to take them to the next destination (like a Thedas wide scavenger hunt)? Then he left the clues behind to take them from Vyrantium to Arlathan before leaving a note saying "Varric don't follow me". Surely a wonderful bit of reverse psychology on his part. Then they end up helping out the slaves and the supposed Venatori agent is also removed from the scene (by the elf who told us where to find Solas) whilst Solas disappears.

Will her magic come from the Titans or the interrupted ritual from the prologue. When I first saw her character descriptor I assumed it was something to do with the former in view of what happened with Valta and they seem to be roused from their slumber by influx of Fade magic, so if the Veil was weakening and allowing more through, as appeared to happen in the trailer because of all the demons, then it stands to reason a Titan might awaken, start searching for its children and then happen upon Lace. However, in view of the additional information concerning the interrupted ritual, it might well be that it also affected Lace because of being in the area. After all, it would seem that Rook is affected regardless of whether they are a dwarf, so why not Lace?

Will her magic come from the Titans or the interrupted ritual from the prologue. If I had to guess, I'd say the interrupted ritual at this point. I'd like to say the Titans make much more sense, but...we probably won't know until release (if we ever find out).

E.B. Schnepp @ebschnepp.bsky.social Replaying Dragon Age Inquisition and looking sideways at everything Harding does like… @trickweekes.bsky.social and @eplerjc.bsky.social
it’s Harding isn’t it? She’s playing the long game isn’t she?
Trick Weekes @trickweekes.bsky.social I mean, there's been talk about Harding having magical powers now. And she's not part of a Circle. So technically she's an apostate...

Come on, Trick, the first thing anyone would notice is a dwarf doing magic, not that she's an apostate. Imagine them trying to report her to the Templars. "I've just seen that dwarf doing magic." "Hold it right there, dwarves can't do magic." "But...." On the other hand, perhaps Harding is now the Sandal replacement. From what I recall, Bhodan said that the Circle in Ferelden were taking rather too much interest in Sandal's abilities, so they decided to leave. We never did discover exactly how he killed all those darkspawn in Fort Drakon or demons in the Gallows, not to mentioned the crystalised ogre. However, it looked suspiciously like magic to me. Anyway, Harding is safe enough in Tevinter, they like mages there and dwarves. She's got it made.

"Hold it right there, dwarves can't do magic." "But...." That assumes there's a Templar Order around due to choices from Inquisition. I usually went after the Mages, so the Templar Order is gone (from how it looks). Still, you're right - they'd notice that it's a dwarf doing magic. Being an apostate would be secondary, and as you said, they're in Tevinter; even if their Templar Order was still around, they're not gonna really bother so much. On the other hand, perhaps Harding is now the Sandal replacement. " Not enchantment!" Whatever that was supposed to mean. Remember when he was creating runes and such that was "enchantment", so presumably magic to him is "not enchantment". Also, in his diary in Trespasser he suddenly got very excited by "enchantment". Since he now seems to have been side-lined, I think that may have been a hint that a Titan had made contact with him and he went off to live in the Wellspring associated with it.

But yeah....Sandal not being in Inquisition was a boon I think; and the fact that he finally spoke more than one (or two) words ever was a bit of a shock. And I wouldn't be surprised if a Titan had somehow wound up inside of him possibly

But yeah....Sandal not being in Inquisition was a boon I think; and the fact that he finally spoke more than one (or two) words ever was a bit of a shock. And I wouldn't be surprised if a Titan had somehow wound up inside of him possibly I don't think the Titans possess people but the one in the Descent seemed to demonstrate that they did have some sort connection with the dwarves that Mythal severed. Then the Veil added to this by giving them amnesia, as it seemed to do to most of the races since no one seemed to remember fully what happened before it, just fragments. The fact that Bohdan originally found Sandal in the lower Deep Roads, far from any thaig, let alone Orzammar, was odd in itself but then there is the strangeness that he couldn't communicate verbally except in rather cryptic ways but did seem to have a talent for both magic and enchantment. Also, there seemed a suggestion in one of his monologues in DA2 that Flemeth was trying to find him. Also, you will recall he went wandering off into the Deep Roads during Hawke's expedition there, as though perhaps he was looking for something but couldn't quite remember what. So, it was probably just as well that he went off grid and I like to think he did find his way back to a Titan and they were both a lot happier as a result.

So with Harding getting mysterious abilities, does that mean that the Titan storyline is going to continue? The relationship between the Titans and the Dwarves is the most fascinating piece of lore to me even if we got very little of it. It has massive implications on who the Dwarves truly were and their connection to magic. Did the ancient Dwarves end up like the Elves with infighting or perhaps Mythal and Elvenuris' war against the Titatns destroyed the Dwarves true selves.
So many questions, it's exciting to think about them lol.

So with Harding getting mysterious abilities, does that mean that the Titan storyline is going to continue? Wasn't it confirmed somewhere that we will be going to Kal-Sharok? I hope I didn't imagine that as I think there may be some answers there. The Descent and Trespasser made the dwarven history a whole lot more complicated and interesting, so I imagine they will be continuing with it and Harding is an indication of that.
