Aside from all the aspects there were already mentioned by some people here: let's talk weapons! With a game in which the Warframes suits are called Javelins I just have to ask: is there some awesome sniper rifle that comes at least close to the beauty that is the ME3MP Javelin? And is there something as wonderful as the Claymore in it? The few bits of gameplay I have seen pretty much all had some pew pew pew automatic guns that "felt" lackluster and underwhelming when watching. I didn't try any of the sniper rifles as I'm a lousy shot. My Marksman rifle did function a bit like a Saber (sorry I don't remember its name). Very accurate (almost too accurate at long range).
KhrazeGaming has a sniper rifle gameplay video:

In my experience the marksman rifle was simply more practical, and had better sustained DPS compared to the few sniper rifles I got my hands on. In fact, the marksman rifle seemed head and shoulders above every other weapon type my Javelin could use. As I was playing Storm only, I never got to use the heavy MG or grenade launchers as I think Javelins have some sort of weapon restrictions to what types they can equip. Coming from ME3MP and even MEAMP, the guns REALLY lacked flavour, one assault rifle felt like the next, the biggest change I noticed was some marksman rifles were 3 round bursts instead of semi auto. I'll play more this weekend, get a Storm to Lv.15 and get a pair of skills that can prime and detonate combos myself and see how things feel.

I've just downloaded it, and I'm glad to say that it works on Win 7. So I will give it a try later on. Also I don't know about the max lobby capacity, so if anyone is willing to team up, I'm down for some testing today

I've not played it and really have no desire to play it. I didn't care for Destiny or Warframe either, so why would I play a blatant ripoff thereof? (one made by EA at that?)
Games such as Anthem are essentially Shooter MMORPGs, and I just don't have the time or energy to commit to such a thing. Sure I've played 4000+ hours of ME3MP, but you can fire up a match or two in your spare time and get off afterwards. In an MMORPG, accomplishing things requires more of a "bulk time" investment.
If you don't understand what I mean, you will after playing Anthem.

So far it's fun and the Open Demo is working. VIP demo had lots of technical problems. Might put a report together by the end of the weekend.

I spent another 3 hours on Anthem today, got Storm to Lv.14, cleared the Fort stronghold mission a couple times and tried a bunch of freeplay after finishing what few story missions you get in the demo.
This game is firmly off my radar, combos are meh, there are a few interesting variations in weapons but nothing amazing, big bosses are bullet sponges (we already know this gets boring fast), and freeplay was probably the most boring and directionless free roam I've played in a long time.
The stronghold mission was kinda "hard" on Hard setting, but mainly because certain elites require your team to focus fire to kill them in a reasonable time, and everyone is off playing ironman.
Destiny2 does freeroam better, Warframe does loot and customization better, I just dunno where Anthem fits in...

Muh Iron Man suit siml8rr! I forgot to download last night; was busy playing Hearts of Stone DLC. I finally get to battle GOD, it makes me happy. A real life fantasy come true in vidya, I am fulfilled I guess I'll try to DL and give it a shot... So far it seems like what I feared - a DAI-type game with somehow even less to do in it, with fancy sci-fantasy magic suits. Jetpacks! I rate my hype level 2 drools and a yawn, will report with vital details in the early morning maybe.

I played for about 2 hours today and spent 1 hour trying to troubleshoot my inability to invite my friend to play with me. Most of that time was taken up by loading screens. FYI, the only way I could get it to work was to invite him via the Origin client. Also, the menus and buttons on PC are worse than I remembered. I think some of them are merely decorative.

...
I'm not trolling. Just wanted to play a single player RPG more. I guess I'll miss the demo, and maybe try it some other time if it becomes compelling.
Kinda feels like a big whiff.

Hey, saw couple of you ( XCPTNL , nitrous , DisturbedPsic0 ) antheming; did you like it? I have mixed feelings personally, though I didn't expect much. Positives: Aerial movement is really suberb, albeit takes some (a lot) fiddling with settings. Running, scrambling, flying, rolling, turning, diving, going in again... This verticality and sense of speed and maneuverability is really what sets Anthem apart from other MMOs. It is truly awesome. Gorgeous graphics, environments look like a mix of Avatar / Andromeda. Big bold colorful explosions! Mr. Torgue approves. Melee rocks, especially seamless melee from flight/jump - I could see having a build just around this mechanics; like Turian Havoc with Iron Man thrusters on steroids. Lobbies (when you jump in Javelin and prepare for mission) have distinct ME3MP-ish feeling - choose loadout, gear, difficulty, 3 extra players... Negatives: Couldn't sustain 60 fps on Ultra or High, only Medium settings; usually my working/gaming rig can chew pretty much through anything. Sad. Guns feel and sound subpar (I only played with the basic ones however). Wet noodly plink plonk. Almost uncomparable to eg Destiny, where even the worst pistol is satisfying to use. Fort Tarsis, though quite eye-catching, is a slog to walk through. Sssslllloooowwwwllllyyyy. Really unfortunate design decision. Menus are convoluted and clearly appropriated from consoles (Y-U to move left or right...), though I have yet to find MMO with clear menu structure. Game world is kinda... empty. No logs, recordings, nothing. Just beutiful vistas and mooks hopping around. Compared to Division or Fallout 76, where every little place has some kind of lore, some little interesting tidbit... People are unhappy with F76 lack of single story element, yet Anthem is nothing but an arena for mp combat. The grind is real. Played for a few hours, got some meh materials, some grey and green guns, that can be turned into more meh materials... I loked into future and saw a glimpse of playing the same shit again and again and again. Already have games for that, so no buy for me.

mylkoo Yes, I've played Anthem both during the Closed VIP Demo and yesterday, and there are indeed a couple of things I've noted to myself. However, I do feel that it might be a bit unfair to say that the game has no storyline, because what we've seen is just one mission which definitely looks like it was taken from the very middle of the storyline, so we don't really know anything about what is going on or what we are doing it for. Maybe I think so because I really want Anthem to succeed, and that's for a number of reasons, the main of them being that there was definitely IMMENSE work put into it, and I want other people to appreciate it - I felt really irritated when I spotted some of the game reviewers and streamers literally shitting on the game after having played it for a couple of hours. Granted, they have the right to have their own opinions - but their ignorance and entitlement really put me off. 1) The FLIGHT is absolutely AWESOME. For someone who's been dreaming of flying as long as I remember myself, this game is pure heaven, as it gives you the flight freedom few other games do (at least those I know of). You can jump off the cliff, engage your jetpack mid-fall, fly a certain distance, start hovering and shoooting/using powers while dodging in all directiions, and then, when you're just about to overheat, finish it with an awesome-looking melee. I couldn't ask for more, and this one reason is enough for me to ensure a purchase. 2) The visuals are also absolutely stunning, albeit the game is not kind to your hardware at all, and keeping in mind that I'm gaming on a laptop that isn't a top-tier gaming rig (i7-6700HQ, 6GB VRAM GTX 1060, 16GB RAM) without a dedicated cooling system (yes, Dell did an excellent job with the heat sink, but it's still not enough, as the core temperatures are around 70-75C and the GPU temperature is about 65-70C, and rise by 5-7C by the end of the gaming session), I have to be careful with settings. We've figured out a nice configuration that lets you keep visuals at a decent level while greatly reducing the load on your hardware. Check the spoiler for more details. Also disable Motion Blur, Depth of Field and Chromatic Aberration in other Graphics Setting tab above. 3) The combo mechanics definitely look promising, and while it still will take some time to figure out what detonates what, the damage they do is immense, and it also motivates the team to work together. 4) Weapons, on the other side, indeed feel a bit underwhelming - most of them were pew or pew pew, and I want the and bang of the Javelin. But, I guess, that's the price we have to pay for the fast-paced combat. 5) Speaking of which - I'd love to have the Javelin a single-shot SR that would be insanely powerful and take lots of skill to use. I haven't found one there yet, and the Deadeye feels closer to the BW. 6) For whom it's important - the customisation is great. At least it was more than enough for me. If anyone here wants me to dwell on something more particular, please feel free to ask me anytime - I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Well nitrous , I'm happy you like it; to each his own, would be a pretty boring world if we all were into the same things. Gonna try those graphic settings. Also, I only tested the very first Javelin - how do you actually unlock those others? Do I have to finish some mission? Game tells me they're unlocked, can't find them in Forge though... And I truly dont want to slog through Fort Tarsis or hop into that flashy but mindless freeform gameplay again. Regarding the story: While I'm sure there's gonna be some general lore and whatnot, after being burned by Destiny and Andromeda (and playing ME so many times) I'm kinda tired of these soapy sci-fi fairy tales of grand immortal saviours/guardians/freelancers and hordes of their alienish opponents... Division suits me much better, what with its personal tales of fear, loss and descent of ordinary men into madness.

This is my next purchase other than Sekiro, FromSoft hasn't let me down yet... yes that includes DarkSouls2 It really looks like CAPCOM captured the nostalgia of RE2, while updating it to an over the shoulder experience, I don't think this feat can be understated. It gives me some SMALL SMALLLLLLL hope that FF7 might not be anything like FF15 (boy band simulator with a DEAD open world).

I haven't played any of those as I am more into strategy games . Sekiro looks interesting though so I will probably give it a try if I have the time for it.
